50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE A DRESS SERIES, PART 283. That was the temperature today. It is crazy that on Saturday it was trying to spit snow. This weather is driving me nuts, I don’t know whether to wear short sleeves or a coat. I do try to be practical and keep a light cardigan or jacket in the car because you just never know at this time of year. Layering is the key and I usually start with a short sleeved garment and then start adding things such as a sweater, vest, blazer, etc. You can always take off the top layer if you get too hot. 50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE A DRESS SERIES, PART 2My DIL, Kayla, was getting her hair cut so I got to babysit for a little while. Emersyn and I made a few stops before we went home. The first stop was TCBY Yogurt shop and we “had” to sit outside. Next, we found our way to Wal-Mart. Luckily for me, all she wanted was some popcorn and a movie to keep in my car. She chose The Secret Lives of Pets. We live only a few minutes for the Wal-Mart so the credits had barely got over before we made it home. She found a dive ring that we had played with at the pool and decided that we needed to fetch this thing all over the yard. She ran and ran and ran. She will be in bed really early tonight. Lol! 50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE A DRESS SERIES, PART 2What do you think about look #2? I know a few of you were uncomfortable with the length of the dress and this is the solution for you. I truly worried when I first bought the dress that it was too short but Joe assured me it wasn’t. Since I wear shorts that are shorter than this I guess he is right. When I wear this as a dress I just wear a short pair of volleyball or compression shorts under the dress. Think back to when you were a cheerleader or majorette and you wore the shorts under your outfit.

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE A DRESS SERIES, PART 2The bracelets are too cute. The arrow bracelet is the Dixie and the solid gold bangle has been retired. They left the two silver inscription bracelets, the Raelynn and the Abela, evidently silver sells better than gold. The cute watch bracelet didn’t make the cut either. ? Plunder just came out today with some Mother’s Day jewelry and I am loving all the bangles. Yes, I have already placed my orders. Lol! 50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE A DRESS SERIES, PART 2These are all as pre-orders and they will ship out the first week of May. When you place your order it usually shows as back ordered until it is time to ship. I know I am getting the two bling bangles and the long silver necklace with the charms, but I can’t decide on the leather with the floral adornments. What do you think? BTW, all these will be found under the specials tab.

I closed the last party I had and we have moved on to plunderdesign.com/party/tania750 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE A DRESS SERIES, PART 2I love this scarf! I think it brightens every look because it is so cheery. The purples and the greens “POP” off the navy background. Good accessories can take an ordinary shirt or dress and take it over the top. Normally, accessories are fairly cheap. You can buy one accessory that can change the looks of several outfits or buy one top. The accessory makes the most sense.

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE A DRESS SERIES, PART 2How easy was this? The swing dress has now taken on the look of a tunic because I added a pair of navy leggings. This pair of leggings are not really cropped leggings but I still wanted the look of crop leggings. I just scrunched them up until I go them to the length I wanted and the crinkles are hidden under the dress. This gives me two looks from the same pair of leggings. It is all about getting the most bang for your buck.

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO STYLE A DRESS SERIES, PART 2I evidently forgot my purse for the picture but at least I put on my shoes. Flats again!!! This has to be a record for me. Haha! These are soooo old but I just can’t get rid of them. I love the color and I wear them all the time. The blue/green color seems to go with a lot of my spring and summer outfits.

This is a fun look. A mix of dressy and casual. I like it!

  2. This is my favourite of the three looks so far. love the combination of colors with the scarf! I have a couple of the Old Navy swing dresses but bought the sleeveless ones. I have tried numerous options so that I can wear it with leggings and something to cover my arms but cant seem to find a jacket or even a cardigan that looks right. any ideas? or perhaps tomorrow’s post will be the swing dress with a jacket! stay tuned???

  3. Love this look, I went dancing last night and I did the same look dress with 3/4 co-ordinated coloured leggings, I could relax and enjoy the twirling. Thank you for for the great idea. Cheers,Tracey.

  4. Teri Getler Matthews says:

Your two for two, love them both and can’t wait to see tomorrow!

  5. Donna Simpson says:

Love the look! I have this same dress from Old Navy in a different color and what I love is it comes in long! The regular length is a little too short for me and the long is just a couple of inches (if that much) longer and I love it. You can only get the long online but I thought I’d mention it.

    1. Thanks, Donna. I knew you could order in talls for jeans but I never thought about that for a dress.

  6. First, I do not think this is too short! It’s super cute and looked adorable in yesterday’s post. However, I would have to wear leggings or cropped leggings since I work with children…bending over, sitting on the floor with them, etc. So today’s version is one I can copy! (I just realized that I’m actually wearing a swing dress today with cropped leggings and sandals. The dress is new from a boutique, and has an applique’ of Texas on it. LOL) XOXO

    1. If you are going to be active, then this look is great. I wore the dress by itself down in New Orleans and it was perfect for just walking around town.

  7. Cute Tania! I need to popover and get some colored leggings! So cute on you!

  8. Tania you look awesome.
Wish I could afford lash boost. I’ll just continue to admire yours. ?

  9. Susan Stancliff says:

I love a swing dress any way it is worn. Not too short at all! You can take anything and make it look fabulous. Can’t wait to see tomorrows look

  10. LOVE!!!! You are really rockin’ this look. Love your use of scarves! Wear them A LOT myself!

  11. I love this outfit. I was wondering if I could do that with the leggings and you answered my question, LOL, thank you!
And I do like the dress, can’t wait to see what else you with it!! 😉 Have a great day!!

  12. Pam Hatcher says:

Like this look much better than the 1st. Thought the 1st was a little too short.

  13. Hi, I wanted to place an order from Plunder design so I followed the link you provided, it didn’t seem to work. Is there another way that I can order as a guess?

  14. Kelli Clark says:

I love this look! I have not tried it yet. I am a bit slow but it looks great on you. I think I would have to have elbow length sleeves as I hate my arms.
I especially love the fact that you have been wearing flats. I am inspired!! I am on my feet pounding the floors at least 8 hours a day so I have to wear sensible shoes:(
I love each and every post but especially the ones that I can wear myself. Thank you so much for inspiring us. You are awesome!!!

  15. I really like this look, Tania!

  16. Sharon Worley says:

Love both looks – one for warm weather and another for when there is a little chill in the air – perfect! Two questions – you look so beautiful with your tan! Is that from being on vacation in the tropics or do you use a tanner you can recommend? And, when the weather is a little chilly what would you wear on top of this if you need a little more warmth in the evening?

    1. Sharon, I have been using the Rodan and Fields Sunless Tanner. It is perfect for anyone who is not an expert at applying faux tanner because it is very subtle. It took me approx. 3 applications before I got the color I wanted.

  17. I love the look!! it looks so comfy can’t wait for what you have for us tomorrow.

  18. Cynthia Kendrick says:

Love this look too! I didn’t think your dress was too short yesterday. As a wise older woman told me – age is just a number – if you are comfortable in it and your husband loves it – go with it! She wore “minis” until she was in her late 60’s/early 70’s. When she got the creepy knees she went to right under the knee. Keep inspiring us to get out of our “comfort zones” appropriately. LOL! Have a marvelous day!

    1. I agree, just be careful with something too short, try something under it,to make you comfortable.

  19. Angie Whitley says:

Love it! What is the name of the bracelet with the brown leather strap and the beaded flowers? I really like that…. I didn’t see it on the Plunder website.

  20. This is more me, my legs are definitely not my best asset!! ?

  21. Charlcy Green says:

Very cute and comfy! I would definitely wear that! Thx for showing us how to make more use out of every outfit we buy!

  22. I still don’t have any leggings that are capri length—but I can see how perfect they’d be with a dress like this in the summer!

  23. I like this look better personally. The scarf really looks cheery!!

  24. Anita patrick says:

I really don’t think the leggings work. I would be too hot. I happen to love scarves and this is pretty. The dress length is fine. Embrace your assets.

  25. Paula Nelson says:

I think you hit this one out of the ballpark!! I liked the last one as well. Thanks for the tip about the compression shorts!!
    Paula from Texas

    1. Thanks, Paula! I ama glad you liked it!

  26. Sharon Parmer says:

Love this look! I live in tunics and leggings in the spring with accessories! Thank goodness I have Plunder this year!!

  27. Perfect styling for Spring Tania! Love the way you combine two shades of blue. Now I’m guessing how you’re going to style it tomorrow – with boots???

  28. Great look. By the way, did you change something in the way you post your blogs? Since the weekend, I’ve been unable to open your posts on Safari.

    1. Brenda, I haven’t changed anything. Technology is just so wonderful but it is always changing.

  29. The dress is not too short. It is all about what is comfortable for you. I appreciate you showing this with the leggings though since I wear them this time of year and I’m always trying to figure out how best to coordinate them. This is a great look! Thanks!

  30. The leggings look cute and the scarf is lovely. I am very tall, and as a young woman I struggled to find clothes that were long enough. I need knee length to be comfortable and to not hear my grandma’s voice saying, ” Mutton passing for lamb” when she spotted someone she deemed dressing too young for her age. When she didn’t like my choice of friends I heard, ” When you lie down with dogs, expect to get up with fleas.” She was a hoot.

    1. Don’t you just love all the sayings your Grandma would say? Mine was a character too. Lol!

  31. Great weekend look! I feel conflicted about what length dresses and skirts should be on us at this age. I bought a dress that is a print but, similar shape and length from Loft. I keep going back and forth about is it appropriate for work. I work for a builder, I am in a model home all day with most of our clients that are baby-boomers. My other problem is I love long skirts and dresses which I have always worn but at this age it can go from Hippie to Gypsy. It is fine line.

    1. Be sure to chek back tomorrow, Bonnie. you might be happy!

  32. What a difference that gorgeous scarf makes!!! I like this look much better. ~Lisa~

  33. I love the dress with the leggings and I think the scarf is beautiful, Tania!!!! I hardly ever wear dresses, but I would wear this outfit any day!!!!
    Have a great day!!!
    Hugz

  34. Love this too! I didn’t think the dress without leggings was in any way too short, but I love this look too! FUN – Thank so much for sharing your awesome self!

    1. I think you will be surprised with tomorrow’s look. Lol!

  35. I like this more then the other look with this dress! What a stunning colors!
