LIVING IN A SMALL TOWN
Joe and I are attached at the hip. We do a lot of things together, even colonoscopies. Lol! Yep, he had his done on Friday. I was afraid his prep and procedure would be equivalent to a “man cold.” You gurls know exactly what I mean, we somehow managed to still do our normal routines when we have a cold but our men “can” turn into a 4-year old when they are sick. Hahaha!
I was SHOCKED at how well he did. He didn’t complain, didn’t fuss, and didn’t whine. WHAT! Did the aliens come to town and replace my husband with a Stepford Husband? In all honesty, we both have no complaints. Doctor J N is top notch and our local hospital is great. We have used them for several surgical procedures including when I had my gallbladder removed several years ago. The reason I mention this is because when you live in a small town it is rare to have such great medical personnel and facilities. I do believe in supporting your local establishments when possible.
I know you all have the snow leopard print cardigan on your radar. This is a nice sweater that I got from Cato Fashions. When I wore this last week I was confused when one of the girls at work wanted to know if it was a vest or a sweater. I must have looked confused so she came over and pulled at the sleeve and then said, “Okay, it is all one piece.”That is when I noticed that the sleeves were a different color than the rest of the cardigan. I hadn’t even noticed before because I was so focused on the pattern. It was just coincidence that I wore a black t-shirt beneath the cardigan. Lol! This cardigan is already gone from Cato’s website so I have searched for other alternatives for you.
The Nika earrings are as big and bold as the cardigan. I do sometimes wear small dainty stud earrings but I also believe in wearing big and bold. I don’t want to ONLY do one or the other. I admit that this pair is not for the faint of heart but they are so light that you can’t even feel them while you are wearing them. I love that!!! Plus, these will draw people’s eyes to your pretty face and that is a good thing. I am also wearing the Wanda elastic bracelet today. The little silver dangles move but they don’t make noise, I have had people ask me that before so I wanted to let you know. The Colleen necklace is a great necklace to give as a present. It is personalized and anything monogrammed or initialized is really popular. That way the recipient knows that the gift was for them and not something you re-gifted. Lol!!!
Every time I wear these bootcut Vigoss jeans you gurls seem to love them. I don’t know if it is the bootcut leg, the darker color of the denim, or the bright white stitching that stands out so nice that you like. If you are like me, then it is a combination of all three of those things. I noticed that Maurice’s is having a buy one get one for 50% off sale on Vigoss so be sure to check it out. All of the jeans that I am linking to are from Maurice’s.
Now, let’s talk about these shoes. These are Chanel. Yes, they are really a Chanel pair of shoes. I know that most of you are thinking, “wait a minute, you are all about looking the best you can for the best price possible.” Chanel is EXPENSIVE!!! In my defense, this was the best possible price that I could get, they were FREE! Lol! I got these by default because they were a present to a friend of my sisters. She couldn’t wear them so she gave them to my sister who couldn’t wear them either. Thankfully, neither one of them bothered to check eBay or I would not have gotten these. Lol!

Best memory – going to dawn mass Christmas morning!
My favorite Christmas memory is going to my Grandmother’s and Grandfather’s and sitting in front of their fireplace. Grandad would get out his guitar and sing Christmas songs. I always thought their tree was the most beautiful thing that I had ever seen. I miss those days.
My Dads Birthday was Christmas Eve, so we always had a special part of the evening for him.
Yes my favourite childhood Christmas memory is that our family would invite international students who were away from their families to share Christmas day with us, so from a young age I learn’t about other cultures and sharing. It also helped us not miss our grand parents not being there as they had passed away when us children were really little. Was a beautiful way of learning how to share God’s love in a practical way.
Favorite memories….having Swedish meal of Potato sausage, rice pudding, meatballs for Christmas Eve, then going to church service. Christmas caroling parties in junior high with friends around the neighborhood, attempting to play Christmas songs on the piano. This Christmas will be a little tough, first one since my Dad passed away in July, but we will try to remember the good times with him while we miss him too.
My favorite Christmas memory is a tie between making Christmas cookies with my sisters, or the first time we took my grandbaby to see Santa and he stood on his lap with a big pouty face the whole time!
The year before we moved to Australia from California, Mom & I bought a table top tree for $20. The next Christmas in Australia we could only find trees at the Fruiterer (not a typo) there were no tree lots. Mom asked the man how much this very tall, full tree was. He replied “A dollar fifty.” Being rather young and excited I exclaimed “A dollar fifty!” To which he replied “But it’s a big tree!” Every year after that as we looked for a tree we would retell that story. Mom bought two trees that year.
I am rather new to your blog and absolutely love it. You look so great every day. What great ideas you have given me to try besides just tee shirts and jeans.
December 1963, the Christmas tree was in the playpen to protect it from my 9 month old sister and 6 month old English Bulldog puppy. I remember running to the tree on Christmas morning – there was a stuffed Dalmatian. I looked at my Daddy and he said, ‘it’s for you’. I still have the Dalmatian…
Christmas Eve Candlelight service with all of my family is one of my most favorite memories. My Mom made everything special though so it’s difficult to pinpoint one favorite memory.
