SPREADING YOURSELF THIN
Have you ever had one of those days when you feel like a pat of butter on a piece of toast? That is how I am feeling right now. I am being “spread thin.” Don’t get me wrong, I know that it is all my fault, but I am still feeling pretty stressed.
My morning devotional time is not up for negotiations, that time is etched in stone. It is from there onward that I need some help. I try to answer some comments that have already been made (thank you for leaving them) when I get up. I upload my picture to Pinterest, and then head to FaceBook. I answer the comments there, and then take the dogs out to potty. When I get back, I upload my pictures to my iphoto and start the editing process. Once they are finished, I transfer then to wordpress to start on my blog post for the next day. I work on the post till it is time to start getting ready to go to work (my real job). After I get to work, I am not able to look at the comments until I go to the bank and post office. While I wait in line at the bank, I get out my phone and upload a picture to Instagram, and then answer comments if I have time.
When the day is over, I head home and change clothes for an afternoon of golf with Joe. (rain, rain, go away) It is usually 8:30 at best by the time we get back home. Then it is time to fix something light for supper, and finish the blog post for the next day. Add in the fact that I am trying to work on my workshop and a sandwich board (a commercial for my workshop), now you can see how I might be a little stressed. You would think that you would sleep good when you are tired, but not! Instead all the little details that still need to be done are running through my mind, and now you have one worn out little puppy.I almost didn’t use this set of pictures for the blog. There is nothing wrong with the outfit, I just don’t look the best. Then I remembered that this is a blog about clothing, not a blog about my looks, so here they are. Most of the time my pictures are made right before I head out the door for work, so I generally look alright. However, there are times when that is not the case. Today’s picture were made after I went to church one Sunday. You would think that there wouldn’t be a problem with that, I should look good for going to church. BUT, did I mention that I came home from church and laid down for a two hour nap. Now you know the rest of the story. Hahaha
Let’s start with the jewelry. I have worn all these pieces before, so I did not take up close photos. The necklace I have on is the Felice and I also have on the matching bracelet called the Faye. The earrings are some that came in my signup kit. The last two pieces I have one, are the Bonny bracelet and the Eunice bracelet. I have an August contest running with Plunder. EVERYONE who places an order from Plunder through me in the month of August, will be entered in for a $25.00 Plunder gift certificate. You can buy a bracelet, and you will be entered into the contest. To shop with me, here is the website: http://www.plunderdesign.com/taniastephens Try copying and pasting this in the address line, and hopefully it will work. If not, then type in my stylist number 241007 in the stylist box at checkout. I have started an online party, and there is a dropdown box where you can choose Tania’s P Party at checkout also. Several of you ladies have already taken me up on this offer. Good Luck!
This top reminds me of a mosaic tile design that you would see on a tabletop. I love the colors in the top, they are some of my favorite colors. Turquoise, gray, orange, cobalt, white, and yellow are all colors in this top. The straps on this top are extremely wide, and in looking at the pictures, if they had been a little thinner it might have been more flattering. This made my shoulders look really wide.

The mustard pants are by Banana Republic. And I have worn these several times this year. Here is where I wore them with cobalt blue. This color of yellow will be easy to wear all the way into winter. This, spicy mustard, is one of the colors of the fall, according to Pantone. Wearing a color that is popular, but is not “your” color, is easy to do by putting them in a pant, short, or skirt. These are clothing items that will not be around your face.

I have on a pair of Marc Fisher wedge sandals with gold ring details. I wear these shoes pretty often because they will match almost anything. Here is the same shoe design, but in a flat sandal. The blue tote was chosen to bring out the blue shade in the top.

Please don’t wear yourself out. I echo all those before me who say take it easy. We’ll still be here, reading whenever you post.
You did not mention the maker of the beautiful top. I am often able to recreate your looks by shopping resale sites. Many of my co-teachers have told me that over the past few months I have kicked my fashion sense up a couple of notches (that’s all you). Most are in their twenties and thirties, so I feel quite flattered ( I am the most “mature” teacher in the building at 58). Thank you for all your wonderful fashion advice!
I love your blog and also today’s outfit! I agree with all the reply’s! Take the weekend’s off…Do 3 days a week! You DON’T have to blog everyday! There have been so many times when reading your blog that I’ve thought to myself I can’t believe she does this every day!
NO WONDER you’re frazzeled! You’ve got to take at least one day a week to slow down & not do all that! We love you & thoroughly enjoy your posts, but you can only do so much! Take time for you!
Hi Tania,
I often wonder how bloggers manage to juggle their blog, instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Snapchat etc., let alone adding another job to the equation. I’m exhausted just thinking about what all that entails. You have an admirable dedication to your readers, but YOU must put yourself first. Life is too short to be stressed out and running on fumes. As much as I love reading your posts, I often miss some because I don’t always have time to read it. It seems like a lot of bloggers are posting daily and I just can’t keep up with them all. Like others said I’ve become a “scroller” too. Sometimes I just look at the photo and move on. Do whatever you need to do to lessen your load and give yourself some downtime. We all need to give ourselves some downtime to re-charge our batteries. ❤️
Hi Tania, You are amazing you know – i post every second day and sometimes it is every third day…this post of your reminds me of the beginning of this year in NZ when my Mum took me to a place totally remote from any wifi signal – not even one for the phone…I had to stand outside the library to get enough signal to post an instagram picture and then I decided to let loose and really take 3 days off. It was seriously the best thing I ever did – I managed to recharge and came back to my dear blog funkyforty.com with new energy which has kept on going…
Perhaps you should give yourself a 5 day holiday – tell us all you are doing this and I bet you will feel fab and no harm done at all!
Have a lovely day,
Yvonne xx

Gurl!!! Such a relatable post today! Love your posts and today’s ootd, but you have my permission to take a break from your own success now & then. I promise we will all still adore you and follow you. Your heart is so open and kind, don’t forget to give yourself the same you give others. Nurse Naomi (my bossy alter ego) says streamline or reduce your online self and love your real life! Less details to lie awake about, more rest!?
I don’t know how ypu do it all!!! Do you work fulltime? You always look great and have a positive attitude!!!
I’m 57 and have really loved seeing your posts. You are so stylish and I wish I had your courage & knack of dressing & accessorizing! I notice that a lot of bloggers with tons of followers do not answer every post & maybe that is what you’ll have to resort to? Also, how about cutting back your hours on your “real” job! HA!
Tania, one of the readers, “Toni”, admitted something that might not occur to you: your readers are busy and something scroll hurriedly through your daily Blog. Let that thought sink in a bit, over the course of a day or two….”Taking a break” here and there might not be a solution, but finding a more workable Blog schedule might be: 3 days per week? Entirely reasonable. Continuous stress causes adrenals to over-function and deplete, leading to illness. I have a friend who has what I call “terminal busyness”, in that she rushes from place to place, overbooks herself, and has ‘To Do’ lists running through her head a night…..She also had a mild heart attack last year (She’s about your age) and has had to rethink her constant state of hurriedness…….
You need to take a day or 2 off during the week gurl! I do love your blog, but sometimes find myself scrolling through quickly because I don’t have the time to read everything! We can catch up on the days you don’t post!
You always look beautiful! Don’t stress yourself, do like the othersong say and take a break.
Wow!
I’m tired reading all that!
Take a sabbath!
I always hv to tell myself What am I
Responsible for ?
Love your blog!
Hi there! I have enjoyed your blog and love your outfits. I think Pauline’s advice about taking a weekend blog break is a good and we would totally understand. I have to share that a couple of years ago I began a journey of practicing contemplative prayer. Just google it if you haven’t heard of it. It has been a game changer as far as peace in the midst of a busy life is concerned. Armchair Mystic by Mark Thibodeaux is a beautiful book with practical advice. I am constantly battling my “Martha” mentality…..busy, busy, busy. But I want to live a “Mary” life; to move from a life of being busy for God to a life of surrender to the King!
OK Gurl you are too hard on yourself!! We LOVE you and your posts! The top looks great and it does NOT make your shoulders look big!! You always look great! Calm down!
I agree with thevother ladies, don’t stress yourself!
The first thing I thought when I saw your picture is how slim you look, not how wide your shoulders looked! I love your blog and all of the outfits you wear. Thanks for the inspiration.
Look forward to reading your posts every morning and seeing how well you have put yourself together…don’t stress when you aren’t feelin your best..have Joe take a pix from the shoulders down..lol…we just want you to be HAPPY! God Bless you!
I have same BR pants! I’m getting much more adventurous with what I wear with them because of you!! Gorgeous top, too.
I love all your posts and like Amy said you are real with a true heart for the Lord. A big bonus.
I too understand needing a break and being new to the post would love seeing older ones.
Take care gurl.
I absolutely LOVE this outfit! And I would have never in a million years thought, “Oh, Tania doesn’t look her best.” You look great. Maybe you should take a nap and then pictures more often. LOL Thank you for the continuing fashion and life inspiration!

I love the way you show passion in your cloths and how to wear them even on a rainy day you make it seem that the sunshine is still high abouve. Love this outfit brings out the fresh life .
A solution will be that you take all weekends off from blogging Tania. You blog is great and your followers would understand that decision. You need to take care of yourself. Love today’s outfit.
Tania — I so love your posts. You keep it real, girl, and have a heart for Jesus. Bonus! Don’t ever feel guilty about taking care of you.
Back in June I challenged myself to blog every day for 30 days. It was great for the blog, but very hard on me! Even when it was stressing me out I was like a dog with a bone…”I. Will. Not. Miss. A. Day!!!” But really, that was just pressure I put on MYSELF.
Don’t put so much pressure on yourself that you’re exhausted all the time or not sleeping from worry.
Take care of you!!!
It amazes me how you do all that you do. I have thought you must really enjoy all of the activities, and that is what keeps you so youthful! ? The most important thing though is that you take care of yourself. Sometimes a nap or an earlier bedtime is the best remedy. I love your blog and want to continue to see your daily posts BUT you have to be well to grant me my wish! May today be an enjoyable day with less stress.
Agreed! It’s been amazing how you’ve been posting daily, and I have loved it, but your well being comes first. Whenever you need a breather, we “gurls” support you. It is also a reminder to the rest of us to take care of ourselves as well.
Your outfit looks perfect for summer–cool and comfortable—on point in all respects. Colorful but not overpowering. Thanks for giving me inspiration day after day to take my look up a notch. I’m about to launch into a 2 year work project that will be highly demanding. Your outfits help this gurl look fashion forward when time is tight (and because I don’t have a very developed sense of fashion!)
Hope you enjoy some down time soon!
I also join Caroline s comment. Please don’t overwork yourself.
Hi Tania,
I agree with Caroline, instead of putting so much stress on yourself post earlier outfits.
I for one would love to see them
Oh Tania, I’m sure I speak for all of your gurls when I say we love having a post from you every morning to brighten our day but we don’t want you to make yourself ill ☹️ Please take a break if you need to, it would be nice to just see the outfits from your earlier posts for those of us that were late finding you…
Very well said Caroline. If you do take a break, check out Lysa Terkeurst’s book, “The Best Yes”. I did a Bible study on it, which was excellent. I will keep you in my prayers Tania. ~Lisa~
