Standing out from the crowd can be hard, especially when you get to be a certain age. People tend to lump us all into the “over the hill” category, and what we wear is no longer cute, edgy, or relevant. Evidently, we are supposed to fade into the background once we hit 50, but I think that is BUNK! Nope, I’m not going to do it, and neither should you!!!

That doesn’t mean that we should have to wear crazy outfits in order to be noticed, although I’ve seen several VERY successful bloggers who have gone in that direction. I prefer to stand out from the crowd, but still look like an everyday person and not someone who dresses like the runway models at Fashion Week. Have you seen those outfits??? Who in the world wears those styles every day? Not me, that is for sure, and I’m guessing not you either since you follow my blog. Lol!!!

Color is one way that you can choose to stand out. Certain colors fade into the background and others grab attention. Neutrals tend to fade such as black, navy, gray, and shades of cream. Colors that stand out are vibrant such as red, emerald, cobalt, and yellow. Today, I am using a couple of different methods for standing out from the crowd, including my red cashmere turtleneck sweater.

I love wearing turtlenecks in the fall and winter, even though they showcase my extra chins more than other necklines. A v-neck is my favorite neckline most of the time, but I shy away from them more during cold months. I like wearing a turtleneck because it keeps my chest and neck warm, and that is important for someone who freezes all of the time.

I have this same cashmere turtleneck in several colors, and I wear them year after year. This sweater fits a tad bit relaxed, so even though I am wearing a medium, it still has room and isn’t too tight. The sweater is on sale for $40 off the retail price, so you might want to grab a couple for yourself or as Christmas gifts. Here are some other options for you if you can’t wear cashmere. The prices are about the same, but the material is different.

Another way that you can stand out from the crowd is by adding some bling to your look. I know that I will be wearing this red cashmere sweater during the holiday season, and adding the Jack Silver Statement earrings in charcoal gives me a festive vibe. These statement earrings will look great for any fancy event, and they look great when worn with black. Since these earrings create a statement by themselves, I didn’t add a necklace. But, these two would look great if you wanted to add a necklace.

I bet you can guess what other way I am standing out from the crowd. These black and white printed wide-leg pants are definitely eye-catching. The lounge pants are silky and flowy, and they are very comfortable. The only drawback to these pants is that they are very lightweight and thin. I was afraid that you might be able to see through them, but once they were on, that wasn’t an issue.

I feel like these are the type of pants that you either love or hate, and there won’t be much middle ground. I’m in love with them, and I have already yanked the tag off of them and have them hanging in my closet. The pants make a HUGE statement and they are only $45, so I don’t care if they are something that I’ll only wear once or twice a year. Since they are lightweight and thin, you can wear them in the summer also. I am wearing a medium, and they are plenty roomy and fit me great.

I’ve had these black pointy-toed faux-suede boots since last year, and I am still loving them. The pointy toe elongates your legs, and I think they look great with ankle jeans. I am wearing my usual size 9, and they run true to size. The boots are also available in brown if you are needing that color instead.

This was one of my daughter’s crazy poses. Lol! I guess that since I am wearing crazy pants, a crazy pose was warranted. I can’t wait to hear what you think about this outfit. Would YOU wear it???

I didn’t get a lot of feedback regarding the giveaway, so this week will be the last one for now. I’ve missed commenting back to your comments, so after this week, we will go back to normal. I will probably do another one the week of Christmas, so be looking for that one.

I do love this outfit on you! Years ago (think 1980’s), I had a blouse with a print similar to the pants and I loved it! I finally got rid of it because it had the enormous should pads from way back when!!
Anyway, I think I would wear the pants with a different top in warmer weather. I love all your posts and the fashions you share with us. Keep it up, Sister! May Gold bless you and yours!

I missed when you asked for feedback about the weekly give always. I think that it is a very nice touch. Maybe once a month would be nice in 2022. While you look great in this outfit, it is not something I would wear since it doesn’t fit my personality.

  3. Tania, you are rocking those pants! The whole outfit looks great and fits your perky and fun personality. Love it!

  4. Really like the red sweater but wow the pants are a bit too loud for me. 😉

I love this outfit- particularly the pants! I would wear them.

  6. I AM IN LOVE with this outfit!!!!! I am meeting some schoolmates later on this month and I AM SOOO wearing this!!!

  7. Peggy Eaton says:

I definitely would wear it! I love the look of those pants and with the red sweater – I would have thought of black but the red is so much better!

You look absolutely stunning. I’d notice you the second you walked into the room for all the right reasons. I don’t consider it too far out there. Just think of it as a swooshy long skirt that has legs in classic black and white in an eye-catching print! I think it is a fab party outfit for most women.

  9. Tania, you always look great! I love your style, and you challenge me to stretch my style and be more “fun” with what I wear. I love the red sweater, but I think the pants would be too much for me. I don’t have a lot of flowy pants, and I would probably start with a soft black – maybe with a bit of shine. That would still look fabulous with that red sweater. I just got really comfortable with skinny pants – I am having trouble moving back to loose ones in my mind. That’s why I love your blog – you show me how to look stylish with newer trends, without looking silly.

Love those pants! And the whole outfit is great. Going to the local Walmart to look for the boots. Thanks.
