50 IS NOT OLD | LONGEST DAY OF THE YEARCan you believe that it is already the middle of June? AND, today is the longest day of the year, also known as the summer solstice. That means, after Monday the day’s start getting shorter? I am none too happy about that! I guess we had better start taking advantage of all the summer has to offer, before it is too late.50 IS NOT OLD | LONGEST DAY OF THE YEARToday I am off to help with a Free Youth Golf Clinic which is held at the Willowbrook Country Club in Breaks, VA. That is about 20 minutes from where I live, and is a golf course where my husband manages the course. I used to play, but haven’t picked up a club since my youngest son started 1st grade. At least not until Thursday night, when Joe took me over to hit a few balls.50 IS NOT OLD | LONGEST DAY OF THE YEAR

I was mainly just going along for the ride, planning on watching him hit. He however had other ideas. After he had hit 10 or 15 balls, he said for me to come over and hit a few. I tried to talk him out of it, with all the normal excuses. But, he was determined to see me try. 50 IS NOT OLD | LONGEST DAY OF THE YEAR

I don’t even have any clubs or shoes anymore, I gave them away years ago. He calmly handed me his driver, and said for me to go ahead and try. I really felt ridiculous, I was just sure I would not be able to even make contact. For those of you who have never played golf, it may look easy, but it is NOT. The hardest thing for me is to keep my head down and look at the ball. Sounds easy, huh? What happens is, you will raise up ever so slightly, and then your club will only hit the top of the ball, if at all. One of my greatest fears is looking stupid. I am one of those who would rather not try, if I think I will look stupid. I went ahead and set up, I actually remembered the hand grip and the stance. I mentally checked off everything I could remember to do, and then I swung. I actually made contact!!! It was not a perfect hit ball, but it was playable and I was proud as punch. I hit several more times, and only topped the ball once, so I declare my first attempt back at golf a success. Joe mentioned when we got back to the parking lot that I had hit the ball, and was going to start playing again. One of his friends immediately volunteered that he had a set of clubs he would bring me to get me started. We have the best friends!!!50 IS NOT OLD | LONGEST DAY OF THE YEARSo here I am wearing the cold shoulder trend. It is not one of my favorite trends, but I don’t HATE it. I liked the color of this shirt, so I decided to give it a try. I wasn’t sure how the flutter sleeves and the flowy body of the shirt would work out, but I think it is ok.

I decided to wear a pair of melon colored capris with the top. I guess you call these capris, they are too long to be bermuda shorts. I wanted to wear my new Plunder necklace, and I thought the colors in the necklace went good with the shorts.

Melon Shorts: Similar | Similar50 IS NOT OLD | LONGEST DAY OF THE YEARMy Plunder necklace is Felice. I love all the colors and fun charms that are hanging. It even has a matching bracelet that is just as cute, called the Faye. 50 IS NOT OLD | LONGEST DAY OF THE YEARThe earrings are not the matching pair (I am going to order) to this set, but are a pair that came in the signup kit. If you place an order, be sure to pick me as your stylist. My number is 241007. My blue leather cuff is a bracelet that I was given from Jewels of the Vineyard. Here is the post where I told you all about the bracelet(s), yes I have two of them.
50 IS NOT OLD | LONGEST DAY OF THE YEARI have on the same watercolor wedge shoes that  wore in this post, and I am carrying my Dooney & Bourke purse. I am not sure what color you call the purse, I know it is brown, but they have such fancy names for colors. It could be burnt sienna, or toffee, or coffee, or even tan. Here is a similar one.

I just found you and I love your style. I am a 51 year old South Floridian and I love to look pretty ! Thanks for all the clothing combo ideas. So nice to be a girl.??????

  2. I love that top on you. It’s a beautiful color and flattering style!

  3. I get depressed after the 4h of July because summer is almost over. In my area the kids go back to school the last week of July or the first week of August & they close the city park pool. Boo hoo.

  4. I try to play golf twice a week…with gal pals and/or husband. We’re lucky to live on a beautiful golf course in the Pacific N.W. Soooo…I would love to see you come up with some cute golf outfits that are maybe not so traditional. I love how you put fresh, fun colors together. Keep swinging!

  5. I love this on you. I have only one cut out shoulder and wish I had more. It is a way of showing a little skin on a part of the body that doesn’t have wrinkles or crepey skin.

  6. I just realized today that you are growing out your asymmetrical haircut! It looks terrific! I like it both ways on you. Cold-shouldered tops are not my favorite either but this one looks beautiful on you. Very flowy! It works great with the coral pants. And I may have to go buy that necklace – it’s so pretty! Thanks for the inspiration!

I like the cold shoulder look. For those of us who want more arm coverage it gives us a chance to bare the more attractive part of those same arms. It looked good on you! It’s also fun to take part in a safer, edgier trend. Happy golfing!

  8. I love the top! The blue color is beautiful on you and makes your eyes sparkle. I’ve tried golf and found out I can’t aim worth a darn.

  9. I have the same cross in my back hallway- must be a Virginia thing! Love your blog

  10. Another hit! I actually think the cut out shoulder makes the top. Looks great!

  11. I like that top! I am with you on the cold shoulder trend. I can’t decide if I like it or not but I want to try it. Ha! That is a great color on you!

  12. Great colors on you. I wear often myself.

I chuckled at the golf outing. Someday I’ll try it but definitely, looks easy then it is.

I had the chance to checkout a Chico’s outlet in our area over the weekend and fell in love with their styles, not to mention bright colors. Prices were decent since on sale so picked up a few new items. Fashion should definitely be fun and you constantly remind us of that.

    Have a great day.

  13. I just started playing golf, and think of all the cute golf clothes you can buy

  14. Shirt looks cute on you and nice color combo. Understand what you mean about the shirt -wanted to try the style myself without spending alot on the trend. Found one at Ross for about $10 and is a mixed blue almost a tie dye look. Back to your outfit-jewelry looks great but love those shoes! Have a fabulous day ?

  15. My husband talked me into playing golf several years ago, and I love it! I’m not very good at it, but it’s fun and frustrating all at the same time! And we can play together sometimes, too. Plus, some of the clothes are really cute! You look summery today–enjoy the longest day!

    1. Great job at the golf course and hitting the ball. The blue shirt looks great on you.

    2. I used to love it Jo. In fact, I drove him nuts always wanting to play. ?

  16. I LOVE that shirt on you Tania! The color is fabulous for your skin/hair color!

  18. I’m glad you husband persisted in getting you to take a few swings. I love golf but don’t get to play nearly as often as I would like. As usual, your color combo is great and you look fabulous. Like you, I’m not too hot on the cold shoulder trend but I’m giving it a try. You’ll see a post on it soon on my blog.

  19. This colour really suits you and I think the cut out in the sleeve breaks it up a bit and stops it looking too solid, if you know what I mean. Thank you for the close up of the fab jewellery, your hair looks particularly lovely today ?

    1. That makes perfect sense, Caroline. ?
