50 Is Not Old | Short, Sweet & ShaggyWhen you have more to do than you have time, something has to give. The something tonight is this post. I wasn’t smart enough to plan ahead and do a post early, because tonight I have a woman’s club meeting. Therefore, you will be getting the short and sweet version. Haha50 Is Not Old | Short, Sweet & ShaggyHere comes the shaggy part. This weekend when my sister-in-law was here,  she noticed a small dog running behind my house on the railroad tracks. Yes, I have a train that runs right behind my house. We went outside and called for it, but it ran away. I went next door to see if it was their’s, but it wasn’t. I looked for it again that night, but never saw it again. Last night when I took Beckley outside to potty, he took off like lightening after that same small dog. I yelled like a mad woman till he finally came back, but the other poor dog was long gone. Then this morning the poor thing was on my back porch eating the cat’s food. I snuck out the side door to see if I could catch it, but nope once again.50 Is Not Old | Short, Sweet & Shaggy

As, I was leaving to go to work, I was driving down the road in front of the house, and the little dog started running down the street in front of me. I stopped the car and honked the horn. It actually stopped and looked at me, so I opened up the door and called for it, and it actually came to me. Poor little thing was FILTHY. Not just a little bit, but muddy, nasty, stinky, dirty. I picked it up and put it in the car, and it seemed right at home. I am sure I stunk by the time I made it to work. I just happened to have a dog crate at work, don’t ask why, so I put it in the crate and found it some food. It gobbled down two bowls. I called the dog groomer and she agreed to work the dog in, to try to get out some of the cockleburs.50 Is Not Old | Short, Sweet & Shaggy

When “she” got back from the groomers, she consumed some left over food, a few French fries, Girl Scout cookies, and some chicken. It was what we had on hand. I am going to post on FaceBook that I found a dog, and let anyone that is missing one send me a picture to see if it is theirs. Otherwise it looks like me or my sister-in-law will be getting a dog. After all she is the one who spotted her. Haha.50 Is Not Old | Short, Sweet & Shaggy

Till then, she needs a name. Bertha says Gypsy, Sandy says Missy, I have been calling her Lucy Goosey, and my son says Sassy. Do you gurls have any suggestions? As I write this she is under my left arm, sound asleep on the couch. And, I have just discovered she snores. Lol!50 Is Not Old | Short, Sweet & ShaggyNow for the fashion part of this post. I took this picture probably a week ago. I was trying to get in a few pictures, just in case one of my outfits didn’t turn out like I had hoped. Guess what??? Yep, you guessed it. The outfit I wore didn’t look too hot in the pictures. That more than likely means that it didn’t look good in person either. Haha  So, I pulled this one out of the archives. The cardigan is by August Silk, and that probably means I bought it at T J Maxx. Here is a similar one. The white top is the Simple V (c/0) from Covered Perfectly, it is the perfect summer top. The navy sailor type pants were from Old Navy, and they are at least 3 or 4 years old. Here is a similar pair.

Sorry, I don’t have a lot of fashion on the blog today. I just didn’t manage my time very well. I will make it up to you tomorrow. And if the pooch is still here, I’ll post a picture! Remember to vote on a name, just in case.

I want to thank everyone who has entered for the Stella & Dot tote giveaway. If you have not already entered, then go here to enter.

  1. I should have mentioned this……there are wonderful no kill shelters. They even have foster homes that can keep them until their forever home can be found. Small dogs usually go quickly. I could not have kept the little dog I found because one of my dogs (my dogs were big dogs) didn’t like sharing me. The poor little dog would tinkle every time my dog went after her (she wouldn’t have bitten her but she was sure drawing the line in the sand).

  2. So, I found a little dog a couple of years ago. I posted her photo and my contact info. In the mean time I tried every name I could think of trying to guess her name. The owner had been on vacation and the little dog escaped from the yard. I asked what her name was……it was DISCO. It makes me smile every time I think about it.

  3. Missy Boykin says:

    I vote for, Gypsy.

  4. I vote for Lucky!!!❤

  5. You are such a dear to take the doggie in until you find the owner…however, if she is a keeper, how about Stella, since she does have a little attitude ; ) The name Gypsy and it is very appropriate…
Good luck with your little ward today : )

  6. Gypsy. I bought a pink purse…….so you are thinking ok. But you see I never switch purses with outfits. You are a wonderful teacher. I thank you once again!!

  7. Donna Nance says:

Poor little dog was frightened and hungry and you rescued her. I love a happy ending! She and Beckley may become fast friends and cuddle together. Gypsy is a perfect name for her.

  8. I love this story. The little pup (I vote for Gypsy) is so lucky to have found you! I got my cutie at the Humane Society and I just love him. Good luck finding the owner!

  9. Always know good people if they have the compassion to rescue! Her name will come to you!
