HOW TO STYLE A CASUAL SUMMER OUTFIT
I have an appointment to get my hair done today, and I am so excited to get to go. I’ve been letting it grow out for a while, and it is starting to get too heavy. I have thick and coarse hair, so when it gets long, it is so heavy that it makes my hair look flat. Joe has started to tease me about having flat hair because he knows that it drives me nuts. Remember the little boys on the playground that would pull your hair if they liked you? Well, they grow up to be men who still do the same thing. Lol!
I saw where one of my readers posted that California is shutting down again, and she had a hair appointment for Monday. UGH! I hate to start going through this again for the hairdressers, as well as us ladies who need some help with our hair. I get it though, we need to be safe, and the Governors are in uncharted waters. They are trying to do what is best for the majority, and it is a trial and error type thing.
You gurls know that I love a versatile item. I want to be able to get more wears in, especially if the item is costly. If I feel like I got my monies worth by being able to wear it often, then it is worth the cost. That is how I felt about this gorgeous tank top. I love all of the colors and the beautiful summery print, but it was the fact that it was reversible that sold me on the top. This is the Florin Reversible top in the shade Saltwater Blue, and I am wearing a size medium.
Talk about lightweight but still making a statement; the Val Silver Hoop Earrings with iridescent crystals are fabulous. These are 2.5” in diameter, but they are thin, so they aren’t “in your face.” I also love the Jae Star Choker necklace that I recently purchased. I love the dainty look of the 5 stars, and it is also very lightweight.
I had to show all of you this photo of me. I burst out laughing when I saw it on my camera roll. This was when I was trying to show everyone the length of the top in the rear since it is a high/low hemline. However, I am not sure exactly what it looks like I was doing. LOL!!!
This was the look that I was going for but didn’t quite achieve. Lol! As you can see, the top will cover your rear so you can rest easy that nothing important is showing. Hahaha!
My handbag, or as I used to call them, purse, is a Kate Spade one that I earned through an RF incentive. Money was what I actually earned, but the bag was what I bought with the money. I loved this color, but they discontinued it shortly after I bought it. I like a bright handbag to add a pop of color to an outfit, and I have found that I will carry hot pink, bright blue, or a bright green one quite often.
I bought several of these shorts last year from Belk. They have a ton of colors, and I think they are perfect with tank tops and tees for a casual summer look. This has a 5” inseam, slant pockets, and they are a cotton/spandex blend. These are by Crown & Ivy, and they are 40% off until the 17th with the code BACK2COOL.

A reader asked about longer shorts..Some of us are at that age & for longer lengths, I found some at Steinmart. Peck and Peck. White, black, khaki and machine washable.
very lovely and breezy! where do you live that it’s 100F? I am up here in Northern CA, and it’s been in the 100s–when it gets into the 90s, it feels like winter! LOL!

THOSE blue sandals on sale for $39 at Talbots would sure go good with this outfit. Just saying.
Haha! Handbag. My Texas grandma called hers a pocketbook. As in hand me my pocketbook, I need a hankie. To this day I carry a cotton embroidered hankie in my purse. I use it usually to cover my face when I go somewhere smelly like past the smokers in the grocery store doorways or in nail salons that use acrylic. Those two things make me sneeze like crazy ????
My hair salon closes on Mondays, but my nail salon was open for two days. Some Calif counties never opened salons at all. Meanwhile the bars which opened have been closed again but I can’t feel sorry for those bar stool occupants. Seriously you can drink at home if you must!
I’m so embarrassed by my legs and I’m looking for just below the knee crops. If anyone finds those let us know.
Cute outfit! Enjoy your haircut, I’m jealous! I was so close to getting my hair done.
We’ll be looking for new hair tomorrow!!
Great summer outfit! That’s a bummer that Kate Spade discontinued that blue purse. I love that color!
That color is gorgeous. They came out with “similar” ones, so maybe one of those would make you happy.
So pretty and I love the shorts. Are the TTS? Are you wearing your normal size?
thanks!
Sandi
Yes, they are my usual size. They fit true to size.
