Everything seems to be either cropped or oversized this year. Both styles can be worn in the right circumstances. I’ve had several ladies ask me if wearing oversized sweaters, blazers, etc., makes you look bigger than you are. So, today I’m showing you how women over 50 can wear oversized sweaters.

The best way to wear oversized sweaters is to keep the bottom half a tighter fit. Skinny jeans are a great option, but I’m wearing straight-fit bootcut jeans with a couple of these sweaters.

This gorgeous purple high/low sweater has a seamed front and drop shoulders. I’m partial to a v-neckline since it elongates your neck. I’m wearing a medium, and the sweater is loose and oversized like it is supposed to fit.

I love this pink turtleneck; it is super soft and cozy. The high/low sweater hugs your body and would work with leggings too.

This bright pink turtleneck sweater is slightly roomier than the purple sweater. I probably could have worn a small, but I like the roomy, oversized look.

This is the kind of sweater that would be perfect for lounging around the house or dressing up to go to lunch, movies, etc.

I bought the oatmeal version of this sweater during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and I liked it so much that I bought this chocolate color too. Chocolate is a trending color this year, and it matches my tassel loafers perfectly.

This sweater has two things going for it that I love. A cable knit sweater is a design that I am drawn to, and I also love the half zip style.

The great thing about oversized sweaters is that they are long and cover your rear.

How Women Over 50 Can Wear Oversized Sweaters With Leggings

I’m styling the other sweaters with a pair of black Lululemon Align Leggings. Leggings aren’t only for exercise; they can be worn pretty much anywhere.

This ivory turtleneck sweater is similar to the pink sweater above. It is very soft and cozy and fits about the same way. This sweater’s material is a little thinner than the pink one, but it is still nice and warm but would be easier to layer under an oversized blazer.

I added this Coach leather bucket handbag with the horse and carriage embossed logo. It is a great medium size that looks and feels luxurious.

I admit that this outfit is one of my favorites. I love the color combination, and I love wearing heels with leggings for a dressier look.

You might notice that this is another cable knit sweater. I told you I was partial to this design! This sweater runs smaller than the other sweaters, and I sized up to a large for that reason. I think that I could have worn an XL to get a more oversized look. This sweater is 100% merino wool and would need to be hand-washed.

I added a large oversized woven tote with this outfit. This is the kind of outfit I would wear on a date night with my hubby.

I love the chocolates brown zip sweater! I would definitely purchase it if my hair was still blond. I have been letting the color grow out 🤦🏼‍♀️! It is at my ears now. Definitely making progress. I am salt and pepper. My eyes are brown. I am pondering about wearing brown now!🤷🏼‍♀️

Tania, I suffer from sweater & shoe envy! I live in south Florida & have foot problems from standing 40+ years teaching! I love both sweaters & shoes. I have two drawers plus closet storage bin full of sweaters & lots of shoes. I haven’t worn a sweater or jeans since a May 2022 Maine visit & a July 2022 Washington state- Pugent Sound visit. I do love seeing the fall/winter posts:)

    1. Oh, I would have to make trips north to wear all those sweaters!
