Joe and I had a fabulous time on our “date night” away this past weekend. We are the worst for “talking” about doing something but never actually doing it. We went to the Biltmore in Asheville, NC for my 50th birthday and loved the place. We planned to go back again, especially to go and watch the drum circle. I am now 58 years old and we have never been back. As I said, we are talkers but not doer’s. I think that in the old west it might have been something like, “big hat, no cattle.” Lol!!! But, I think that this time it might be different. Joe fell in love with the Carnegie Hotel and I can certainly understand why. It is gorgeous and stately. Lots and lots of dark stained wood that reminds you of what a library or study would look like in a castle, not that I have ever seen any in person. I meant to take pictures while we were there but there was a wedding going on and children were EVERYWHERE. They were running and playing tag, let’s just say that I am going to have to go back at another time. Lol! The food was amazing in the restaurant andJoe just went on and on about the fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese melted on top and the shrimp and grits with lots of cream. He also said that we would be starting a diet today. Hahaha! This was a rare moment when the kids had just ran down the hallway. I told Joe to quickly let me take a picture before they came back. Notice the Buffalo watching him in the background. Lol! Today, I am starting a small series where I am going to be styling this top in different ways. I asked you in an earlier post if this would be something of interest to you and I got a positive feedback on the idea. I decided on this top that I bought last year in Alaska when I was visiting my daughter. It is a nice print but nothing crazy so I thought that most of you could find something in your closet similar. This top is by Bobeau and it has a deep v-neck and is sleeveless. I love a v-neck because it is a flattering look since it elongates your neck. I like a sleeveless top because they are so versatile. You can wear them alone, with a jacket or a cardigan, or you can wear them with something underneath it. It is harder with a top like this to wear something underneath, but it is possible. Don’t issue a challenge. Lol! Here are several tops in the exact same style but with different patterns.
The Bobeau top has a pale peach background so I went with the Cassie earrings the have peach fringe on a gold hoop. These are not as large as some of the statement earrings since they are only 2.5″ but the fringe is a hot trend right now. Fringe is not going away anything soon and it is also expanding into the clothing and handbag arena quite heavily. The Constance necklace is a combination of colored fabrics on a gold chain. It is a peach/pink combination but the navy in the tassel is why I chose to wear it. I don’t have it on right now, but I just got the Frankie bracelet in. That bracelet has sold out twice before I could grab it so I encourage you to go and have a look at it if you like animal print. I am sure it will sell out again soon. I love my Plunder jewelry because it is affordable and I can get all the latest trends without spending a fortune. Go to www.plunderdesign.com/taniastephens to make a purchase and please pick a party with my name in it.
The color of these pants is extremely pale peach. This is a pair of linen pants that I bought last year at Cato Fashions when they went on sale. I laughed when I saw the 3.99 tag on them. I do love my bargains. Lol! Peach is not one of my favorite colors so I really wasn’t sure that I would wear these very much but at that price who cares. I wore these the other day (here) and someone commented that they looked too old for people our age. What? I just thought they looked like regular old pants. Lol! Since I have already worn these twice, I feel like I have already gotten my monies worth. Lol!!!
I added a navy mesh cardigan that I have had since last fall. It isn’t a lot of coverage so it is still easy to wear in the summer months. It just has enough coverage to hide your arms for those who are self-conscious about them. I just liked that it all tied in with the navy theme that I was wanting to pull out in the print of the top. When you look at the picture you will notice that the blue in the top now jumps out at you. When I style this top tomorrow that might not be the case.
I hope you are going to like this series of styling a printed top in different ways. Please be sure to leave comments and tell your friends about the blog.
