50 IS NOT OLD | STAYING WARM IN THE WINTERHappy Saturday gurls!!! Your shopping days are dwindling so I hope you are almost finished with your Christmas shopping. I am almost done, I think. Honestly, I haven’t had time to even sit down and make off my list to see what I am missing. Maybe that is what I will do later on today. Later in this blog post, I am announcing the winner of the Amazon gift card. I loved reading all the comments that everyone left.50 IS NOT OLD | STAYING WARM IN THE WINTERSome of the comments were funny, some sad, and some were sweet. Almost all the comments had to do with family members. I am going to tell you about some early memories I have from when Joe and I first moved here to Virginia. Ashleigh was around 6 or 7 and so Joseph would have been around 4 or 5 when this happened. Santa Claus would always come on Christmas Eve while the entire family was gathered and exchanging gifts. He would bring each child one present that they could open and then bring everything else later that night. My brother-in-law snuck off to become “Santa” and bring in the presents. Lots of ho-ho-hos were being said and then he left after giving all the presents out. Later in the evening, Joseph looked at my brother-in-law and asked him how he got Santa’s shoes. There was a lot of stammering and I can’t even remember what excuse he gave Joseph. We all laughed because Joseph was at “shoe” level. Lol!50 IS NOT OLD | STAYING WARM IN THE WINTERToday was a relaxed day around the house so I have on a gray v-neck t-shirt and jeans. This t-shirt has unique details of maroon trim at the collar and the sleeves are maroon also. This is made in the baseball t-shirt style. Just because you want to wear a t-shirt doesn’t mean that it can’t be cute. Go through your closet and give away/sell/trash anything that is stained, ripped, or 2 sizes too big or small for you. Then buy one of two t-shirts at a time and start supplementing your wardrobe. I promise you will feel so much better about yourself if you do. Even if you are strapped for cash, start looking on eBay, Goodwill, and yard sales. You can find great deals on cute things if you just start searching.

50 IS NOT OLD | STAYING WARM IN THE WINTERI am getting lots of wear out of my Jamie necklace this fall and winter. I swear I was not really thrilled when I ordered the necklace. I have been so surprised that I am constantly pulling this necklace out to wear. It has a gray leather strap and multiple strands of different size silver beads. The matching bracelet is the Maggie which has two strands of smaller silver beads. The denim and rhinestone Ritta bracelet is also a favorite this year. I will wear it almost everytime I wear jeans which is often in the winter months. Go to plunderdesign.com/taniastephens and hit the shop button. Pick a party that has my name on it and have fun shopping. 50 IS NOT OLD | STAYING WARM IN THE WINTER This is my first and only Kate Spade handbag. I had looked at them and even grieved for them but I had never pulled the trigger to buy one. Then I qualified for a Nordstrom gift card from my R+F upline and I thought it would be a great time to buy this gorgeous blue purse, especially since it was on sale.

50 IS NOT OLD | STAYING WARM IN THE WINTER This post has turned into a “favorites” post. Lol! I also have on my new favorite Vigoss jeans with a bootcut leg. I have no idea how I became a fan of the bootcut style, it just crept up on me. I think the deep dark rich blue of the denim and the bright white of the stitching is what is appealing to me. And these suede ankle boots by Isaac Mizrahi were hardly even worn last year and this year I am putting them on constantly. That just goes to show you how your tastes can change from year to year without your even being aware they are changing.

50 IS NOT OLD | STAYING WARM IN THE WINTERJust because I don’t like to wear a heavy coat doesn’t mean that I don’t want to stay warm in the winter. I love a jacket because they keep you warm and they are also figure flattering. They help to create a waist when yours might not be the size that you would like. This is one that I bought last year at Cato because I liked the maroon color. I added the blue crocheted scarf for a little extra visual interest and warmth. When you go out the door, throw on the jacket and scarf, and you will be toasty warm.

50 IS NOT OLD | STAYING WARM IN THE WINTERHere is something else that is a favorite of mine. This Christmas canvas was made by my three grandbabies in Tennessee and I LOVE it. I can’t wait to get it out every year and put it on my door. I think this is much prettier than a wreath, maybe prettier is not the word but you know what I mean.

Now, for the winner of the $25.00 gift certificate from Amazon………Lisa Dawn. You will be getting an email from me later today!!

  1. You may have just blessed me in an unexpected way! I am a nanny to three little ones ages two and under. Your grandchildren’s art has inspired the perfect Christmas present/art project for a mommy and daddy who already has it all but can be very sentimental where their children are concerned. THANK YOU! Who knew a fashion blog for 50+ ladies could be so helpful!

    1. Yay!!! Debbie, I am so glad that you found inspiration. Go to Pinterest and you will find lots of ideas that you can choose from.

Hello from Juneau Alaska! I met your daughter today! She said her Mom was a Plunder Sister! She told me about your blog….it’s awesome! I just wanted to reach out and say hi!

    1. Barbara, she sent me pictures of your display, it looked great!!! She loves me Plunder and always leaves with several pieces when she visits. I hope you continue to visit me on the blog and be sure to keep in touch with Ashleigh.

  3. I really enjoy your style and enjoy your blog. I use many of your outfits as inspiration for myself. I really think you look so cute in the Pixie pants and slim legged jeans and boots/booties. I can’t decide about the bootcut jeans with the white stitching, guess it is good to change it up once in a while!

Love your outfit. I’m almost done with Christmas shopping too. I’ve been helping my mom with hers and doing my mother-in-laws for her since she’s in the nursing home. Glad I love shopping. What a sweet picture that your grandkids made.

You are so good to always answer all of us and that is so time consuming, but appreciated! We all feel like you are our dear friend! How come you don’t like coats? It is 20degrees here this morning and for me that’s way too cold w/I a coat. I love those jeans and boots and you re a lot pulled that whole outfit together w everything matching! That t shirt looks so cute in you! Enjoy your Saturday!

  6. Tania I also love a baseball shirt especially the Randy by lula roe. Its so soft and comfy. I love sign made by your grandkids so cute. You could keep it up till spring since there no mention of christmas. So cute ! Im head to mall to get a few things have a great saturday !

    1. I do keep the sign up until Spring, Nicole. Then I have a bright yellow one with chickens that they did for me and Emersyn is also on that one. Maybe they will do a new one for me that has little Beckham participating soon.

  7. I really like the necklace! Pearls go with just about everything not just Sunday best! Who would have thought of wearing pearls when we were kids with jeans? Itvwasnt done! Nice casual outfit that still looks pulled together! Best…Kathy

    1. You are right, Kathy. I just wasn’t done!

  8. Lisa D Neighbors says:

WHAT! WooHoo! Thanks Tania! I have a pair of Vigoss jeans (that I love) but I need to lose weight to be able to wear them again. Every time that I see yours, I get inspired to get back into mine. Right now, I’m still at the point where I REFUSE to buy a bigger size. I’d rather staple my mouth shut or chain myself to a treadmill than to admit defeat and buy a bigger size pants. LOL

    1. Lisa, maybe the ones you now own have just shrunk. Go to the store and try on another pair. Lots of sales going on right now and right after Christmas.

I am curious how and where you store all your jewelry. I, also, have quite a few pieces (like getting into the hundreds) and have set up a pegboard that I painted to match my bathroom and have hung it behind the door on the wall. It is approximately 3/4 the size of the door and I still find it doesn’t have enough room for everything. How do YOU store them where you can see what you have and don’t forget it’s there? ALSO….do you have a way that you remember what outfits look good together? Again, I have used a system where I take a picture of the outfit I have on and file it under a tab I have set up in my pictures on my phone that says “outfits “. Do you have an easier way of doing this to remember what things go together? And one more thing, I have asked different questions on your reply area and don’t ever see the actual reply. Is there a place I should be going for this? Does it notify me when I reply is posted? My personal email is treyceeb@gmail.com in case that is needed. Thank you and I love reading your blog.

    Treycee (from Northern California)

    1. Treycee, I feel your pain. I have lots and lots and lots of jewelry also. I have several different places that I store my jewelry but the one I use the most is the Longstem Organizer from Amazon. Here is the link to that: https://rstyle.me/n/cvuaz2b6xt7

I am not sure, but look to see if there is a box that you can check when you leave a comment that asks to be notified when a reply is left.

  10. Tania, I am not sure how you work, write a daily blog, do the normal things to keep a household running, shop (lol), spend time with the grandbabies, then add Christmas prep on top of it all, I can barely keep up and I’m retired! Kudos to you!

I am glad you can manage it though because I look forward to your blog everyday. Love the maroon boots, sometimes it’s hard to find cute boots in colours. I’ve been on the hunt for navy blue forever. Lol

    1. There are times, Ruth when I am not sure that I do “any” of it very well. I feel too spread out and don’t have enough time to re-boot. I do love it all, though. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. I love reading them.

    2. Just like to say. U are a very lovely and stylelite lady.
