50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE A PLAIN JANE LOOKIt has been a gorgeous day today and even though I sat inside at work it was still pretty great. I did get a lot of work accomplished and for the first time in a while, I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. My stack of work on my desk is slowly dwindling and I hope to actually be able to see the wood of the desk before long. Lol! Since I was feeling so good about all the work I had gotten done I decided to reward myself.  50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE A PLAIN JANE LOOKI snuck off early! I went to the house and yanked off all of my jewelry, that is always the first thing I do when I walk in the door. Then I threw on some shorts and a tee shirt and headed out to sit by the pool. The pump on our pool quit working Sunday night but Joe, who is incredibly mechanically minded, ordered a part and had it fixed by the time I got home. I thought about jumping in and going for a swim but the lounge chair called my name instead. I laid my head back and before I even knew it I was sound asleep. Lol! There is no telling how long I would have slept if the train hadn’t decided to go by. I never even hear the train when I am in the house but if you are outside it can be deafening. Emersyn covers her ears when she comes over because it is just too loud.50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE A PLAIN JANE LOOKI told you that I have been in a “Plain Jane” mood lately. What is more “Plain Jane” than two solid items worn together? The answer would be ONE solid item worn all by itself! Lol! Even though this maxi dress is solid in color it makes up for it is the neckline detail. I bought this in Alaska at the nail salon Ashleigh and I went to. I had never heard of the brand, MTS, but it seems really nice. I have not washed the dress yet so I don’t know how it will stand up to that. The real selling point was the unique detail on the neck. That is so cute!!!

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE A PLAIN JANE LOOKHow do you like my Dakota earrings? Have I sold you yet on these oversized earrings? This pair is gold with a sheen to look like metal but they are actually leather. I could have worn a necklace with this dress but I chose to let the neckline have the spotlight. 50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE A PLAIN JANE LOOKThe Ashley is still my favorite bracelet from Plunder. I love all the summer colors like the hot pink and turquoise. The large pearl dangles really grab your attention. On the left, I am wearing a slew of Alex and Ani bracelets. One of the latest that I bought was called the Queen’s Crown. I love it because 20% of the proceeds go back to help NOT FOR SALE, an organization trying to combat modern day slavery.50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE A PLAIN JANE LOOKI do love my monogramming so when I came across these cute sandals from a local vendor in town I just had to have them. Keep in mind that these type shoes are really just for fashion purposes and they are not the most comfortable shoes around. I don’t do a lot of walking at work so it was fine for me to wear them all day. If you are on your feet all day long though you would want to opt for something a little more comfortable.50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE A PLAIN JANE LOOKI have had several of you ask about casual events and outdoor summer weddings. I thought I would show you how easily you could take this dress and add a scarf and make it appropriate for any of those events. Adding the scarf hides your arms if you are not happy about the sleeveless option and it also adds a little warmth especially if you are outdoors after the sun goes down.

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE A PLAIN JANE LOOKYou can tie the scarf in front so that you don’t have to keep grabbing it every time you move your arms. This makes is easy to eat and drink without having to juggle.50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE A PLAIN JANE LOOKWearing the scarf in this way hides the neckline detail but it adds some drama all on it own. Because you can’t see the neckline you can wear this dress and people might not even recognize that you wore it before. 50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE A PLAIN JANE LOOKMy Alaska daughter is CRAZY about sharks. She loves Shark Week and treats it like a holiday. So, in honor of my daughter, I am having a “Shark Week Special.” Every new PC who signs up and purchases a full regimen will get a FREE Essentials Daily Body Moisturizer. Already a PC? Order a full regimen and receive a Mineral Peptides Powder from me.

  6. Who knew that Alaska sells so many cute, summery clothes?! Have enjoyed seeing all of them on you, the prettiest model.

  7. I admire your willingness to go with out sleeves! My arms look like a Christmas ham!!! Neckline on the dress is lovely!!

    1. Oh, Kathy. That made me spew out my coffee. Mine would look like that too if I had them laid against my body. Always hold them out for pictures, it really helps.

  8. I love this dress Tania! You look gorgeous in every picture. Love it with the scarf specially around your shoulders and tied in the front! Just elegant! I enjoy reading your posts each day and get so many great ideas about styling outfits and accessories. Thank you. This California lady loves your Southern sense of humor and I adore hearing you speak. Thank you for making each day a little brighter!

I love this scarf tied in the front and especially with this cute dress. Glad you got the opportunity to get away from the office, and a nap to boot 😉 Today is my Friday, but not for a fun reason. I live in a very small town so one needs to go out of town for just about everything. My husband is going to the eye doctor and I’m getting a mammogram. I think I will still get some shopping in. You know that song Amarillo by morning? I will be in Amarillo in the morning. Actually, I’ll be there by night. Lol

    1. I know exactly how you feel, Melesa. Almost all of our doctor visits and any major shopping requires a two-hour drive. ? I have never been to Amarillo but Joe lived for a very short time in Wichita Falls.

I discovered you on Pinterest a few months ago, and have received your daily email for about 6 weeks. I work in a call center for a large group ins company, and have allowed myself to get into a very deep fashion rut. Jeans, jeans, jeans. Your posts have made me want out of this rut! I’m Mother of the Bride in late October and am looking for fun things to wear for my daughter’s week of celebrating. Your posts are having a great impact and I see long dresses and color in my future. Thank you for encouraging this just past 60 lady to spread her butterfly wings again!

    1. Congratulations on the upcoming wedding!!! I am so happy to help you spread your wings. ?

  14. Maxine Bower says:

Very cute. Love it with the scarf!

  15. I always think accessories make all the difference with “plain” clothes. In fact we just styled some posts where I showed the outfits with and without accessories side by side. Comparing them like that really makes you realize how some extras can make a difference for very little effort!!
    That color looks fabulous, Tania!!
