HOW TO KEEP BLACK FROM LOOKING GLOOMY
Remember when Joe remarked in this post about my hair looking like my dog’s hair? Lucy was a stray that we found almost two years ago. My sister-in-law saw this mud encrusted little dog walking down the railroad tracks behind my house. We went outside and whistled for she but it took off when it saw us. The next morning when I looked outside the little thing was on my back porch eating out of my cat’s bowl. I snuck around the other door and tried to see if I could trap her inside my fence but she must have heard me coming because she was gone by the time I opened the gate. The next time I saw the poor little thing
she was walking down the road that runs in front of my house along my fence line. She started to run off when she saw me coming so I honked my horn and she stopped in its tracks. I opened my car door, squatted down, and called for her. I was shocked when she came running right to me. I opened the car door and she tried to get in so I picked her up and took her to work with me. Oh my goodness, she was covered in mud and had burs all through her mangy mess. I took her to get cleaned and washed and she did at least look better. But, that was a long time ago and she had been in need of a haircut for some time. Her appointment was finally yesterday so I asked my son to take her to get the haircut while I jumped in the shower. I forgot to tell Joseph how to have her hair cut so the lady called back to check. Joe came into the bathroom and asked what how I wanted her cut. I yelled back at him (still in the shower) and told him to tell her to cut it shorter. He heard short! Joseph went to pick her back up later that day and when he walked in he said, “where’s Lucy?” He was looking around and couldn’t find her. The lady pointed at the kennel right beside him and Joseph said, “but that dog is a Beagle.” Lol!!! Poor, Lucy, is now sheared.
At least Joe can’t say that my hair looks like Lucy’s anymore, but I do have a hair appointment later this week. ? Lol!!! Today I am showing you how to make black still look great for Spring. Black can be overpowering and gloomy if we are not careful. I like adding color to the mix and brightening the outfit and also my outlook. Hot pink will make my spirits soar every time but you could use a different color if you wanted. I also like bright blue, yellow, and reds when I wear black. By just adding a white jacket to this look it would have looked bright and classic also. Don’t be afraid to play and experiment with color, you might just surprise yourself at how creative you have become.
I chose some antiqued looking earrings called the Ollie today. They are sold out at this time but since they are still on the Plunder Design website so I think they might be replenished soon. The matching bracelet, however, is no longer on the website. Even though this bracelet was not available that did not stop me from finding some jewelry that you might like.
These tiny geometric print crop pants are from Cato and they are several years old. I saw a pair similar to them at Ann Taylors and I didn’t buy them so when I saw these, I snagged them quickly. Because the print is so tiny it acts like a solid print. It is very easy to add another print to the look, like the scarf, and even the snakeskin shoes. I love a crop pant because they can be very casual like this look or you can add a blazer and a pair of high heels for a dressed occasion. Make sure you look for versatility in your clothing.
The star of the show is the snow leopard print scarf. It is affordable and it really makes an impact. This one is lightweight material so those of you how don’t want and more added heat to your body will even be able to wear one like this. I am just wearing mine loosely tied and letting it hang down long. This brings your eyes in toward my center making me appear thinner and the “V” created with the tie elongates my neck. And you just thought I threw on a scarf for the cuteness factor. Lol!I really appreciate all of the shares and the pins of my outfits that you have been doing. PLEASE continue to do that, you won’t believe the difference it has made in my number of visitors to my blog.

I love this outfit! Very cute and looks great on you…Where did you get the scarf? It looks like it’s just the right size…I love scarves but sometimes they are too big or too long or too something not quite right (lol)
That shade of pink is lovely on you!!
Love this outfit! Black, white and bright pink are some of my favorites!
Sort of off-topic from today’s fashion post, but I wanted to let you know that I read Hope In The Holler, and I LOVED it! I kept seeing the link every day when I’d check your blog, and finally I got curious and clicked. Then Amazon has that thing where you can read part of the book—I was hooked right in, so of course had to order it to see what happens next. Never thought I’d be reading a “youth” book at 54 and enjoying it, but I evermore LOVED it, and especially the character of Gilbert. So much fun, and a satisfying ending!
Sandra, I can’t wait to mention this to my sister. She really is very talented and once you start reading her book you can’t put it down until you are finished. Gilbert was quite a little character, wasn’t he? Lol!
Thank you for buying and reading and commenting!!! Would you please take a moment and leave a review on Amazon?? You don’t have to do anything other than choose a star rating, so no pressure, but it seems to help. Thanks again for sharing! My day is made.
Awww, poor Lucy! But I’ll bet she’s comfortable for summer! (NOT a Beagle!) I love your sassy outfit & I’m with you – hot pink always looks stylin! So cute w/the scarf & matching shoes!
