5 Jacket and Outerwear Trends That Will Be Everywhere This Fall
Gurls, the weather might still be warm, but fall fashion is already hitting the stores, and the jackets this year are too good to ignore. I am talking about the kind of jackets that make you look like you planned your outfit, even if you just threw it on over leggings.
I have narrowed it down to five styles that you will be seeing everywhere this season. Some of these you may already own, but if not, this might be the year to add one to your wardrobe.
Fall 2025 Jacket Trends to Watch For
1. Suede Jackets

Suede jackets are back in a big way for Fall 2025, and they bring instant texture and richness to any outfit.
You do not have to commit to real suede, though. Faux suede has gotten so good that sometimes I have to check the tag twice. It is softer, often lighter, and you do not have to worry quite as much about babying it like you would with the real deal. Faux suede is usually more budget-friendly and what’s available at many of my favorite stores, too.
I am seeing everything from cropped bombers to longer blazer-style suede jackets. Suede comes in so many colors, but I find that I get the most wear out of one in a shade of brown, like camel or chocolate brown.

2. Minimalist Leather Jackets

This year, leather is all about quiet luxury. Clean lines, soft leather, and almost no hardware give you a style that is understated but still makes a statement.
Some of the faux leather jackets I have seen lately are so buttery soft you would swear they were the real thing. They are lighter to wear, easier to clean, and they often come in more colors. If you are not ready to invest in real leather, a good faux leather jacket is the perfect way to get the look without the cost.

3. Chore and Barn Jackets
If you are not familiar with chore or barn jackets, let me paint the picture. They were originally designed for farmers and laborers, which is why they are so practical. Think sturdy cotton or canvas fabric, a straight cut for easy movement, and pockets.
The barn jacket usually has a corduroy or contrasting collar, while the chore jacket keeps it simple with a matching fabric collar. These jackets are made for layering, so they are roomy enough to wear over a sweater without feeling bulky. The heavier cotton or canvas makes them durable, but they are not stiff or uncomfortable.
Olive green and tan are the traditional colors, but now you will find them in navy, plaid, and even jewel tones for a little more personality. They have a casual, slightly rustic vibe, but you can style them so many ways.

4. Bouclé and Tweed Jackets

Bouclé has that nubby, textured look that always feels refined, and this fall it is sharing the spotlight with tweed. Both fabrics have a timeless, polished vibe that instantly makes your outfit look more elevated. You have probably seen them in classic designer pieces for decades, but now you can find bouclé and tweed jackets at every price point.

5. Knitted Jackets

Knitted jackets are like a cozy cardigan’s more sophisticated cousin. They give you the warmth and comfort of a sweater but have the structure of a jacket. They are ideal for those in-between days when you need a layer but do not want the weight of a heavy coat.

3 Easy Styling Tips for Fall Jackets

- Start wearing these jackets now over lightweight tops, then layer sweaters underneath as the season changes
- Mix textures for interest. Pair leather with silk, suede with denim, bouclé with cotton, and blazers with knitwear
- Make sure your jackets fit comfortably over your heavier layers so you get the most wear all season
These are the five jacket styles I think you will see in stores and on stylish women everywhere this fall. They are practical enough for everyday wear but have the style power to make you feel confident and current. If you find one you love, grab it early because the best jackets never last long once the leaves start to turn.
