50 IS NOT OLD | LIVING IN A SMALL TOWNJoe and I are attached at the hip. We do a lot of things together, even colonoscopies. Lol! Yep, he had his done on Friday. I was afraid his prep and procedure would be equivalent to a “man cold.” You gurls know exactly what I mean, we somehow managed to still do our normal routines when we have a cold but our men “can” turn into a 4-year old when they are sick. Hahaha!50 IS NOT OLD | LIVING IN A SMALL TOWNI was SHOCKED at how well he did. He didn’t complain, didn’t fuss, and didn’t whine. WHAT! Did the aliens come to town and replace my husband with a Stepford Husband? In all honesty, we both have no complaints. Doctor J N is top notch and our local hospital is great. We have used them for several surgical procedures including when I had my gallbladder removed several years ago. The reason I mention this is because when you live in a small town it is rare to have such great medical personnel and facilities. I do believe in supporting your local establishments when possible. 50 IS NOT OLD | LIVING IN A SMALL TOWNI know you all have the snow leopard print cardigan on your radar. This is a nice sweater that I got from Cato Fashions. When I wore this last week I was confused when one of the girls at work wanted to know if it was a vest or a sweater. I must have looked confused so she came over and pulled at the sleeve and then said, “Okay, it is all one piece.”That is when I noticed that the sleeves were a different color than the rest of the cardigan. I hadn’t even noticed before because I was so focused on the pattern. It was just coincidence that I wore a black t-shirt beneath the cardigan. Lol! This cardigan is already gone from Cato’s website so I have searched for other alternatives for you.

50 IS NOT OLD | LIVING IN A SMALL TOWNThe Nika earrings are as big and bold as the cardigan. I do sometimes wear small dainty stud earrings but I also believe in wearing big and bold. I don’t want to ONLY do one or the other. I admit that this pair is not for the faint of heart but they are so light that you can’t even feel them while you are wearing them. I love that!!! Plus, these will draw people’s eyes to your pretty face and that is a good thing. I am also wearing the Wanda elastic bracelet today. The little silver dangles move but they don’t make noise, I have had people ask me that before so I wanted to let you know. The Colleen necklace is a great necklace to give as a present. It is personalized and anything monogrammed or initialized is really popular. That way the recipient knows that the gift was for them and not something you re-gifted. Lol!!! 50 IS NOT OLD | LIVING IN A SMALL TOWNEvery time I wear these bootcut Vigoss jeans you gurls seem to love them. I don’t know if it is the bootcut leg, the darker color of the denim, or the bright white stitching that stands out so nice that you like. If you are like me, then it is a combination of all three of those things. I noticed that Maurice’s is having a buy one get one for 50% off sale on Vigoss so be sure to check it out. All of the jeans that I am linking to are from Maurice’s.

50 IS NOT OLD | LIVING IN A SMALL TOWNNow, let’s talk about these shoes. These are Chanel. Yes, they are really a Chanel pair of shoes. I know that most of you are thinking, “wait a minute, you are all about looking the best you can for the best price possible.” Chanel is EXPENSIVE!!! In my defense, this was the best possible price that I could get, they were FREE! Lol! I got these by default because they were a present to a friend of my sisters. She couldn’t wear them so she gave them to my sister who couldn’t wear them either. Thankfully, neither one of them bothered to check eBay or I would not have gotten these. Lol!

The best Christmas was when I was 10. There were envelopes for each of us kids, 2 brothers and me. Inside each was a poem. The part I remember is a bambino and a palomino. Yes I got a horse for Christmas! A life long love affair was born. Met my husband thru showing horses. Life would have been very different without that Christmas gift.

  2. I love your blog and always read it. Best memory is getting up on Christmas Day. My mom was a nurse and worked every other Christmas. She had to be at work by seven, so my parents would wake us up at 5:00 a.m. I can still feel the excitment of the 4 of us running down the hall to rip open our presents. Thanks for making me think of that!

  3. Hi Tania! Thank you for sharing with us every day. My favorite memory of Christmas is having my parents wake us up early to open presents from Santa Claus. The tree was sparkling with its lights, ornaments and tinsel with presents piled underneath. Best of all, the manger would have Baby Jesus in place. I am grateful to have such wonderful memories of my brothers and parents on Christmas morning.

  4. My favorite Christmas memory as a child is going to my Grandpa and Grandma’s house and having to sleep under the dining room table with my 2 closest cousins- Brenda and Sondra- so we wouldn ‘t get stepped on during the night. My grandparents had 9 kids, each with at least 2 kids of their own, so the house was full to the top when everyone went back for a visit.

Good morning, Tania. I am relatively new to your blog and I really do love it. I tried to follow a few other fashion blogs but got bored with them after just a few weeks. Yours is one I can really relate to. My favorite childhood memory is of my sister Debby and I lying underneath the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve looking up at all the lights shining through the branches. She would tell me stories about Santa and his reindeer and pretend she could hear his sleigh bells so I would go to sleep because I didn’t want Santa think I was trying to peek. As we got older our talks turned to our hopes and dreams for the future. Although we live about 1000 miles apart and haven’t spent Christmas together in almost 40 years, each Christmas Eve we talk on the phone and I just close my eyes and pretend I’m under the tree looking up at the lights. I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!

  6. Hurrying home from my grandparents home Christmas Eve to get ready for Santa all the while watching the sky for Rudolph as my dad drove and kept saying we have to hurry I think I see him. 47 plus years ago but will never forget we fell for it every year for quite a while LOL.

  7. We would decorate our live Christmas tree on Christmas Eve after a special dinner. What great memories I have of my childhood at Christmas time!

I too look forward to reading the blog every morning when I get up, feels like we are friends even though we have never met! My husband and I had our colonoscopies the same day and got to recover in the same room! My favorite Christmas memory is Christmas breakfast at my grandparents, we had oyster stew and sweetbread after opening gifts.

  9. Merry Christmas, my hubby ad I are also “attached at the hip”, that’s just the way we like it 😉 You have to make Joe very proud to stand along side of him, you always look impeccable. BTW…those lashes…WOW so long, do you use any growth serum or just God’s handy work?

Thank you for your knowledge of fashion and inspirations. My favorite childhood memory of Christmas was helping my Dad put together bikes for my way younger brothers. I thought this was so great that he allowed me to be an older sister..
