50 IS NOT OLD | LOOKING LIKE A MILLION BUCKS FOR UNDER FIFTY | FASHION OVER 40I am on the go a lot. My next big trip coming up will be the middle of September when I head off to Nashville, Tennessee. You gurls know that I have a ton of clothing, but when you go to events like this, you always want something new and special. So, I am on the lookout for outfits, and especially for a pair of cowboy boots. That is one article of clothing that I do not have in my closet. I think that cowboy boots are adorable when worn with a cute dress, but I like them on others, not on me. Lol!
50 IS NOT OLD | LOOKING LIKE A MILLION BUCKS FOR UNDER FIFTY | FASHION OVER 40So, this is going to be an interactive blog post today. YOU are going to be giving me suggestions today. My must-haves, when it comes to boots, is that they be super cute. Lol! I would love to find a pair that would also be really comfortable, and I would like to be able to wear them again at a later time. I have been looking around, and I found sound cute boots by Lane called Junk Gypsy. I love the styling of the boots but would love to know if anyone has ever bought them. I still have a little time to shop, but I want to get an early start since I might have to return for size problems, etc. So, all of you cowboy/cowgirl boot wearing ladies need to chime in and point me in the right direction.
50 IS NOT OLD | LOOKING LIKE A MILLION BUCKS FOR UNDER FIFTY | FASHION OVER 40Who wants to look like a million bucks for under 50.00? I hope that everyone’s hand went up because I am going to talk about how all of that can be possible. Buying off of the sales rack is the secret sauce. That is a pretty easy task, but you would be surprised how many people don’t take advantage of great sales. How many of you purchased something from the sales that I posted about on Saturday? I bought this dress, and several others, back in early spring when I got an email that said Old Navy dresses were on sale. I looked at a few and found this sleeveless Jersey Swing dress for 9.99. Did I need another dress? Probably not, but I knew that I would be able to wear this dress in the spring, summer, and fall. AND, I was only going to spend ten dollars, so why wouldn’t I buy the dress? Here is the link to the dresses that are on clearance, and here is the link to dresses that are on sale, but sadly they are more expensive than 9.99, but they are still at a bargain.
50 IS NOT OLD | LOOKING LIKE A MILLION BUCKS FOR UNDER FIFTY | FASHION OVER 40Most of the jewelry that I have on is not available for purchase. I just wanted to show you that I am wearing silver. But, you can buy the bracelets, the small two-strand silver bracelet is the Maggie, and the large link bracelet is the Madijeanne.
50 IS NOT OLD | LOOKING LIKE A MILLION BUCKS FOR UNDER FIFTY | FASHION OVER 40I love these sexy sandals. I know that the color looks brown with black piping, but the sandals are actually a deep olive green with dark brown piping. You can’t see the back (I forgot to take a picture) but these are laced up the back with a dark brown cord. One of the shoes had lost its cord, so these shoes were on sale for 5.00! A quick trip to the shoe store, where I bought a pair of new brown cords, fixed the shoes for around 2.00 more dollars. So, I have a total of 7.00 in these shoes.

50 IS NOT OLD | LOOKING LIKE A MILLION BUCKS FOR UNDER FIFTY | FASHION OVER 40I added these beautiful colorful kimono and it changed the entire look of the outfit. The kimono was around 25.00, but I can’t remember exactly how much it was. I bought it this past week, but I can’t find it on the Cato Fashions website. Maybe you will have better luck than me, but be sure to check out your local store to see if they have it in stock. This was not on the sale rack, this is part of the new fall inventory that just hit the store. I bought the kimono with the thoughts of wearing it this fall with jeans and a white t-shirt, or maybe with olive jeans. If you add the total for the entire outfit, I have less than 50.00 invested in items that I will wear over and over and over again. Ladies…shop the sales racks!

  1. I would suggest Lucchese boots. They are a little more expensive but they fit great and are a great quality so you could wear for years.

Hey, Tania! Just an idea…maybe we could send you a photo of our favorite boots and outfit? And you could share with us all? Guess I’m needing some boot inspiration! I thought having two pairs of boots was a little much, but now I’m inspired by the other ladies that have 25 pairs!! So great to hear about other boot lovers! I’m in my 60’s and was thinking maybe I should stop with the boots… but now I’m inspired! Thanks everyone!

    1. I would love getting photos of everyone wearing boots. It would inspire me also!

  3. Hands down, Ariat for comfort. I ride horses regularly and in addition to my riding boots and barn boots, I too have 25+ boots in my closet, including “dress” boots with “bling”. I can wear my Ariats all day comfortably. Twisted X has some beautiful styles as well as Old Gringo. Lucchese are very comfortable and stylish. Tin Haul for a unique, fun style (check out the soles!) Haven’t tried the Lane brand but great styles. I personally like the lug sole as opposed to leather, which I find slippery on some surfaces. I agree with going for the “real thing” versus the fashion boot. Just looks more authentic with a cute dress. It’s a must to try them on. I size down and also up, depending on the brand. (I also wear a short sock with all my boots!) Nashville is a great place to shop for boots but be prepared for so many choices!!
