How To Extend Your Wardrobe For Fall
I’m sure you already know that wearing your clothing in multiple ways will extend your wardrobe. But, there are times when we get caught in a “clothing loop,” and we wear the same thing over and over again in the exact same way. BORING! Today, I’m styling several outfits from one pair of jeans to show you how easy it is to extend your wardrobe for fall.
Extend Your Wardrobe For Fall With A Printed Top
How fun is this outfit??? I decided to style a pair of Pecan Brown jeans in multiple ways for fall. The jeans are relaxed and slightly baggy, and I love that they are a pull-on style. But the color is not one you see every day, so I thought you might enjoy seeing how I styled them for fall. The jeans are sized small, medium, large, etc., and I purchased a large the first time. Those were too baggy for me, so I returned them for a medium, which fit much better.
Here is where I wore them the other day, and even though they don’t look too baggy, they were. They have a lot of stretch, so you will want to size down when ordering.
You don’t always have to wear solids to extend your outfits. While a print is more memorable than a solid, it can also be worn with lots of other clothing. Take a close look at this Peacock Everyday Crew Neck Tee. Would you have chosen to wear the tee with brown jeans? This tee has so many colors that you could almost wear it with nearly anything. Of course, it would look great with dark wash jeans, but I think it looks pretty spiffy with the Pecan Brown jeans I’m wearing. The tee can be worn now with shorts or chinos, but adding this navy Lightweight Vee Cardigan will extend your wearing period into early fall. I love the navy and brown color combo; I think it is stylish.
My sister and I both fell in love with this Canvas Laptop Bag. I love white and tan, and the bag is large and roomy. When I travel, I usually take my laptop, chargers, password book, and a planner. I need a nice large tote. If you’re worried about keeping it clean, it is available in black or leopard print.
Extend Your Wardrobe For Fall With A Vest
You could wear this Button Down Denim Shirt with the brown jeans, and no one would probably think anything about it. But, when fall rolls around (I promise, it is coming), adding this Olive Lightweight Quilted Vest will make a big difference.
If you’ve been looking for a denim shirt, you will want to check out the post I did earlier this week on Affordable Denim Shirts For Fall. A denim shirt is great to wear by itself, but it makes a wonderful layering item. You can wear it with a quilted vest like this one, a sweater, a cardigan, or a jacket, and even dress it up with a blazer. It goes under an essential item for the fall category.
I bought this Lightweight Quilted Vest last year and got a lot of wear from it. It is excellent for adding just a touch of warmth when you don’t need a coat. Plus, a lightweight vest is perfect for layering under a coat and helps to keep your core warm. It might still be warm where you are now, but you’ll be glad you listened to me when the temperatures drop. Lol!
I usually carry tan/caramel handbags, but I reach for black bags in the fall and winter. I’ve ordered a LOT of crossbodies lately in search of the perfect one for traveling. This Classic Dome Crossbody is great for running errands and shopping but isn’t my favorite for traveling. I need a slightly larger bag than this one.
Extend Your Wardrobe For Fall With A Denim Jacket
A Denim Jacket is an essential fall, winter, summer, and spring item at my house. I wear them year-round because you never know when a restaurant will turn the air down to sub-zero.
You can layer a Denim Jacket over sweaters, tops, tees, and vests; they always look chic. I’m not sure how a Denim Jacket has become such a fashion icon, but I am sure that everyone needs at least one. Lol!
I layered this jacket over an olive sweater vest from J.Crew Factory, but it has completely sold out. I get a lot of questions about the large hoops I’ve been wearing lately, so here is a closer view of them. I like the size and weight of these hoops. They are substantial and feel great.
This Italian Leather Triple Compartment Crossbody is one that I ordered for my upcoming post about a travel crossbody. This one made the cut and is #1 in the tan/caramel category so far. I’ve been carrying it a lot over the past few weeks, and I love the size and all the compartments.
It has three separate compartments so I can keep many things in it. The bag is a great size and seems to hold up to my rough ways of dealing with handbags. I don’t coddle them, that’s for sure.
Extend Your Wardrobe For Fall With A Statement Top
This Gathered Yoke Popover Top could also go under the “Printed Top” heading, but this one has a design detail that makes it unique.
I love the muted shade of green on this Gathered Yoke Popover Top, but the gathered yoke makes a statement. The fabric is flowy and feels great against your skin. I don’t know why I even ordered this top because it doesn’t look like something that would catch my eye. However, I was thrilled when I took it out of the bag. The top is deceiving at how cute it is in person, and I love the tiny dots that make up the print.
The previous bag might be perfect for traveling, but it is also a bit on the expensive side. I’ve carried this Quilted Crossbody Bag a lot this summer, and it is so cute and not nearly as expensive. This bag is smaller than the square one above, but it still has room for my phone, keys, and a small wallet. I’ve recently started carrying this small wallet, which works well with smaller crossbody bags.

We are supposed to have rain move in here on Monday and depending on what happens in the gulf, we could be dealing with impacts from the tropical storm. But with the triple digit temps we are having, the rain will be a welcomed change. I really like the peacock top from Loft and am considering ordering it. I find it interesting that you had to size down in the brown jeans because I ordered them in my usual size but could not begin to zip them up. So, I had to order up one size, which fits. And I’m puzzled that he ones I got are not just pull on, since you mention that yours are.
Ginger, the jeans have a lot of stretch to them, and I sized down to keep them from being too loose after I’ve worn them an hour or so.
I love the idea of extending your wardrobe by adding a vest. This allows me to transition easier with one additional piece of clothing.

I like the first combination, peacock tee and cardigan combination. I would like to try the pecan color jeans, but a few negative reviews about the distressing on them have me concerned.
