50 IS NOT OLD | LAYERING FOR WARMTHIt is casual Friday today! Some of you have mentioned before that Fridays were the day to go casually dressed. I work at a lumber company so any day could be casual for me. However, I know that places like the bank might only let you wear jeans on a Friday. I try to mix up my outfits and wear something for a wide variety of women. I do get emails occasionally telling me that they prefer casual clothing, office-appropriate clothing, dressier outfits, wear more vintage clothing, and only items that are currently in the stores. Lol! As you can guess, it is impossible to make “everyone” happy.50 IS NOT OLD | LAYERING FOR WARMTHBut, just like I am an includer, I am also a people-pleaser. When I get an email requesting something then I try to jump through hoops to make it happen. Some of you have said that you would like to see Joe more on the blog but that one I can’t make happen. Lol! He just won’t take pictures on a regular basis and when he does they can’t always be used. Lol! I do want to continue to grow my blog so I am open to suggestions. I can’t believe I just said that because I am liable to get my feelings hurt. So, what would you like to see more of, what would you like to see me change, what type clothing would you like to see me style more, what interests you most about the blog, what stores do you like the best, and how long have you been reading? You know that I am going to have a give away for those who contribute. Lol! I will giveaway a Kate Spade bangle on Monday so be sure to contribute today and tomorrow and then check back on Monday to see who the winner is. BTW, saying “do more giveaways” is not a valid response. Hahaha!50 IS NOT OLD | LAYERING FOR WARMTHToday I am just trying to stay warm. When you wake up to 12-degree temperatures you might want to layer your clothing. I know a lot of you live in way colder places than me so you can feel free to weigh in on that. I added this navy and fuschia pink lightweight puffer vest from Crown & Ivy. I don’t normally wear the big puffer vests but will instead choose the lightweight versions because I don’t want the added bulk around my waistline. However, if I lived in a colder climate then I wouldn’t care if my waist was thicker, I would dress like a Polar Bear if it kept me warm. This vest is several years old but there are a lot of styles to choose from.

50 IS NOT OLD | LAYERING FOR WARMTHI love the Shaila earrings. These pearl studs are really large and show really well even with longer hair. I told you yesterday that you could wear pearls with jeans so I thought that I would style them that way. I have the Lottie necklace on again today and I love the versatility. I have even added a pendant to this necklace for a different look. The bracelet is the Valerie and it has tiny pearls attached to an elastic bracelet. It has some movement and it is really pretty. I ordered 500.00 in Plunder jewelry the other day! I have decided to up the ante. From the 15th of the month until the last day of January, when you order at least 75.00 (excluding taxes and shipping) you will get ONE additional piece of jewelry from me. But, if you order at least 125.00 (excluding taxes and shipping) then you will get TWO items from me! January is the month to make your purchases!!! Go to plunderdesign.com/taniastephens to place an order and be sure to pick a party with my name on it.  50 IS NOT OLD | LAYERING FOR WARMTH I haven’t carried the Vera Bradley handbag for a while but I love this bag. The pop of color just brightens my day. This bag is the Ella and it is leather. I didn’t even know that Vera had leather bags. You don’t have to buy a Vera or even a bright pink purse but I do think that a colorful purse is fun to own.  50 IS NOT OLD | LAYERING FOR WARMTH My suede ankle boots by Isaac Mizrahi have become my go-to shoes this fall. It is so funny how I had these shoes last years and probably only wore them once or twice. I believe I wear them once or twice a week now. Since the shoes stayed the same I can only surmise that my taste has changed. That is the reason that you should be open to trying new things. Just because you have always done something one way doesn’t mean that you always have to do it that way.
50 IS NOT OLD | LAYERING FOR WARMTHI love my Diana jeans by Kut From The Kloth. I had never tried this brand until I got these in one of my Trunk Club shipments. Remember that I don’t have a lot of shopping opportunities where I live so I am not familiar with brands that you might see all the time. This pair fits me like a glove and they are my normal size of a 10. The link I added for the jeans takes you to where they are on sale right now for 50% off. GO NOW!!!50 IS NOT OLD | LAYERING FOR WARMTHI love sharing my love of Rodan + Fields with you. I love the emails that I get from ladies telling me how they have gotten comments and compliments on their face and how it has increased their confidence levels. Hey, my first comment! I bought the tannish jeans from Old Navy that were on your blog last week, I think. Also, bought a blouse from Talbots similar to your plaid. You give me fresh insight into what is already in my closet. I spent 5 hours of our recent snow day going through my closet and tried EVERYTHING on since I’ve lost 25 pounds last year. Now, I have room for more!

  2. I can’t even remember how long I have been following you. I like the casual or semi-casual outfits since I am a stay at home wife and when we go out it’s usually casual. I like when you tell us where you get the pieces of your outfit but am always so disappointed when it’s a boutique item and then we can’t order or pick it up as so many are so cute! Boutiques are getting really popular in my area and are even starting to mail pieces but I usually have to try on before I buy. I have to drive to shop and then it’s usually Cato, Dressbarn, Gordman, Target or Penny’s. I like wearing vest like you have on today. I wish I could get into the more colorful booties for myself as they always look so nice with your outfits and my hubby does tell me that I need to wear more colorful things sometimes…and he’s right! I’m not a a shopper so it helps me get ideas when I see what you put together. I always say that I wish malls had personal shoppers that would just take you and help you pick out an outfit…LOL

  3. I enjoy watching you style Tania. I’d like to see some more ways you layer things. Especially because we are fixing to transition into spring. I pretty much have the fall thing down. I wear lots of leggings and enjoy layering especially my Logo. I love hearing your stories about your family. You keep it real and it makes it fun to read along with styling. Keep on keeping on.

  4. I do look over this look, I have said it before , you have helped me to up my game, people notice. I love those boots , but have found ANY heel throws my hip out now !24 years of working on concrete did me in! So it’s time to go shopping.

I think you cover such a variety of styles and such, you’re doing great! I have been encouraged by my kids to “branch out, mom” and you’re helping with that. So much clothing looks great on-line or on a mannequin but not on a real person. Love that reality with your blog. Keep up the great work and thanks!!

I have been reading your blog for about a year. I love your style! I followed another blogger for a short while and then I found you. I look forward to reading your blog every morning with my coffee. It’s a great way to start my day. I wouldn’t change anything about your blog. I love your “classy and sassy” style, your funny stories and your Sunday blogs. I do have a question for you. I don’t have slender legs. Can you (or maybe some of your followers) suggest a brand of jeans? I can’t wear skinny jeans.

    Keep being YOU!

I love your blog. I would like to see more of the links that show us where to find the clothes, shoes and bags. Thanks.

  8. I love to read your blog and hear what you are up to. The only suggestion i would have is to push yourself out of your comfort zone. I did that myself several months ago and now I wear ankle pants. And that’s something I wouldn’t even look at before. I’m tall and one of my no no’s was pants that were too short. I finally gave in and tried on a pair and now I have 4 or 5 pair, I don’t even know how many. Even if you fail, you’ve tried and showing that to everyone will help too. It won’t do permanent damage to try, but it will educate and I think that’s what you are trying to do. Have a fabulous day!

  9. I am relatively a “newbie’ to your blog as I have been enjoying your blog for only a few months. I happened upon it when I was looking for fashion help on Pinterest. We have similar taste and I have a lot of similar pieces in my closet. You give me direction that I wouldn’t normally have on my own. I battle trying not to dress like my 25 yr old daughter or my 83 yr old Mom. You help me walk the fine line between. I recently quit working to stay home with 4 grandchildren (actually this is MORE work lol) so I forget to accessorize occasionally and you are my morning nudge to not become that frumpy housewife I prosmised myself i would never be.

I’ve been following your blog for a little over a year now, I think. It’s the first thing I go to on Facebook each day. I enjoy seeing what you put together. I’m a teacher; we can’t wear jeans often, and I was tired of everything I was putting together and needed new ideas. I don’t mind some photos with jeans, but I’d like more business casual pictures. I enjoy them all though, so don’t change anything for me!
