SHOULD YOU WEAR LIGHT OR DARK COLORS ON YOUR LOWER HALF
Can you tell that I’m in an “active” mood? I sit all day long at a computer, so it is hard for me to exercise during work hours. My daughter and I have been trying to go to the gym in the mornings, but between her bad back and my tight shoulders, we have missed a lot of mornings. When that happens, we try to take an afternoon walk instead to stay active.
I made a massive order from Walmart to grab some lighter fabrics to keep me from burning up on our walks. We’ve been taking short walks so far because I don’t want to aggravate my plantar fasciitis. I can still feel it in my heel, but it doesn’t bother me too bad to go for short walks for the most part. My daughter has a list of stretches for me to do to help it, but I’m not consistent with them. Walking in the sunshine is good for my soul, even if it isn’t suitable for my foot. Lol!
As soon as I spied this blue and pink camo windbreaker, I knew that it would be something that would stay in my closet. I love a quarter-zip because it is easier to put on and a little of your shirt underneath shows. When you are out walking, especially in spring, you need a windbreaker to keep the wind from going right through you. Plus, it has kangaroo pockets, so you can keep your keys and phone handy and not lose them on your walk. I’m wearing a large, and it fits me great.
You might not need a windbreaker every day, so I added this blue moonlight performance long sleeve t-shirt. This lightweight and soft tee are great for layering or wearing alone. I also love the drawstring sides, which let you adjust the length of the tee. The top has thumbholes for the times when you want to keep your hand warm. I’m wearing a large in the top, and it is a tiny bit big on me. The top has a relaxed fit, so a medium would probably have worked better.
I love the cotton candy pink color of these wide-leg flare sweatpants. However, I think these sweatpants are a little too short for me. I usually wear at least a 32″ inseam for long pants, and these must be shorter than that. It doesn’t give the measurement on the website, but I’m guessing closer to 30″ or 31″. You wouldn’t think an inch or two would make that big of a difference, but the length would drive me crazy. This pair would work better for me since the inseam is 32″. I’ll link to other items that would work in case you aren’t interested in wide-leg pants. BTW, I am wearing a large in these sweatpants.
Of course, my sneakers had to match my outfit. Lol! These navy/purple Avia Women’s Tech Runner sneakers are comfy and great for shopping while I’ll be on my feet for hours. The sneakers run true to size, and are under $25! These also come in black/white, and I’m styling those below!
Several of the items in this outfit are the same as above but in a different color. Sometimes changing the color of a piece of clothing can completely change the item’s look.
Because dark gray camo would not be that flattering near my face, I chose to add the darker color on the bottom half of my outfit and keep the upper part a light color. Dark colors recede, so if your hips or thighs are where you carry weight, then keeping a dark bottom half will be more flattering on you.
This medium gray performance shirt is identical to the blue one above, but I think this one makes me look larger than the blue one did. If you have broad shoulders, consider picking medium to darker colors on the upper half to help your shoulders appear smaller. I am wearing a large in this shirt, the same size that I’m wearing in the blue one above.
My black camo jogger pants are super soft! Even though this outfit isn’t a set, it is still very match-matchy. I love adding a pop of color, but I also love a monochromatic outfit. Be careful wearing this outfit in the woods, though, especially in deer or turkey season. Lol! The joggers have two pockets, so I am happy about that, and I like the tapered leg with the ribbed jogger hem. I am wearing a medium, and these fit great. If you want a more relaxed look, then size up one size.
These are the same sneakers as above but in the black/white version. You could wear these sneakers with any pair of jeans or joggers, and they will look great.

Love the variety of stores that you feature. Also like that you give sizing information.
BTW, I gifted my sister the R&F Lash Boost because she said that her eyelashes had disappeared. Talked with her tonight and she says the stuff is genius. She has been using it for about 2-3 months and she again has lashes.
Love your blog! I’ve had plantar fasciitis before. Not fun! Try Oofos sandals. I use them as slippers and rarely go barefoot. Also…stretch!!! I haven’t had problems in a few years. Good look and keep showing us these cute outfit ideas!
I’m trying to stretch, but I can’t get consistent with them. I’ll look into those sandals, thanks.
I’m checking into both of these items from Linda & Barbara. I love that we can all share helpful tips. 2 wks ago PF kicked in. Haven’t had an issue in 10 yrs but here we go. Truly appreciate these tips. Thank you.
Tania, love this post. I don’t think of Walmart for clothing but I am definitely going on line and check it out.
I received the sneakers in the blue & lavender combo and love them! And a few of my online friends from Jo-Lynne Shane’s blog group have ordered them as well. Both outfits are perfect for your walks and other activities.
I too have suffered from plantar fasciitis from time to time. I picked up these socks on Amazon and they are amazing and sorted the problem right out. Worth looking into: Heel-ER Plantar Fasciitis Compression Foot Sleeves
Thanks, Linda. I’ll look into that!!!
Fun post as usual! I also have had issues with plantar fasciitis over the years. Always wear shoes – always wear orthotic inserts or shoes with built in inserts like Vionic brand. Most recent issue was specific pain in heel that was afraid was a bone spur. Tried another brand of insert and it was like magic – no more pain after about 2 weeks of use. Seriously impressed with the results. Here’s the website if interested. I’m using the full length insert with fascia bar. Good luck!
