RING IN THE NEW YEAR IN STYLE
Good morning!!! Did any of you stay up partying last night? How about, did any of you watch the ball drop last night? Or, did any of you at least think to yourself before you went to bed, “tomorrow is a brand new year?” Lol! I might have fallen into the last category myself, and there is no shame in that at all. Watching the ball drop is something that I like to do, but as my daughter commented yesterday, “it is kind of anti-climatic.”
I just told Joe that next year I want to ring in the new year from Paris. Of course, I had to make sure that I told him that I meant France, not Tennessee. LOL! I have never been overseas, and I am not sure that I will like traveling that far, but we are to the age where we need to travel while we still can. I see a lot of you posting pictures from other countries, and I have never been tempted to travel. But, for some reason, I am getting the itch to see things that I have never seen before. But, according to the weather, now would not be the best time to travel to France. SO, those of you who travel, what would be a great place (temperature-wise) to ring in the new year in 2021?
The first thing that I want to do is set your mind at ease. I am NOT standing on an active train track. The cars behind me (and some on the other side of me that you can’t see) are not attached to an engine. This track is not active at the moment, look at the rust on the rails. The tracks on the other side are the ones used daily to transport coal from our county so that it can be made into steel.
The Stewart tartan plaid top that I have on is very stylish. I wanted to start the new year off with a stylish outfit, so be sure to let me know if I succeeded. The colors in this top are great for the holidays, but they are not something that you can wear only at this time of the year. This top, with its cute puff sleeves, can be worn all spring long. It is lightweight, made from cotton, and is machine washable. It is also very popular, and only available in small sizes. I am wearing a medium, in case you were wondering. Even if your size is no longer available, you can easily incorporate this pattern into your wardrobe.
The color of these ankle pants is beautiful. It is called Rioja on the website, but I have no idea what that word means. So, I am going to call them a claret instead. These are an ankle-length style, and they have a high waist with a tie belt. The pants are a blend of Polyester, Rayon, and Spandex, plus they are machine washable. I am wearing my usual size 10, and they fit great, if not a little loose. These pants come in black also, and here is the link.
All of you that say that you can’t wear heels; here you go. Finding cute flats is not an easy task, but these jeweled flats sure fit the bill. These have a padded insole, so they are comfortable as well as cute. They fit true to size, and they are on sale. Enough said!!! Here is the link.
My green beaded necklace is a vintage find from years ago. I didn’t bother to check the tag, but this looks like Vendome or Vogue to me. I love vintage jewelry, but obviously, you can’t click on a link to get your own necklace. But, I thought that you would appreciate seeing this piece. I own this necklace (here) and one almost identical to this one. I don’t own (this), but it is a gorgeous Vendome piece if you like green.
When my daughter takes my photos, this look happens a lot. I love having her around, and I am already dreading when she heads back to Alaska in a few days. I am trying hard to remember to be thankful for having her home for several weeks, instead of dwelling on her leaving. Joe and I are going to make plans for a trip this summer to spend time with her and Andy.
I am wearing an older knit blazer in black that I have had for several years. It is a tiny bit on the big side, so I don’t wear it very often. When I was looking for some similar links for you, I found a couple that is on sale that I think I am going to order for myself in hopes of finding one that fits me good. A classic black blazer should be a staple in everyone’s closet!
I hope that you have enjoyed the way that I started 2020 off, and I would love to hear your opinions. Let me know if there are particular looks that you would like to see, or if there is a topic that you would like for me to talk about in an upcoming post.
How is your memory???
Have you done any of the following? Walked into a room and forgot why you went into the room? Drove by the place that you were supposed to turn off? Or, maybe you have been telling a story and forgot what you were saying???

Love your outfit!
ps — Go to Paris!!!
Happy New Year to you Tania and to your family!
Wishing you a year of wonderful memories and excellent health.
Speaking of memories. Please go out and travel and see this wonderful world we live in. It will be an education filled with wonderful sights to see. It really surprises me when I hear of people never leaving their country to see how others live. I have always been curious and have been blessed to see more than 15 countries. I was born in England and raised in Canada. My family has always traveled. Each country has it’s own beauty. A must see and be put on your bucket list. My husband and I are traveling on a Viking cruise this spring. Visiting the Swiss Alps, Germany and France. Can’t wait! I know you are not big on aircrafts so a cruise might be a good way to start. It is like a huge hotel. They treat you like a King and Queen. You deserve that! Give it ago and I bet you will want to travel again.
Thank you for your wonderful blogs and photos! Love reading them.
Best wishes for this new year 2020.
Your traveling friend from Canada!

Ha, when you said Paris, it made me think of Paris, Tennessee. I used to live there back in the 80s. Nice little town. I love your outfit.
Tania – Tell Joe to just TRY a cruise!! You never know until you try. We love cruising. You unpack once and leave the driving to the captain!! Happy New Year!!
I just read your comment about Joe thinking he would hate a cruise, and I must tell you we used to think the same thing – ugh, you’re stuck on a boat with forced socializing & not much to do – but it’s not like that at all, just the opposite. Anyhoo, if you can’t convince him, how about just going to Waikiki or Maui for NY 2021?
love this outfit! so cute on you – very classic; I’m trying to quit buying trendy clothes and building my wardrobe up with things that won’t go out of style – nice clothes are expensive but I just need to do it instead of buying things that won’t hold up; now to tackle the issue of all the different sizes in my closet LOL —-in that vein, I’m redoing my closet; do you use the “huggable hanger” type Joy Mangano hangers? I’m thinking of investing in those, everyone says they are the best to increase your closet space – happy new year and thanks for all the humor and great tips 🙂
Happy New Year, Tania! I just picked up the shoes & I think that’s a great way to start the new year (decade!) off right. We’ve been traveling since we retired & I now definitely have the wanderlust bug. I’d like to suggest that Hawaii would be the perfect place to usher in 2021, specifically the NCL cruise that stops at four islands. (They’re the only cruise line that has this itinerary.) We’re going for the second time this spring & I’m SO looking forward to it. You can’t go wrong with the beautiful scenery, amazing weather, and the great Aloha spirit of the people!
Happy New Year! Sydney, Australia would be my New Years Eve location of choice although I think cruise would be fun
Happy, happy new year! For the future, my closet is full but have nothing to wear. Fit is wrong, nothing looks good together! Where do I start to make sense of it, not get in the same situation again. Help!
I agree with Lorraine above. A beach vacay in Australia for New Years is the way to go.
