50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO USE A SCARF AS A BELT AND A WRAP | FASHION OVER 40I had one of “those” kind of days. I do a lot of self-development books, I listen to them on Audible. I am constantly trying to improve myself and others. I love so many of them and I will try to compose a list of some of my favorites for you in the coming days. But, I am always on the run. I sometimes feel like the hamster that you see going round and round on the wheel but never really going anywhere.
50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO USE A SCARF AS A BELT AND A WRAP | FASHION OVER 40 It seems like everywhere I turn that I am getting the message to “slow my roll.” Lol! It started with a Podcast that I have been listening to which talks about STRIVING versus STRIDING. I am always in the striving mode, pushing and pushing and pushing. I plot and calculate and try to make things happen and fall into place instead of just sitting back and enjoying the journey. I should be striding, (taking a long and deliberate step) instead of always being in a run. Truthfully, that goes against every fiber of my being. I am impatient and I am also a control freak. Then, I listened to a video today and guess what it was talking about? Yep! It was on the very same subject. I am a big believer in listening to what I am being led to do. Whew! Going slow is not something that is going to be easy for me. I am probably the only person that you know that might have a breakdown from trying to slow down and smell the roses. How many of you are natured like me? I just want some reassurance that I am not the only person out there like this.50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO USE A SCARF AS A BELT AND A WRAP | FASHION OVER 40 I am loving this high neck maxi dress by Lush. However, I am debating on whether to keep it or send it back and get the cobalt blue version. I LOVE blue and I think that blue is a flattering color for me. But, I already own a ton of blue items so I thought I would branch out. This is a super cute dress and a great price point. The only drawback that I can find is that it says dry clean only. It is 95% Rayon and 5% Spandex so I am confused why it would have to be dry cleaned. This was in my latest Trunk Club shipment and it had a lot of really cute items this time. I love not having to go shopping and I love being able to try the items in the comfort of my own home. I told my stylist that I was going to be attending a bachelorette party in Florida next week. She scheduled my shipment early and tailored my order for that event. If that sound like something you would be interested in then go here to sign up.

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO USE A SCARF AS A BELT AND A WRAP | FASHION OVER 40I added a few of my newer Plunder Design jewelry pieces today. The Kaitlyn necklace is one that I just got in this week. That was perfect timing because I think it looks great with this dress. It is a shorter necklace at only 17 to 20 inches. I chose to also add the Tegan earrings which came in on the same shipment. They are a seafoam green color which went with the scarf that I added. They are smaller also with only a 1.5″ drop. The last thing that I added was the Bailey bracelet which is melon and turquoise. I love how Plunder Jewelry mixes and matches really well. I have had this bracelet for a long time but it matches the Kaitlyn necklace almost perfectly. I saw a LOT of you have already taken advantage of the Plunder Mania savings that are being offered. Things are selling out quickly so be sure to check that out! Just remember to pick a party with my name in it first. 50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO USE A SCARF AS A BELT AND A WRAP | FASHION OVER 40I bought this beautifully embroidered clutch when I was in Cancun, Mexico back in April. Let me change that, JOE bought this for me which was a surprise. We each buy what we want but hardly ever buy for each other. It is just simpler to buy what we want than to hope that the other one buys something for us. He saw that I liked it but I didn’t have my wallet with me so I left and he bought it for me. It never even occurred to me to ask him if he had money with him. Lol! I like that it has so many beautiful colors and that it will go with almost anything.

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO USE A SCARF AS A BELT AND A WRAP | FASHION OVER 40I added a scarf as a belt but I also used it as a wrap. A scarf is very versatile and truly adds so much to an outfit. You could even start out by wearing it as a belt and as the night progresses you could then use it as a wrap. The nights are starting to get chilly and this light scarf would be just perfect to knock off that chill.

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO USE A SCARF AS A BELT AND A WRAP | FASHION OVER 40Let me know what you think about the dress. Keep or exchange for the blue one? Also, let me know if any of you out there are hamsters like me. Lol!!!

  1. You look beautiful in blue, but u look stunning in this color also. Love the dress on you !

  2. Just gorgeous! You look great.

  3. Be still and know…

  4. Janet Batchelor says:

I LOVE, Love, love this color on you!! Even before I read your blog, I thought that color is sooooo good on you! Hope you keep the dress. The scarf is lovely too.

  5. I kept seeing sayings/etc regarding taking chances and stepping out of your comfort zone and trying new things. That is what finally pushed me to start my blog! Love the dress and scarf!

  6. Robin Osborne says:

Keep the dress, it is a change from regular blue. I think that blue green color flatters everyone. I regard to washing instead of dry cleaning, I tried washing a dress with much the same materials and unfortunately even though I washed in cold water and hung it to dry, it shrank. It was weird because the lining of the dress didn’t shrink. Live and learn I guess!

  7. Gloria Randle says:

I think you and the dress make a fabulous duo. I think the color looks great on you. Anxious to see what you decide.

  8. I think since you have a lot of blue and look great in it, keep the aqua, because you also look great in that color, and haven’t seen you in that color as much! It is like the aqua colored seas, a glorious color!

  9. SUE KOREN says:

Where did you get the scarf? It’s beautiful!

  10. Dana Buckingham says:

Love the dress and that color! And I LOVE that clutch!!! I am not a hamster though it seems like I spin my wheels some trying to get things done. But I can relax too.

  11. Definitely keep the dress! Perfect color. 🙂 Like you, I tend to strive instead of stride. A good lesson to learn.

  12. Melesa Garrison says:

WOW, you look so pretty in this. I love the entire ensemble. The clutch is so vibrant and goes perfectly with everything. I’ve whined about my broken ankle, but anywho, the part that makes me crazier than anything is I’m a go-getter that likes to do my own thing, without anybody’s help. God has a way of humbling us, huh? And slowing us down. God is in control and that’s all there is to it, and I’m glad 😀

  13. Charlcy L. Green says:

Oh my, I am jealous of you today, for you will be the Belle of the Ball at your bachelorette party in that outfit! It is stunning on you and that scarf adds so much! The dress is super flattering and that jewelry is perfect w it! You are gorgeous, even if a hamster on a wheel! I used to be like you, but retirement has taught me to smell the roses!

  14. KEEP THE DRESS! It is so beautiful on you! Love the style and color. And yes please, a list of books would be great. I read “Girl Wash Your Face” as you suggested. It’s one of my favorites now!

  15. Susan Stancliff says:

Tania I love the dress. Keep this color it is very flattering. Remember when you retired? Retired means not working as hard and learning how to relax and enjoy. You are such a busy woman but need to stop and smell the roses. If you want to take a day to yourself everything will still be there tomorrow. Enjoy this time. It has to be so nice not having to get up every morning and go to the office. Let yourself enjoy it. I can’t wait for my day!

  16. You look stunning!
I’m striving to find the right words to ask – what bra
do you wear/recommend for strapless or off the shoulder tops?
    Thanks , Tania

  17. Definitely keep the dress! Love the color and it’s good to branch out when you get the chance. I’m older than you are and implore you to slow down, Honey. The years pass way too quickly! Enjoy the moment.

  18. Portia Bell says:

Lob love this look & Joe did a great job picking out the clutch !

  19. Striving vs Striding – what I needed to hear today! I like the color of this dress on you but the cobalt would also be pretty

  20. Christie Jeske says:

Keep it! Rhe color is unique and looks great on you!

  21. Karen from Como says:

    Keep it. You look stunning!

  22. Lovely, just lovely. This color looks great on you and the style & cut is perfect. I’d keep this one. I’d like to have myself. I too have trouble enjoying the journey and seem to race to some unknown finish line because I never get there. When I saw this happening with my daughter it made me pause and I’m trying to show her how to enjoy her journey and not worry about getting to “that perfect place”. It’s not always easy.

  23. Judy Stallings says:

The whole outfit is PERFECT! KEEP the dress. Where did you get the scarf?

  24. Love it! Keep this color, perhaps you can get the cobalt too?!

  25. Lesli Obenschain says:

Keep it, i love that color on you…very sophisticated.

  26. Teresa Cecil Bolling says:

Keep it! It’s a great color on you! Love reading your blog every day!

  27. You look fabulous in this color..as one hamster to another..keep it. ?

  28. You look so cute & elegant! I would keep the green. It’s refreshing to see you in other colors than blue, and green is very flattering on you. Plus, I love the variety of color, as I rarely wear blue (other than jeans). I love the clutch that Joe got you, btw! Adorable.

  29. Jeananne Hawking says:

Keep the dress it’s fabulous on you! And I am exactly like you as far as finding it hard to stop and smell the roses, and my mom is the same way and my nanny (her mom) was too. We just can’t relax. I want to, but it’s impossible!! ?

  30. Wowwww! This is stunning?

  31. Keep the dress in this color! Looks great on you! And the scarf is a perfect addition as well as your new “Joe” purse.

  32. Sondra Koons says:

KEEP IT! My favorite color and I love the wristlet!

  33. Christine says:

Keep it! Looks fantastic on you!

  34. I like the idea of STRIDING rather than STRIVING. You could ‘stride’ at a faster pace, lol! With the dress, since it is so versatile, I would get BOTH colors! I do that often. When I find something I like I get it in more than one color.

  35. Keep it! This color looks great on you. And perfect for your Florida party.

  36. I love that color on you! As soon as I opened your blog I thought “Wow!!!”. It looks stunning on you. The whole outfit! I love the clutch too!! Now you need to book a cruise or another tropical vacation so you can wear this! It’s probably not something you are going to wear to dinner in Grundy! Unless there is an amazing restaurant you haven’t told us about!

  37. Keep! I love the colour on you and it’s a unique eye-catching shade!

  38. Keep the teal! I have finally slowed down after 18 months of retirement from teaching school where there was always pressure to keep up a schedule. Keep working on a new pace—it will come.

  39. Love the outfit, i would go for the blue though. Just yesterday my hamster friend and I (also a hamster) were trying to brainstorm ways to force ourselves to relax for at least an hour on the weekend. glad to hear we are not the only ones!

  40. Love the dress, I say keep it.
I was a maniac hampster for years. Now that I’m 72 I have found sitting back and enjoying life is so much better and I might add healthier .

  41. Love this color on you and the scarf is gorgeous. I wanted to share that I recently read an article about dry cleaning. The question was basically like yours…do I really have to? (Considering some of the fabric content). The article said unless the tag said “Dry Clean Only” it is safe to do a cold water test in in inconspicuous place. It may be more about color fade than fabric content. If your color holds in your little test you are safe to hand wash in very gently cleaner and do not wring roll up in a towel to get the water out. I’m sure you know the drill. I think this dress is definitely worth all that!!!! You look great!

  42. The blue may be more striking in colour but I like this one on you. It is softer and prettier. Most of my summer clothes are blue because that seems to be what is being sold and I am getting tired of it.

  43. I love this dress on you and the color is perfect! The scarf adds such a nice touch! I am a hamster and control freak too, my husband is always saying “just leave it”, whether its dishes or something else. I just can’t sit until all is done! Anyway, keep on doing what you’re doing, I click on your email first thing when I open up my computer in the morning! I love your blog!

  44. Keep this dress! It looks great on you.?

I am natured just like the way you describe yourself. I am always rushing and pushing, trying to get one more thing done. I am hardly ever sick, but once in a while, my body just collapses and needs a break, which is usually an earlier bed time or a nap. These crashes seem to happen about once every few months. My husband and daughter are total opposites of me. You absolutely cannot get either of them to get in a hurry!???

    Have a wonderful day.?

  45. Love the dress with the scarf. I’ve used scarves as belts but never occurred to me to use one that could easily use as a wrap as well…clever!!! Was a hamster but got burned so many times at work and realized I was not making time for family and myself. I sometimes feel like a turtle now

  46. Tania…keep the dress!! It’s a perfect color for you. And I love the jewelry and scarf you chose. You look marvelous, as Billy Crystal would say. ? Great outfit for a bachelorette party.

  47. Keep. Keep. Keep.

I think we go through seasons and just need to be reminded to breathe. I am like you in that regard. At the end of the day – we have to find a balance and a place of peace with being where we are—and where we want to be.

It’s good to strive to improve but also remember that we are also complete. You’re doing great!

  48. The dress is beautiful on you. You should keep it. I used to be a hamster in my younger days, but not any more. I was forced to stop and smell the roses when I got fibromyalgia and a bad back. I did accomplish a lot back in the hamster days, but I think I enjoy life more now.

  49. The dress is a keeper. And yes I am such a hamster also. Life is so busy in retirement lol

  50. oops – meant to mention the beautiful dress. Go with this one. The color is gorgeous on you. A little different and sometimes it’s good to step out of our norm. Gorgeous!

  51. Oh goodness, I am such a hamster. Gratefully, I do accomplish quite a bit but I do need to take a step back and catch my breath.

  52. Katy Crannell says:

the Dress color is perfect. You should keep it
