Praise Him! Praise Him! Jesus, Our Blessed Redeemer!
Next Sunday is Christmas Eve. With Christmas almost being here, I’ve been thinking a lot about Jesus and how he came into the world just for us. At night, when I wake up, there are always two songs that are on repeat in my brain. The first is Holy, Holy, Holy, and the second is Praise Him! Praise Him! It seems I like songs that have repeating words in the title.
When I’m anxious or my mind is racing, I sing Holy, Holy, Holy. I love the song, and I sing it in my mind much slower than I’ve heard it before. I usually only sing one verse, and I’ll sing it over and over again.
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning, our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy, merciful, and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!
This song calms me down, and I am able to drift back off to sleep. Knowing that the Lord is with me takes away my anxious thoughts and reminds me who is in control and that it is NOT me.
Some nights I wake up with Praise Him! Praise Him! on my mind. This is the song that is on repeat right now, and I think that Christmas might be the reason. I grew up hearing this song in church, and I always think of my grandmother when I hear it. She had a loud, very shrill voice, so she could be heard above the entire congregation when we sang. It is funny that I was embarrassed as a child to hear her sing, and now it is one of my favorite memories of her.
There are so many reasons to praise the Lord! Here are a few that I wanted to highlight.
Creator of the Universe
CAN YOU IMAGINE??? I always praise the Lord for His wonderful creation and for letting me experience this gorgeous world. There are times when I look around me, and I’m filled with awe at how the Lord spoke this into existence. He created earth, and ALL creatures, including you and me.
Isaiah 40:28
28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
Light of the World
This world is full of darkness, and I am thankful that the Lord is the light of the world. He will guide us, and we never have to be consumed by the darkness that is all around us. I like to feel like the Lord is my force field, and I am encapsulated in a bubble that is impenetrable.
John 8:12
12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Redeemer
Thank you, Lord, for your redeeming blood. Without His sacrifice, we wouldn’t have a chance to spend eternity in Heaven. His grace and forgiveness, along with the blood of The Lamb, is our only chance since we are all sinners.
Ephesians 1:7
7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace
Advocate
I can’t tell you how many times I interceeded for my children when they were young. When they messed up, which was more times than I can count, I would talk to Joe and intercede on their part. By the time the children came to him, he had already thought about the issue and was ready to receive them in a calm and understanding manner. (most of the time) If Joe and I did that for our children, can you imagine how much more the Lord would do for us?
Romans 8:34
34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
These are just a few reasons to praise the Lord, and I want to make today an interactive post. List some of the reasons YOU praise the Lord. I love hearing stories of how the Lord has shown up in your lives. Your testimonies speak volumes. If you want to keep your name private, enter a different name or a code. No one can see your email address, so don’t worry about that.
To GOD Goes The Glory!
Have A Blessed Day!
I love this song Mary, Did You Know this time of year!
It is one of my favorites!!!
I praise God for His gift of Salvation and how He loves us unconditionally! I’m so thankful His mercies are new every single day.
I too sing Holy, Holy, Holy when I wake up in the middle of the night. It’s so calming and what better way to spend my time than to praise Him! ❤️
Very good message. I can’t possibly list all God has done for me. I am so grateful.
Thanks for the precious post today. I sing often and many times in the car I sing out loud. Right now I am singing every Christmas carol I can think of at the time. Merry Christmas
I love Christmas carols.
So many reasons to praise Jesus. His goodness for one, I look back over my life and see his goodness from the beginning. He is always with us and won’t leave us or forsake us, as you also said Tania. I love that song “My Jesus” because if you know him and love him, you want to say “Let Me Tell You About My Jesus”! Merry Christmas Tania to you and your family. God Bless.
I praise God for giving me another day, a roof over my head, a warm bed in which to sleep, ability to function without help, food to eat, employment, medical care, love of family and friends. I’ve never been homeless, hungry, unloved or neglected but am keenly aware that others in the world are not as blessed. I don’t take any of these blessings for granted.
Amen
I thank God every morning for the beautiful sunrise and sky that only He can create. Then I thank Him for the granted a new day. I pray for family, my church family, friends , the neighbors near and far, the world and those who govern the world. Of course I pray for the sick in body, mind or spirit. And for the Holy Spirit to be present to guide all of the above.
Then for me to be guided to follow the Lord through the day.
I try to remember to be mindful of the little wonders that are present in my life.
I truly love to talk to my Father God.
Lin, you have a wonderful list and I know everyone on your prayer list appreciates your thinking of them.
I praise the Lord for my church family. Our pastor is sick. So today our worship/youth ministry preached. He’s young and I’m so proud of him! Today he shared that there’s a gap between us and the divine. It is sin. We cannot fill that gap, only Jesus can. The law was given to show us “the mountain” was impossible for us to climb. God came down the mountain in the form of a baby. After 33 years he climbed up the mountain, the hill, and gave his life for me, for everyone. He climbed where I was supposed to climb.
Perfection came down for the imperfect! Heaven came down! To God be the glory!
Tania, what a great post. I, too, have a theme song when I’m feeling discouraged or anxious. I love the chorus to Sanctus Real’s “Confidence.” I haven’t tried it when I’m sleepless but I’m sure gonna give it a try. Thank you!!!
… So give me faith like Daniel in the lion’s den
Give me hope like Moses in the wilderness
Give me a heart like David, Lord be my defense
So I can face my giants with confidence!
Love the Sunday blog – blessings to you and your family – Jesus is King and our gracious savior !
Great word this morning.
