I am channeling my inner Johnny Cash today. Lol! Even though black is not my signature color, I do occasionally feel the need to drag it out of my closet. This weekend has been crazy. I had my little blonde haired whirlwind over and she kept me on my toes. However, my toes were not feeling the best this weekend. I think Joe has managed to give me some of his “man flu” and I haven’t felt the best. Then, the temperatures decided to drop and I just can’t seem to get warm. Brrrr, I don’t know how anyone who lives in the northern states ever gets used to the cold. I had NO energy this weekend, I slept a good part of the time. I tried to get Emersyn to take a nap with me on Saturday but she was not having that. So, I left her up with Joe while I slept for almost 2 hours. It was pretty comical because she would come into the bedroom every 30 minutes and say, “NeeNee, are you ready to get up yet?” “NeeNee, are you feeling better yet?” “NeeNee, are you finished with your nap?” “Tania, you have been asleep for 2 hours, it is time to get up!” Okay, that last one was Joe because he wanted to go to the airport. Lol!!! It is not often that “he” is the one to watch Emersyn. AND, by guessing from the number of times that I was woken up, I can only imagine how well that went over. Hahaha! From Johnny Cash (the man in black ) to AC/DC signing Black In Black, I am going to be showing you how to “rock” the black-on-black look. I feel that when I wear black next to my face that I look harsh and that is why I don’t wear it often. However, when I do wear black you will see me add another color next to my face to try and brighten the look. Sometimes I will add a scarf or a cardigan, but today I went with a bright red vest. My vest is an old one, and you might already have something in your closet. But, if not, then let’s go shopping.
I was completely blown away by the red Dottie necklace. It has so much sparkle and shine and the photos can’t even begin to do it justice. This is a necklace that you will wear over and over again. The Britt earrings were perfect for this look. I know that they are large and that they might not be everyone’s style, but they are super cute. My bling bracelets are the Essie, Ezra, and the Candy which was a special that was offered last Christmas and Valentines Day but is no longer available. I love bling and I just can’t seem to get enough. Lol! A good pair of black pants should be in everyone’s closet. I don’t care if you only have a capsule wardrobe of 30 items, one of them needs to be a pair of black pants. If you have a closet like mine, then you will have a pair of black leggings, black jeans, black trousers, black corduroy, etc. I think that you get the picture. Lol!
My black top is a simple black tunic and I added a pair of black ankle booties to finish the look. I love how versatile booties are. You can wear booties with jeans, pants, or dresses and leggings. Basically, you can wear them with anything. I get asked a lot if I wear socks with my booties and the answer is no. Normally I don’t wear socks but it the shoes are too big or if it is really cold then I will add a pair. Unless you are wanting the socks to be a part of the look, do not let them show!!!
I have been using the new Radiant Defense Perfecting Liquid for a month now and I love how it feels on my skin. It is a lightweight tinted liquid that is not a foundation or a cc cream. This product is actually “GOOD” for your skin. Rodan + Fields is not going to launch a product that will not be of a benefit to you. It might look and act like makeup but it is actually protecting and perfecting your skin. If you are interested in trying this product then let me know. I am going to be placing a bulk order and “I” will be paying the shipping for you. There are a couple of choices available. The price of the product by itself will be 59.00 plus tax. Or, if you are interested in the product PLUS the Radiant Defense tapered Brush that comes with its own case, then the price would be 93.00 plus tax. Or, maybe you want to try both of the newest launched products which are Radiant Defense Perfecting Liquid and the Active Hydration Body Replenish. To get both of those products, the cost would be 118.00 plus tax. This is a perfect way to try the latest products without the added commitment to become my Preferred Customer. Although, once you try these products, you will understand why I love them so much!
I love that outfit on you! Black is one of my favorite colors and I wear it all the time!
I live in Montana and it does get cold here but it is a different cold. It isn’t as humid here. You get cold but can warm up. When it’s cold and humid you are cold through to your bones.
I like wearing all black with a pop of color too. The vest is nice with the black trim on pockets. I don’t know how you where booties without socks. I just wear no-show ones. For everyone out there, take my advice and try this R&F offer. I have both products and they are wonderful. Especially the Body Replenish. Worth the money and your skin will thank you. And no, this is not a paid advertisement. Ha ha. ?
Lol! I don’t wear the no-show socks because I feel like they end up sliding off and down into my boots. I am laughing at your “not a paid advertisement” wording. YOU were a skeptic and it took you forever to finally try the products! Lol!!!
I think black looks very nice on you. I had to drag my black pants out yesterday for church since we were having our first snow which is the earliest we have ever had. I even told my hubby on the way to church that I HAD to buy some new pants this year as I get tired of wearing my black ones every Sunday even though I am very partial to black.
Love the black and red combo. I am a blonde so as I age the black in my wardrobe has been pared back. It is not kind to my skin color. I do love black pants as you have a true foundation for building an outfit. Best…Kathy
I love black clothes…a little too much! Haha I really reading your blogs in the morning!! And, no, I never really get use to the cold up here in Michigan!! Have a great day! 🙂
Love the pop of red you added to the look. As someone who was born and raised in New England, (and still lives there) you don’t get used to it, you just learn to deal with it. And it’s a great excuse to buy lots of sweaters and boots
The black on black column effect works for me but like you I must have colour with it otherwise it can be draining. I would also find it too boring without colour. I like this outfit on you.
I have found black against my face is not the thing to wear as I get older. It is really telling on my complexion. I like to add a scarf of any colour and it really does give me a whole different look.
Where do I buy this red jacket
Beautiful, slimming vest and gorgeous outfit! The necklace really makes it pop! So sorry you were sick!
Love this look on you!

I thought you might get a chuckle out of that.

Sandy, we need to go shopping and get you a few more pants!
Tania I will definitely be watching your post for suggestions on casual Fall/Winter pants/slacks to give me an idea of where to go look!
The most flattering outfit I have ever seen you wear!
Wow!!!
Love that outfit! I always gravitate to black and red.

Black can be harsh close to your face. Black pants are a true staple of a wardrobe!

Gina, my sister loves her black, too!

I love sweaters and boots but I can do without the cold and wet. Lol!
Don’t forget the snow. I swear people forget how to drive in the snow from one year to the next.

Yes, Janet. I am like you, I have to have color.
Love the black on black outfit

I do love adding a scarf to black to help soften the look.
