50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR WARDROBE | FASHION OVER 40Joe and I went out to eat last night for his birthday and our son and his family joined us. I took my laptop and sat worked on the blog while he went to his board meeting before we went out to eat. Little Miss Emersyn was mostly concerned about Pa getting some birthday cake for his birthday. I am not sure if she was concerned for “him” or if she was concerned that “she” might not get any. Lol! Little Beckham is just 7 months old so he is not able to eat real food yet but he did get to at least eat a little bit of baked potato.50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR WARDROBE | FASHION OVER 40 I wanted to let you know that I read your comments to Joe as we drove to his meeting. He laughed at some of them and wanted to know why I was mentioned in the comments, after all, it was HIS birthday and he thought the day should have been ALL about him. Lol!!! Today’s post is going to be short and sweet. I have been trying to bring you some before and after looks, such as how to go from a dressy look to a casual look. This outfit is a dressier version of yesterday’s post. I left some of the items the same but I changed up just a few things to have a totally different vibe going on.50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR WARDROBE | FASHION OVER 40Recognize the graphic sweater and vest? I decided to leave them the same because it is easier to change out tops and have a different look than it is the bottom half of an outfit. We don’t pay that much attention to pants, except when they are something that stands out like the camo pants from yesterday. They were more of a statement and therefore they were more memorable.50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR WARDROBE | FASHION OVER 40I wanted to go for a dressier look so I started with the jewelry. I added my pearl and large rhinestone stud earrings. I love these but they are no longer on the Plunder webpage. I should have worn the Jess Mo which matches the necklace anyway. Then guess what? The necklace is not available but the Paris necklace that matches the earrings is. Lol!!! The great thing about Plunder in that a lot of their jewelry is made to mix and match. Shock!!! The Flora bracelet with the large pearls and the chunky silver chain is still available. WHAT? Lol! This time of year is always very frustrating for me trying to link to the jewelry when they are getting to launch the new products coming out in April.50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR WARDROBE | FASHION OVER 40So, I changed out of the trendy camo pants with star highlights and instead chose to wear a pair of Ponte knit pants by Cato Fashions. This pair is stretchy and with a pull on design. They actually remind me of the old stirrup pants we use to wear so long ago without the stirrups. Even though this is a comfortable pair of pants they are a lot more dressy than the camo pants from yesterday. The small geometric print on the pants and the graphic sweater make this look modern.

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR WARDROBE | FASHION OVER 40Adding my Coach classic black pumps also stays with the dressy vibe. I could wear this pair of shoes even with shorts, they are classic and they can go with anything. This look might not be for some but I wanted to show you that even if your wardrobe is small that you can tweak your look by changing only a few items. I hope you liked the before and after, from casual to dressy looks. If you want to see more posts of this nature be sure to let me know.

Love to see you posting Cato Fashions! That’ s my go to store. I wish I could be a little more brave in my clothing choices. It seems I am afraid to step outside of the “box”. Seeing how you put things together helps me with that. Happy birthday to your hubby!

  2. Hi. When I saw picture I did a double take. I thought “that’s what she wore yesterday”. Then I realized the pants were different. It’s fun to see you change a few pieces and get whole new look. Good idea for times you’re in a hurry to go from casual to dressy. Good tip! I love those pumps, by the way. I want a pair. ?

    1. I was afraid that no one would open up the post when they saw the picture because the tops were the same. Lol!

Great treat to show us how to accessorize and add one item to dress up an outfit, girl! Hope Joe got his cake!

  4. I love seeing how you can change up an outfit! Gives me ideas and boy do I need them. I get stuck in a clothing rut and wear the same things over and over. I continue to love your posts- thanks so much for fashion inspiration!

    1. We all get in ruts, Debbie. I go through phases where I will wear one certain color all the time. Lol!

Enjoy your posts! Love how you put outfits together and it keeps me in the know! Lol. Give Joe a happy belated birthday from me!

  6. Love the pants! We are planning my husbands birthday and the the grandkids are more excited than he is. Have a great weekend!

  7. I like that you are showing us how to change up outfits to get the most out of wardrobe pieces. Please keep shopping Cato’s as that’s a store that is actually within an hour drive of me and I really need to get there and to Old Navy to shop some of the pieces that you have been showing. Your granddaughter sounds the same as ours…birthdays are not about presents but about the cake AND ice cream. She will be four in a month.

    1. I will probably be making a Cato run today. Lol! I wish that I had time to go shopping, I am needing a little retail therapy. Hahaha!

      1. Oh Tania…let me know if I need to make a hurried trip to Cato’s…LOL. I wish I “loved” shopping but I just hate to clothes shop. I’m so picky about how things look on me and really wish you were closer so you could be my personal shopper helping me pick out what does look good on me. Just because it looks so great on you, does not mean I will look as good in it. Happy shopping !!!!

  8. Sweet look and I love those pants!

  9. Love the casual/dressy versions of the same outfit. Pearls always elevate an outfit! Glad Joe had a nice birthday! Best…Kathy

    1. Yes, pearls are my go-to. They go with jeans or dresses, it doesn’t matter

  10. Happy belated birthday Joe. Hope you had cake!! ???
