50 IS NOT OLD | LIVING IN A SMALL TOWNJoe and I are attached at the hip. We do a lot of things together, even colonoscopies. Lol! Yep, he had his done on Friday. I was afraid his prep and procedure would be equivalent to a “man cold.” You gurls know exactly what I mean, we somehow managed to still do our normal routines when we have a cold but our men “can” turn into a 4-year old when they are sick. Hahaha!50 IS NOT OLD | LIVING IN A SMALL TOWNI was SHOCKED at how well he did. He didn’t complain, didn’t fuss, and didn’t whine. WHAT! Did the aliens come to town and replace my husband with a Stepford Husband? In all honesty, we both have no complaints. Doctor J N is top notch and our local hospital is great. We have used them for several surgical procedures including when I had my gallbladder removed several years ago. The reason I mention this is because when you live in a small town it is rare to have such great medical personnel and facilities. I do believe in supporting your local establishments when possible. 50 IS NOT OLD | LIVING IN A SMALL TOWNI know you all have the snow leopard print cardigan on your radar. This is a nice sweater that I got from Cato Fashions. When I wore this last week I was confused when one of the girls at work wanted to know if it was a vest or a sweater. I must have looked confused so she came over and pulled at the sleeve and then said, “Okay, it is all one piece.”That is when I noticed that the sleeves were a different color than the rest of the cardigan. I hadn’t even noticed before because I was so focused on the pattern. It was just coincidence that I wore a black t-shirt beneath the cardigan. Lol! This cardigan is already gone from Cato’s website so I have searched for other alternatives for you.

50 IS NOT OLD | LIVING IN A SMALL TOWNThe Nika earrings are as big and bold as the cardigan. I do sometimes wear small dainty stud earrings but I also believe in wearing big and bold. I don’t want to ONLY do one or the other. I admit that this pair is not for the faint of heart but they are so light that you can’t even feel them while you are wearing them. I love that!!! Plus, these will draw people’s eyes to your pretty face and that is a good thing. I am also wearing the Wanda elastic bracelet today. The little silver dangles move but they don’t make noise, I have had people ask me that before so I wanted to let you know. The Colleen necklace is a great necklace to give as a present. It is personalized and anything monogrammed or initialized is really popular. That way the recipient knows that the gift was for them and not something you re-gifted. Lol!!! 50 IS NOT OLD | LIVING IN A SMALL TOWNEvery time I wear these bootcut Vigoss jeans you gurls seem to love them. I don’t know if it is the bootcut leg, the darker color of the denim, or the bright white stitching that stands out so nice that you like. If you are like me, then it is a combination of all three of those things. I noticed that Maurice’s is having a buy one get one for 50% off sale on Vigoss so be sure to check it out. All of the jeans that I am linking to are from Maurice’s.

50 IS NOT OLD | LIVING IN A SMALL TOWNNow, let’s talk about these shoes. These are Chanel. Yes, they are really a Chanel pair of shoes. I know that most of you are thinking, “wait a minute, you are all about looking the best you can for the best price possible.” Chanel is EXPENSIVE!!! In my defense, this was the best possible price that I could get, they were FREE! Lol! I got these by default because they were a present to a friend of my sisters. She couldn’t wear them so she gave them to my sister who couldn’t wear them either. Thankfully, neither one of them bothered to check eBay or I would not have gotten these. Lol!

  1. My favorite Christmas Tradition in our family was getting to open a present on Christmas Eve, I passed that tradition to my own family and now with my Grandchildren…love seeing how excited they get! Wow, I really love that cardigan today, jeans too, but I’m going to be the odd ball and not like the shoes…even if they are Chanel…..lol….sorry! Think the outfit would of looked better with a boot of some sort….but that’s just me!

  2. I had to think about my favorite memory for a bit and it made me realize that it applies to all my years growing up. It’s the time of year where we all had a common focus, worked together to put up the tree, bake yummy treats and listen to Christmas albums. These yearly traditions really warm my heart. Thanks for organizing my trip down memory lane this morning. ?

We were at my grandparents old farm house Christmas Day and there were about 50 people in the dining room. Everyone was going around the table fixing their plates for lunch, when part of the kitchen floor fell in! Food starting sliding off the table, the China cabinet started falling and everyone was grabbing something to keep it from hitting the floor. It was like watching a slow motion movie! Two of my uncles went under the house and propped up the floor and we kept on eating! Lol! Best Christmas ever!!!

  4. Good morning Tania. Really like your outfit. And the shoes are cool. Reading your blog has become part of my morning routine. Thanks for making it interesting, informative & inspiring. My favorite childhood Christmas memory is going to my grandmother’s house on Christmas Eve with all my extended family. My uncle pretending Santa’s reindeer were on the roof & just having fun & great food. I didn’t really appreciate it until I was older & she was gone. But I savor those memories now. I’ve been struggling with holiday spirit too but putting up our tree next week when my kids come home. I think that will do the trick. Happy Holidays?

    1. Oh and I remember going through the Sears catalog like Paula. My brother & I had such fun together circling all the toys.

Christmas memories are the best! One of my favorites is when we would get our entire family and a few friends together to make “rock” candy. It was such a mess but so fun and the house smelled wonderful from the oils that go into the candy..

  6. I really enjoy your blog! One of my favorite childhood memories is going through the Sears Wish Book Catalog and circling everything I wanted for Christmas! Oh the pre-internet days!

  7. Best childhood Christmas memory is making cookies with my mom. On Christmas Eve I would put out a plate for Santa along with a glass of milk. Christmas morning I would wake up and run out to check the plate. Of course the cookies and milk were gone only crumbs left on the plate and gifts under the tree. It was magical! I think I was probably 12 still believing in Santa when my dad asked I could leave a shot of bourbon instead of milk ?

  8. I read your blog every day! One of my favorite memories from childhood was getting the Barbie airplane. I was so excited!

My parents would sprinkle a few ashes from the fireplace on the flooring in front to show Santa has come down the chimney and made a bit of a mess:) A bite would be out of a cookie we left and a little sip of milk would be gone from his glass. My parents have passed and were older when they had me. I miss them so much for giving me a loving, safe childhood. Cherish your parents if they are still with you.

My Dad was orphaned in Saxman WV (now Richwood) and he was sent to St Joseph’s Protectory in Lackawanna NY. St Joseph’s was the only place that would take him and his three brothers. There they were given a Catholic education and were cared for by Father Nelson Baker and his staff of Nuns. He learned to sing quite well and was in the church chorus (Our Lady of Victory). My Dad loved the song Silent night. On Christmas Eve we would put up the Christmas Tree (the orphan became a great man and wonderful father of 5 kids) and sing Christmas Carols before bedtime. The last song of the night was Silent Night to remind us that Christmas was really about our Saviors birth. The next day at church he would once again belt out his favorite song with great abandon! My parents are gone now but whenever I hear Silent Night I can also hear my Dad singing with such joy in his heart….you see God saved him and he was forever grateful.i tear up in church on Christmas Eve and my family knows why….wonderful memories of my Dad. ❤️✝️
