HOW TO MAKE A STYLE WORK FOR YOUR BODY
I had an exciting weekend, and I hope all of you also did. If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen my Instastory about Emersyn and the red velvet cake. But, since so many of you probably did not hear the story, I am going to tell it again. If you already know the story, then you can skip ahead. Last week when Emersyn was visiting, she had gotten in trouble for being rotten (I was also shocked. Lol!) and her mother was telling me all of the things that she had done. Emersyn and I had a discussion, and it was agreed upon, that if she could be “good” for an entire week, then she and I would bake a red velvet cake.
I had completely forgotten about our agreement, but on Friday night, she reminded me by telling me that she had been good all week long. I told her that her mother had to say to me the same thing before we could bake the cake. I have my phone set on “do not disturb” so it doesn’t ring from 10:00 pm until 8:00 am unless it is one of my “favorites” who are family members. Saturday morning at 6:45, my phone started ringing, so I jumped up and ran to the phone. It worried me when one of my family is calling that early. I saw that it was my son’s phone, and when I answered, I heard, “NeeNee, I don’t have school today, so we can bake that red velvet cake.” I reminded the little rat that she had a football game to cheer for and that she needed to go back to sleep to rest. Dang! She sure had a red velvet cake on the brain! Later that day, her mom backed up her story, so I went to the store where I spent over 200.00. Obviously, I bought more items than was needed to bake a cake, but I swear I didn’t buy much. Grocery prices have gotten out of control. Saturday afternoon, she came over, and we started the process. She had a blast getting to pour in all of the ingredients and stir everything together. To be continued tomorrow…..
I think that the licking of the spatula was her favorite part.
If the first thing that you noticed it the sudden appearance of the sunflowers and the big red vase, then you have been reading my blog for a while. No, the vase has not been resurrected, it was beyond repair and has been trashed. But, I found several photos that I had taken that had never been published on the blog, so I thought that I needed to get them on here before summer is over. I love this bright pink top that I bought earlier in the spring. It is linen, so it is cool even in the hottest weather. The top is no longer on the website, they don’t keep clothing around for very long, but I did find some adorable pink tops that I thought you might like.

I know I’m late responding but was out of town yest. I love the pic of E. Being all twined around you and looking up! I love the pink stripe top you linked to! And I love the memory of y’all making Red Velvet Cake together! Wish I had a piece!
Would so love to share a slice of that cake. I bet it was delicious. This is a nice and simple casual outfit for those cooler days. Thank you for sharing – Regards – Jill stylishatsixty

You look so good in pink! I like the wide leg pants on other people just not me. Lol Cute pictures of you and Emersyn!
I was so excited to see the you use Hudson Cream Flour!!! I am from KS and live down the road from Hudson. They make the best products and it’s fun to see it being used far from “home”. Have a great day I enjoy your blog!!
Barb, that is so cool! I use Hudson Cream all the time.
You got that right about petite girls in those wide leg pants. Not a good look if you’re under five feet and a size med. Lol. Oh, my favorite times were baking with the kids. How could that sweet little thing be rotten??? Impossible.
Cheryl, believe me when I say that she is totally rotten. Lol!
Are the wide leg pants you have on still available? I love that pink and blue scarf in the widget. Miss E’s outfit is so cute too!
No, Sandy, these pants aren’t available. They are old, but I still like them.
Aren’t our grandkids just the sweetest? I love your wide-legged pants. Honestly, because of my height, (I’m 1.59m tall/5’1″), I tend to steer away from them, but when I saw your pics, I remembered I had a similar pair. I would have thought they were exactly the same, except mine are from a local brand, and I live in South Africa. I did just what you said about the hem length. When I bought them, they were way too long, so I took off about 3 inches, and now they hit me on the top of my foot, just below the ankle. One of only 3 pairs of wide-legged pants I have…
Looking forward to Part 2.
(Belinda) xo
Belinda, it is so lovely to hear from you all the way from South Africa!!! I love how the internet lets us connect with people all over the world.
Looking forward to see the result!
It was delicious, even if I do say so myself.
