How to Style Blue for the Holidays for Women over 50
Blue is having a major moment this holiday season, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s one of my favorite colors. Plus, it’s elegant, flattering, and feels so much fresher than the traditional reds and greens! There’s a color for everyone in this trend, from soft pastels to rich navy. Here are some beautiful pieces that make styling blue for the holidays a breeze!
High-Low Holiday Chic: Swapping Black for a Sophisticated Blue
This is how you do a holiday outfit that feels cool and current. I’ve taken the richest fabrics, velvet and satin, and grounded them with modern, detailed denim. It’s the perfect high-low balance! The all-blue color palette is incredibly chic, making it look polished and expensive, but those embellished jeans keep it fun. This is great for a casual cocktail party, a dinner out, or a festive Friendsgiving gathering.
This deep navy velvet is exactly the fabric we need for the holidays. It instantly dresses up even the most basic pieces. I love how the Modern Blazer’s structure is tailored but still soft, making it comfortable enough to wear all evening. The velvet texture alone makes this feel like a major statement piece.
Helpful Fit Tip: This blazer does come with a matching belt, but I chose to wear it open and unbelted here. I found that cinching the belt added too much bulk around my midsection and interrupted the clean, tailored line. Wearing it open like this allows the velvet to drape beautifully and gives a much more flattering, streamlined look over the Lace Trimmed Satin Cami!
But these jeans are the real personality of this outfit! Wide Leg Crop Jeans are so current, but the glittery, embellished cuff is what officially makes them holiday-ready. They seamlessly transition denim from daytime casual to evening appropriate.
Classic Shetland Blazer – Pond Blue
A good blazer instantly polishes any outfit, and this Shetland version in Pond Blue is such a stunner. The color adds a cheerful twist to your holiday neutrals, while the tailored fit gives a structured, confident look. Who doesn’t want that?! The velvet jacket is fab. When the big cuff jeans first came out I was a “never”. I’m now at “I should at least try them on”
