LIVE LIKE YOU WERE DYING

Untitled designI am sure most of you have heard the song by Tim McGraw, where he sings live like you were dying. With the death of my uncle this week, I have been thinking along this line. Mostly I have been thinking about how we have no guarantee of tomorrow. But, I like to keep my Sunday posts on the inspirational side, so I don’t want to dwell on what we can’t have. I want to dwell on what we CAN have.

I wrote a post a little while back where I talked about a bucket list. This was really more a tongue-in-cheek kind of post, and not one that I put a huge amount of thought into. Today, I want to talk about our spiritual bucket list.

I think you can be a good person, even if you do not attend church. I highly recommend attending church, it is uplifting and I always leave with a new found love of the Lord. But, even if you do not attend, you can still have a spiritual bucket list.

  • Love the Lord with all your heart
  • Love thy neighbor as your self
  • Extend kindness, with the expectation of nothing in return
  • Forgive those who don’t deserve it
  • Pray, pray, pray, and then pray some more
  • Visit the elderly and widows
  • Take the time to really talk to a child
  • Be humble

Love hard, laugh often, and take chances. Today is what we have. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. Hug someone close to you, and tell them that you love them.

Have a blessed weekend.

  2. Nice post. I especially like the “really speak to a child”, it us those moments, those words, that a child holds through life.
Sorry to hear of your loss.

  3. Very lovely post. I love this song. I think he wrote it when his father (baseball player Tug McGraw) was dying from cancer.

I hate when we miss church. My week always seems a little harder.

    XOXO

Tania – I LOVE your Spiritual Bucket List. Would you mind if I print it and frame it to hang up in my home?

As everyone e else has mentioned the reason we go to church is to worship our wonderful Saviour. Many of us work around people that don’t believe or serve God and we need to refresh our spirits and faith by fellowshipping with other believers.

So sorry to hear of your Uncles passing. But you can rejoice in the knowledge he is with the Lord and that you will see him again some day.

    Bless yiou.

    1. This is so sweet Gina. I need to print it myself and carry it with me in my purse.

  5. Thank you Tania for your inspirational message!!! So sorry to hear of your uncle’s passing. Peace be with you.

  6. Death is only sad for those of us left behind…but dying is the ONLY way to get to be with our Savior and Lord.
Dying is truly a “celebration of a life well lived” if we are Christians. John 3:16

  7. While the things on your list are all good, if they are done to feel good about yourself or alleviate guilt it counts for nothing. We should be led by the Holy Spirit and our acts of service should be to bring Jesus pleasure and honor and glory. Church attendance is not about me it’s about worshipping the Lord and giving Him praise.
