HOW TO STYLE A DRESS SERIES
Happy Monday everyone! I am feeling pretty happy today, I had a great weekend. I got my nails finally done even though you won’t see them for awhile because I have some pictures taken ahead. I did a French Manicure and my nail tech about fell out of his chair. He knows I only do a French Manicure once or twice a year. Joe had also been gone for a few days and he got back home Saturday afternoon. Everything is now back to normal. Lol!
The visit to the nail salon, however, was a tad bit crazy this time. Bill and Lisa are the American names of my nails techs. Lisa just had a beautiful little girl a week ago today so they have a couple of older ladies helping out. While I was getting a pedicure one of them came over to me and wanted to start on my nails. She was horrified at how bad they looked. Haha! She immediately said I needed a new set of tip put on. I don’t like tips and I only get an overlay on top of my real nails. I told her this and you could see the disapproval. She went away and came back in about 5 minutes and started taking off the polish, etc. but once again telling me that my real nails were “too brittle and weak” and that I needed new tips. I explained to her that I knew they were brittle and weak and that was why I had an overlay applied to them. I once again got the disapproving look. When I got to move to the manicure chair I had hoped that Bill would take over because he is used to my less than perfect nails but he was already waiting on another lady. Guess who came and sat down across from me? UGH! She started cutting and clipping and before I knew it she had almost cut my nails down to nubs all the time grumbling. Finally, I said to her to put on tips and she perked up right away. Am I becoming one of those “set in my way” little old women?
I am starting a new series today that will run through the rest of this week. You are going to be amazed at how I can take a dress and come up with different looks. I am starting with a simple Rayon swing dress from Old Navy. I bought this dress last fall and EVERY time I wear it Joe tells me how much he likes me in this dress. The last time I went to Old Navy the dress was on sale 40% off and I bought about 4 more versions. I am no dummy, if my husband likes me in something then I am going to make sure I have plenty of them to wear.
Plunder has a brand new Spring line of jewelry that just came out. I have ordered two bunches of it but I haven’t gotten it yet. For the next week, you might see me wearing jewelry that is no longer available for purchase so I am sorry about that. I am trying to decide whether to keep my retired pieces, sell them, or give them to my mom and sister. I have had this baby blue set for 6 months but I never wore it. Wouldn’t you know that when I finally started wearing it, they retired it? Lol!
I am carrying a cute little cross body light gray purse. I bought this at TJ Maxx for only 25.00. I don’t carry small purses unless I am going out to dinner or a party and I don’t want to lug around a big satchel. I will only put money, a cell phone, and some ID in the purse. Cell phones are so big now that you have to make sure they will fit. I always try to put the cell phone inside the purse before I will buy it.
My cute little ballet flats are in navy. This is a pair of Isaac Mizrahi flats that I bought from the overstock store in town. I like a ballet flat because they go with jeans, shorts, or a dress. When you are limited in your closet space or in your bank account, you want to make sure that you can get a lot of wear out of your purchase.
I want everyone to have lashes that your nail techs will envy! SO, I am offering a $10.00 off every order!!! If you sign up as a Preferred Customer you will receive an additional 10% off plus free shipping. Go here to order Lash Boost.
I want to thank everyone who has signed up for my emails. I promise you only get one email a day from me and I don’t give out your email addresses, that would just be weird. Lol! I am only 200 away from that magical 5000 mark, woohoo! PLEASE take the time to signup!!! Also, if you would like to share my posts on Facebook or Twitter, I would appreciate that. It helps get my blog out to more people, and I am sure you just want to spread the entertaining sayings I have. Lol! The comment section is at the end of the post, so keep scrolling. I love that your doing this dress series! Will give me some great ideas as I have that dress in just about every color, stripe and pattern! Old Navy hit a winner with that one, it’s the most comfortable, flattering and so easy to dress up and dress down! Love your blog Tania!
I just really don’t think we can show our knees after 50, but you do you!
I love the dress!! I would love to have one in every color.
Cute dress! In regards to your nails, what happened to the customer is right? Just don’t get service like we used to?
I love this short dress, Tania! And I love that Joe loves it too!
I love the whole look! It gets so dang hot here in New Mexico that “less is better” but it still has to look good! I am loving following your blog! I can’t wait to order my R&F products (I signed up under Lynette in CO) and to get my new Plunder order. I feel like it’s Christmas!!!!! Have a wonderful day……………..
Looking forward to your dress series. I admit I did think to myself “too short FOR ME, which is no refection on you , just my own age & insecurities. You look cute in that color & style. I’m already imagining ways to style it myself. Way to show your spunk, gurl!
Love the dress! That’s my favorite school outfit for teaching kindergarten!
Question… my son is getting married this coming Labor Day in Nashville and I am still on the hunt for a dress. Any suggestions? I remember seeing your MOG dress but I can’t find it again in your blog.
Love this !!!!
Very cute! I have that dress from Old Navy (different color) and have only worn it once; can’t WAIT to see how you change up the look!
Love this look. Can’t wait to see how you style this dress in other ways. I wear a lot of dresses and skirts in the spring and summer and look forward to see your fabulous stylings!
Love the look…says cool and comfortable to me. I like the look of the smaller bag also.Cant wait to see tomorrow’s style!
Fantastic color on you!
I am sure you know the color in this dress makes your eyes scream blue…such a great color for you!
I love this dress on you, not to short at all! I have it in black and wear with white crop leggings. My legs look like a road map, not a pretty sight! Can’t wait to see how you style it the rest of the week…I loved the Jean & tee series! Have a great day Tania! By the way, I was at the Pinnacle Outlets in Bristol last week & thought of you! Every time I’m there I keep an eye open hoping to run into you?
Tanya, you look great! This has been my style this hot summer here in Lima, Peru.
Can’t wait to see what you do next!
I have a dress similar to this one.
Need some ideas.
You look great in this!! I am getting “old lady knees” and no amount of exercise seems to be helping. I appreciated you posting the longer styles but gosh, they just aren’t as cute!! Looking forward to seeing what you do with this dress (I have one in black). Then, maybe I will slowly begin transitioning to a longer style “with cuteness”.
Love the dress, it is not too short! I am looking forward to the dress series. I love to wear dresses to work especially in the summer. I am 5’6” and have found that most of the dresses in the stores are really short on me. My granddaughter said the funniest thing to me when was wearing a short skort in Florida. She said I know you are old, really really old, but you don’t have old lady legs!!!
I’ve learned a lot from blogging about how versatile dresses can be—I can’t wait to see your take on it Tania!!

Oh boy! Another series! I love them, I always learn a lot.
I have this dress. Can’t wait to see your other looks.
I really like your dress. It looks great on you. I can’t wait to see tomorrow’s post. I really enjoyed your jeans and t-shirt series.
I really like when you do these series using one article of clothing and styling it different ways……”more bang for your buck” or something like that. By the way….your hair looks great Tania!!!! It looks like you have let it grow out a little. ~Lisa~
You look amazing and the dress is not too short, you have great legs?
I like that color a lot!
Beautiful color! And the jewelry and nails are perfect!!
Tania, you sparkle in blue, you look great!
Super cute styling Tania.
Today I will be posting Beyond the LBD (Little BlackDress) for every shape.
Have a fab Monday
LOL Yvonne
