HOW TO STYLE BLACK AND BROWN TOGETHER
October is here and Fall is in the air. I am really starting to get in the mood for all things fall. I have been looking at the fall decorations and pumpkins are calling my name. I am leaving town this week so I didn’t want to start decorating yet because I will make a HUGE mess before the decorating is complete. Am I the only one who does this???
I have to pull out everything I own to decorate with for fall. Then I spend so much time going around and around trying to decide where I am going to place everything. New items just keep creeping into my house so after I drag everything out I end up with all kinds of things that I can’t find a spot for. I have to then pack up all the excess items and put them back in storage. My taste changes from year to year so I am never quite sure how I want to decorate. The best way would be for someone else to come into my house and do it for me. Lol! Unfortunately, that isn’t going to happen.
This is another style that I am not sure about. The asymmetrical style has not grown on me yet but I decided to try this black sleeveless sweater from Cato’s to see how I would like the style. When I buy something at Cato’s I know that I am not investing a lot of money and if I really like the style then I will buy it again later. This sweater is textured and has ribbing but because it is black you can’t see the detailing. I think it looks better on the model on the website, maybe I am not shaped for this style. Lol!
The Gladys earrings, the Rhiannon necklace, and the Scarlett bracelet are all part of the Pine Set. I really like the easy boho feel to this set. It is very lightweight which is something I look for and the leather is fantastic to wear with all the fall colors that are so popular right now. I added the Hilton bling bracelet for some color. The seafoam green is such a beautiful color. The matching Berkley necklace has the seafoam green stones along with Topaz drops on an antique gold chain. Can you imagine how boring this outfit would be without all the accessories???
Speaking of accessories, just take a gander at this leopard print purse!!! I am in total love with this purse and it was a gift from a special reader, Annie. You can read about that here. This is a leopard print haircalf tote is so stylish and perfect for the fall and winter season. The brown and black print will go with almost anything. The long tassel is very trendy right now and there was also a necklace and earring set that matched it but they must have already sold out since they are no longer on the website.
I haven’t worn these shoes in a while because I find them hard to put on. Why do manufacturers put the clasps on the outside beside your ankle? I feel like I have to be a contortionist in order to get them latched. Otherwise, I love this pair. They have the hair on them like the purse and I love the t-strap and pointy toe. I really like it when I can find a trendy and cute pair of shoes that are flats. This pair is by Sole Society and I have had them about a year.

Looking forward to to dress like you.
Thank you!
I love most all your outfits! You must have a very large closet! Sue
Lova the color combo. out of curiosity, are the Harper pants you are wearing pleated? on the website (old navy) the are pleated. In your photo they dont look pleated. are they a different sytle? Thanks!
No, they are not pleated. Pleated pants add bulk and I stay way from that.
Can you tell me the brand of that beautiful purse!
I love leopard. And I just told my hubby I need a new leopard bag for fall!! Thank you
I love reading your blog! Being a believer, I really enjoy your spiritual posts. The black top looks great on you! Black and brown are two of my favorites, esp. with leapord print accessories!!
I think the top looks great on you!
You may feel lopsided, but you look great in this black and tan and leopard outfit. Total WOW! What a wonderful way to do fall colors. Raaaoooowwweerr! (That’s the sound leopard’s make when they are happy.)
I LOVE this outfit. But when I first opened it my screen went crazy and just stared scrolling and I thought you had on a really short dress! LOL Love how you styled this and your accessories are on point!
Love me some animal print, gurl!! Beautiful outfit and accessories! I really like the look of asymmetrical tops, but I think I’m too short to wear them. You’re several inches taller than me and it looks great on you. In my mind, I am very tall, slender and elegant, like Grace Kelly, but when I look in the mirror all I see is an oompa loompa staring back at me. ha Oh well, such is life. Have a safe trip and have extra fun for me too!
You will love Charleston! My son graduated from The Citadel. We visited so often, it became our second home and we still go at least 4 or 5 times a year. We will be there next week-end….wish we were there at the same time so that we could meet for a quick visit. Love mixing brown and black. Thanks for your posts each day. I always look forward to them. Enjoy the Holy City as we call it and be sure to visit the Market in the middle of Charleston.
Safe and happy travels, Miss Tania! Hope you have a fabulous time! YOU look adorable, today! ?
Love the entire outfit! The asymmetrical style top looks great on you and will also go nicely with leggings because it’s a bit longer. The shoes and bag are fabulous!
Cute outfit. I like the length and asymmetrical style of your shirt. I have not tried this style either, but seeing on someone, helps with the vision. Have a great day.
I like asymmetrical because it seems to conceal some of the “bad spots”. Love the look of the sweater, but living in Michigan a sleeveless sweater has a very short weather window. I think some sort of wrap/cardigan would be necessary. Not sure how that would look?
Love the colors, the whole look!
Very pretty!!
Like your outfit and think you look very nice! As usual! I have a few tops similar and think they elongate my body!
And like the animal print accents!
I am with you on decorating for fall, or any season. I have a big mess for a couple of days before I decide on what I am going to use and where I am going to put it. I have too many storage bins full of things for each season and don’t even ask me about Christmas decorating!
I love the longer asymmetrical top and I think it looks good on you. Leopard is my favorite pattern and I’ve been wanting to wear it with something other than black. Thanks for the styling idea.
I think any asymmetricalness (is that a word?) looks great on anyone. The advantage is it takes the focal point!!!
XOXO

I think this outfit is very stylish and looks great on you! As for the fall decorations, I’m right there with you! I love the fall colors and the warmness it brings to the house. Hope you have a wonderful Monday!
Tami, I love the fall colors also. It DOES make your home feel so much warmer!
I don’t like the asymmetrical style. It makes me feel lopsided. I like a long tunic, but keep my hem balanced please! I also wonder why they say ” hair calf” instead of calf hair. Is it because we might realize they are talking about baby animals? My, I sound grumpy this morning. You look cute and I love the jewelry.
I don’t think you sound grumpy this morning. Lol! I feel lopsided when I wear it too. haha
It really depends on the look of each top when i put in on whether I like asymmetrical or not. It has a lot to do with how it hangs and what I’m wearing it with. I like yours in the picture.
Happy decorating! I’m the same way. You should see me at Christmas!
I absolutely love your outfit… I think the asymmetrical sweater looks fabulous on you, makes you look longer/leaner especially with the Pine set jewellery… very put together…I need that purse…lol
Yes, you need that purse!!! Lol!
I love this combination ..for 2 reasons; the asymmetrical style top and jeggings/skinny pants is one of my favourite combos and the fact that the top is black. My number one colour choice. And you combined leopard print with it, one of my other favourites. Thank you for your nice refreshing posts, every morning at 7am I receive my notification for your new post. I live in Pretoria, South Africa.
I want to ask you, it is well accepted that blue denim and black is a solid match but can one wear navy and black together? Not royal blue, but ‘pure’ navy blue? Continue with your lovely blog
Erika, it is so nice to hear from you all the way in South Africa. You hear the term black and blue all the time so I can only assume the two colors can go together. I think it would look better together if the blue was not so dark that it looked like you thought it was black. If you add an accessory with one or both of the colors it would tie it all together.
Thank you for your reply. It is good advice not to try and pair dark navy and black together. And yes, a scarf or necklace will complete the outfit.
