Memorial Day weekend always brings some of the biggest sales of the year, and I like taking advantage of the steep discounts when I can. It’s a great time to save money on top brands and pick up a few new pieces for the season. I’ve gone through all the noise to find the sales actually worth shopping, especially for those of us over 50 who want to feel stylish without chasing trends. From polished classics at Talbots to fun everyday basics at Old Navy and Walmart, these deals make it easy to update your wardrobe and get the most out of your money.
Elevated Classics Worth the Investment
Talbots – Classic styles at can’t-miss prices
Talbots always has something classic and flattering, and this weekend’s sale is a good one. You can take up to 40% off highest regular-price item, and 30% off entire remaining regular-price purchase with code SUMMER. This is a great time to grab one of their signature cardigans or linen separates. Their clothes are well-made, modest, and timeless, and they just fit our lifestyle.
J.Jill – Linen lovers, take note
J.Jill is offering 30% off all linen styles and jewelry through May 26, 2025. Additionally, there’s an extra 30% off all sale-priced merchandise, valid through May 25, 2025. These discounts are automatically applied at checkout, so no code is needed.
Ann Taylor – Polished and timeless

While I’ve bought several pieces from Theory, I’ve never shopped from their store, it has always been through a department store. Loft is doing 40% off your entire purchase, and they’re also offering Loft Cash on orders over $75. They’ve got plenty of cheerful prints and feminine details that are perfect for summer. I always find cute tops and flowy skirts there, and the fit usually works well for women our age.

Over at J.Crew Factory, you’ll find up to 70% off everything, plus an extra 25% off orders over $125 with the code SALE. This is one of my go-to spots for basics with a little personality. Their summer prints are always cheerful, and the prices are easy on the wallet without sacrificing style.
Nordstrom Rack – Designer deals at a discount
Nordstrom Rack is taking up to 60% off clearance items and adding an extra 25% off on top of that. This is where I’ve found some of my favorite name-brand shoes and handbags at great prices. It takes a little digging, but you can find some gems if you know what you’re looking for.

Amazon – Budget finds that ship fast
Amazon is doing what Amazon does best: Up to 35% off across clothing, shoes, and accessories. Some pieces I’ve worn this spring are on sale right now, and if you’re a Prime member, you’ll get the best prices. The REST® Evercool® Cooling Comforter that I swear by is on sale for 20% off.
Kohl’s – Something for everyone
Kohl’s is having a big Memorial Day Sale, plus they’ve added an extra $10 off $25 with the code TAKE10. I usually grab a few tees or a lightweight jacket during their Memorial Day sale, and if you use Kohl’s Cash, the savings can really add up.
HSN – Big brands and smart savings
HSN has kicked off their Memorial Day Sale with Up To 50% Off Sitewide on a wide range of deals across fashion, beauty, home, and bedding. It’s a great place to check if you’re looking for something specific or just want to browse and see what’s marked down. One deal that caught my eye was the Coop Sleep Goods Adjustable Pillow 2-pack. 😊 Thanks for listing all the sales. A lot of hard work. I bought the Baretraps wedge sandals under the Belk info. I bought them from DSW last week. They are very comfortable right out of the box. I wore them last Thursday to my grandson’s graduation. The ceremony was at a local university so it wouldn’t be outside in the heat at his high school. I had to walk a bit and my feet didn’t hurt at all. I would totally recommend them for those that can’t wear real high heels. They’re a little over 2 inches heel. They are bunion friendly too.

😊 Glad you and your brother both made it home safely. You’re right about not being able to rest in the hospital. My MIL fell Mother’s Day weekend and spent the night in the hospital. We stayed with her and we were exhausted too. She’s recovering at home now.
