Nordstrom Rack Finds You’ll Love: Chic Fall Outfits for Women Over 50

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I love nice things, but I don’t love paying full price for them. That’s why Nordstrom Rack has been a longtime favorite of mine. Over the years, I’ve scored some of my best pieces there, designer denim, classic sweaters, and handbags that make me feel pulled together without draining my wallet. The thrill of finding a high-quality brand for less never gets old!

Fall is the perfect time to check out what’s new at Nordstrom Rack. The weather is changing, the trends are shifting, and most of us are ready for a little refresh in our closets. Today I’m sharing three fall outfits I put together entirely from Nordstrom Rack. They’re chic, age-appropriate, and easy to wear, whether you’re running errands, heading out to dinner, or just wanting to look stylish for everyday life.

This post is sponsored by Nordstrom Rack, but the
opinions expressed are my own.

A Classic Fall Outfit from Nordstrom Rack

Woman wearing a layered fall outfit with a beige crewneck sweater over a button-up shirt, wide-leg jeans, and leopard print booties, styled with a suede crossbody bag.

When fall rolls around, I always seem to circle back to the classics. I love trying new trends, but there’s something about timeless pieces that just makes getting dressed feel easy. This look has all my favorite things: quality basics, a little layering, and a dash of fun with leopard booties. And the best part? Everything is from Nordstrom Rack, which means it looks luxe but didn’t cost me full price.

Why This Outfit Works

  • Layers keep the look polished but comfortable
  • Jeans + sweater = timeless, but leopard booties give it personality
  • Every piece is versatile enough to wear multiple ways
  • Quality brands at Nordstrom Rack prices mean you’re saving money without sacrificing style

Eileen Fisher Crewneck Organic Cotton Sweater

This sweater is one of those staples that you’ll keep reaching for over and over. It’s soft, lightweight, and easy to layer. I went with the neutral shade because it pairs with everything, but Nordstrom Rack always has a good mix of Eileen Fisher pieces at a fraction of the regular price.

Why it works:

  • Neutral color makes it versatile for fall and winter
  • Lightweight knit is perfect for layering without bulk
  • Classic crewneck flatters without feeling stuffy

FRAME Le Slim Palazzo High-Waist Wide-Leg Jeans

High Waist Wide Leg Jeans (Size 28) | Genuine Calf Hair Bootie (TTS) | Suede Crossbody Bag

I’m a big fan of wide-leg jeans, and this pair from FRAME is such a good find at Nordstrom Rack. The high waist gives coverage, the fit through the hips is smooth, and then the leg opens up in a way that feels polished instead of sloppy. Wide-leg denim can sometimes be tricky, but these drape beautifully and feel current without looking like you’re trying too hard.

The pointed-toe leopard booties are the fun twist that keeps this classic outfit from feeling too basic. Leopard is a neutral in my book, and these work with jeans, skirts, or even dresses. The genuine calf hair gives them an elevated feel, but thanks to Nordstrom Rack, they’re at a much friendlier price point.

Why it works:

  • High waist smooths and elongates the silhouette
  • Wide leg balances proportions and feels modern
  • Dark wash makes them easy to dress up or down
  • FRAME is a premium brand, but at Nordstrom Rack prices, it feels like a steal

A Polished Everyday Look with a Short Trench

Woman wearing a Steve Madden short trench coat layered over a paisley print top with bootcut jeans and fall accessories.

Some days, you just need an outfit that works for anything on your calendar. This one does exactly that. I started with a classic paisley tee, added my go-to bootcut jeans, and then topped it off with a cropped trench coat that makes the whole thing feel instantly more pulled together.

Why This Outfit Works

  • Classic denim + tee foundation keeps things simple
  • A short trench makes it look more polished instantly
  • Neutral tones keep it versatile
  • Accessories add personality without being fussy
  • Perfect for errands, coffee dates, or casual dinners

Steve Madden Short Double-Breasted Trench Coat

This cropped trench is one of those pieces that makes you look like you tried harder than you did. I love the chocolate brown color for fall, and the short length means you can wear it with jeans or skirts without feeling swallowed up. It’s lightweight, so it’s perfect for layering in early fall before the temperatures really drop.

Why it works:

  • Short cut keeps proportions balanced
  • Neutral color goes with everything
  • Instantly elevates a jeans-and-tee outfit

Leopard Booties & Suede Crossbody Bag

Fall outfit featuring a Lucky Brand paisley print t-shirt with Kut From The Kloth bootcut jeans, leopard booties, and a suede crossbody bag.
Floral Paisley T-Shirt (Large) | High Rise Boot Cut Jeans (Size 8) | Genuine Calf Hair Bootie (TTS) | Suede Crossbody Bag

Depending on the weather, you might want to remove the trench. I love the casual style, and the leopard booties add just enough sass. The suede crossbody keeps things practical, but this color is out of stock. Don’t worry, though, it is still available in classic black. Both of these pieces are versatile, and I’ll wear them all season.

Why it works:

  • Leopard booties add personality to neutrals
  • A crossbody keeps hands free while looking polished
  • Both items tie into fall’s textures and prints

Lucky Brand Floral Paisley T-Shirt

I’ve always loved a good paisley print, and this one feels timeless without being too busy. The soft neutrals make it easy to wear on repeat. I can throw it on with jeans, under a cardigan, or even with black pants for a casual dinner. The fabric is lightweight and drapes just right.

Why it works:

  • Neutral tones pair easily with denim or black
  • Paisley print adds visual interest without overwhelming
  • Soft fabric makes it an everyday favorite

Kut From The Kloth Nicole High-Rise Bootcut Jeans

Now let’s talk denim. These bootcut jeans are under $50, which honestly blows my mind. Kut From The Kloth is one of my favorite denim brands for a reason: they fit well, have just the right amount of stretch, and they don’t lose their shape after a day of wear. The bootcut style is universally flattering, especially if you’re over 50 and don’t want jeans that feel too trendy.

Why it works:

  • Bootcut leg balances the hips and elongates the legs
  • High-rise gives coverage and comfort
  • Affordable price without sacrificing quality

Why Nordstrom Rack?

That’s what I love about shopping at Nordstrom Rack: you get access to the brands you already know and love, but at prices that make sense. Each of these outfits proves that you don’t have to spend a fortune to look current, polished, and confident this fall.

If you’re updating your wardrobe for the season, I’d definitely start with the classics: a great pair of jeans, a sweater you can layer, and a few fun accessories to make it personal. And if you can snag them at Nordstrom Rack prices? Even better.

Now I’m curious, do you shop at Nordstrom Rack? And if so, do you go straight for the denim, the handbags, or the shoes? Let me know in the comments; I’d love to hear what you’re hunting for this fall.

  7. 😊 I like these fall looks from Nordstrom Rack. I’m glad you got some rain and cooler weather. We need rain so bad. Everyone’s lawns here where I live in OH are turning brown. It has cooled down a little though.

☺️ Love the paisley tee and brown trench . This is a nice combo!

  9. I must wear tall or long slacks. I’m nearly 6’ tall. Dressy slacks come from Ann Taylor. Jeans and cords from Chico’s and J.Jill. Looking for statement sweaters to jazz up some of the new jeans I bought – a few new bags – and I’m all set. I am not a fan of wide leg, preferring instead a slim ankle length.
