50 IS NOT OLD | LAST MINUTE CHOICESWho is running around frantically still in search of Christmas gifts? Let me see a show of hands. Can you see my hand straight up in the air??? I am ALMOST finished but I still have a couple small gifts to get but I don’t want to get out in all the mess. The thing I hate the very worst of all is the parking.I think that is why online shopping has become so popular. It is so easy to sit back, in your pajamas, with a cup of hot chocolate and a computer at your fingertips. Of course, if you have waited until today to do your last minute shopping then I am afraid you are going to have to brave the crowded parking lots and the long lines at the checkout counter. The good news is that you can go online and do gift certificates if you want and have them mailed to your email account. Then you can print them and wrap them as a present.

Are you stumped for ideas? Have you exhausted your brain with all the other thousands of details and lost any ability you had to give the perfect gift. Here are a couple of inexpensive and creative ideas that you can throw together in no time flat.

For someone who likes to cook:

  • An Oven Mitt stuffed full of utensils and maybe a favorite recipe that has been handed down to you.
  • Two mugs and three bottles filled with a hot cocoa mix, marshmallow, and miniature candy canes.

For a stay at home mom:

  • A pair of houseshoes or cozy socks with some bath salts or lotions tucked inside.
  • A pair of tickets to the movies and a bucket of popcorn

For the partying friend:

  • A small basket with several of the miniature bottles of alcohol from the liquor store and a couple of nice tumbler glasses.
  • A bottle of wine and 2 wine glasses.

For the golfer friend:

  • A sleeve or two of colored golf balls and a divot tool.
  • A golf umbrella or a golf glove.

When you really get to thinking about the person you are buying a gift for you see that it really isn’t that hard to pick the perfect gift. It truly is not the gift that matters anyway, it is the fact that you put some effort into the choice.

So, I am off to fight with the rest of us procrastinators. I’ll let you know if I survive!!!

  1. I wouldn’t’ mind being out in the masses right now. At least there would be power. Nothing like trying to do some holiday baking with no power. Hubs is a muscle enthusiast so I get him a bucket with a new sponge and some really good car wash and protectant spray.. Merry Christmas,

    1. I meant muscle car enthusiast. He has 2.

      1. It is funny how much “one” word can mean. It makes total sense now. Lol!!!

    2. Are you without power??? Why? I like the car washing bucket idea.

      1. Winter storm brought us snow followed by freezing rain. We are supposed to get another storm on Christmas Day. That’s New Hampshire for you.

  4. Did you hurt your finger? Great ideas! Thank you.

    1. Yep, I am a klutz. When I was peeling some sweet potatoes I cut it with the peeler.

  5. I ❤️You! You’re SO beautiful! What happened to your pinkie?

Don’t worry! The love you have in your heart for everyone who is near and dear to you is enough of a gift!

Merry Christmas, Miss Tania, Precious Family and Loving Friends! ?????

    1. Thanks, so much, Annie. I have your Santa Claus you sent me as part of my Christmas decorations! When I was peeling sweet potatoes for the lunch at work, I cut my finger using the peeler.

Yep, me too! I have to work part of the day, then stopping by store after I am done! I have decided to give my sons’ and their families something different this year. One lives near me and one lives in ND. I am giving them Christmas all year long. Every other month I am giving or sending them a gift. For Valentines it might be a gift certificate for a favorite restaurant, for April it might be a family movie and some popcorn, June. a gift card to a water park, etc. Just want to give them something different. Both of them have most everything they need, so just buying then something because it is expected is not what I want to do. I sent cookies, icing and all the decorating sprinkles and sugar to my son in ND for them to have a family night icing and decorating cookies with the kids. They loved it! I hosted a cookies decorating night at my house for my son and his family who lives near me. Turned out great, but I now have lots of cookies that I don’t need to be eating! Trying to make this time of year about family and memories. They forget the gifts, but they remember the times you spent together. Have a blessed Christmas holiday season Tania!

    1. Teresa, I LOVE this idea!!! You will have to share with all of us every time you send a gift so that we can get ideas too.

  9. Have been up since 5 am and in the stores since 7. This is my one and only day of shopping. Am reading your post in my car in the parking lot of Kohl’s. I so relate to your picture. I’m hanging my head and longing to put my feet up….a glass of wine will be in order later today!!! Have a blessed holiday!!! Kathy

    1. I hear you sister! Stay strong!

    2. Oh my goodness, Kathy! That is pretty crazy that you do only one day of shopping. I “needed” to go and do my last minute shopping but instead, I have been in bed ALL day long. Miserable with a sinus headache. Dizzy and out of sorts. I am not sure how much I will get to get done tomorrow since it is Sunday AND Christmas Eve.
