There are a few fashion items that I associate with fall. When I think of fall, I think of suede, boots, rich color hues, and puffer jackets. I also think about wearing stripes or plaid clothing, and I’m styling both of those today. I want to take a poll and see which is your favorite fall print.

Stripes or Plaid – Which is Your Favorite

Stripes for Fall

My first outfit consists of a striped oversized button-down shirt, high waist wide leg jeans, faux suede mules, a triple compartment olive satchel, and an eyelet belt. Everything runs true to size except the button-down striped shirt, and it is very oversized. I’m wearing my usual size medium, and it is too baggy for me. I love the color combination of the shirt, but I recommend sizing down. The high waist wide-leg jeans are fabulous. I’m wearing an 8, and they fit perfectly. The mules have a 3.5″ block heel, and I love the braid detail that goes across the top of the mule. The mules run TTS.

Plaid for Fall

I really need to start reading the descriptions better when I’m ordering clothing. I LOVE the color combination of this plaid button-up flannel shirt, but it swallows me. Whenever you see in the description the words “boyfriend,” that is a clue that the item is going to be relaxed and oversized. I should have sized down to a small instead of my usual medium; instead, I ordered a large! I’m re-ordering this soft shirt before it sells out because it is perfect for fall. The “boyfriend” straight jeans are a tad relaxed, but that is the trend right now. I’m wearing my usual size 8, but if you want a tighter fit, then you will want to size down. These western boots are great for fall since they have a higher shaft. The trend in boots is a western style and a higher shaft, so these check off two of the boxes. I’m wearing the burgundy version in my usual size 9.

  1. Live plaid for fall, but stripes are easier to dress up.

  2. Both look fantastic on you. Personally, I go for the vertical stripes. I have wide shoulders and large bust. Plaid makes me look like a lumberjack. Lol! Also love the shirt tucked in.

  3. Tania, I really like the stripes. Plaid is nice, but mostly I like it on flannel shirts, or nightgowns. However, this shirt looks so good on you that I think I need to take your lead and try something I have in the past not liked a lot. Maybe you’ll lead me to my next favorite.

  4. Hi Tania … I got a look at your new website and was impressed .. kudos to your web designer! Stripes or plaid ..I love them both.

    1. I’m still having a few issues, Frani. SO, I had to take it back down for a bit.

  5. Like both and if I had to choose, it would be plaid. 🙂

  6. Catherine F. says:

I vote for the plaid shirt but worn with the wide leg jeans and tan footwear.

  7. I love the plaid shirt!

  8. Just wanted to share, I have a couple of the Old Navy flannel shirts. I ordered my usual M and after washing and drying, the fit is perfect.

Fabulous scripture verse! I don’t have striped or plaid tops in my wardrobe because they aren’t my thing, but I like them on other ladies. I think the stripes are more feminine, however if you wanted to wear a plaid shirt as a topper, it is more versatile. Nope, I can’t pick one over the other.

  10. Definitely plaid for fall 🙂
