HOW TO ACCESSORIZE FOR THE HOLIDAYS
I had a fantastic time in Livingston this past weekend. It is a running joke with everyone about the weather. It can be in the 80’s all week long but you can bet that by the time it is time for the grandbabies birthday party the weather will have changed. And when I say changed I mean that you need to wear long johns and gloves. This year was no different since the high for the day was going to be 42 degrees.
The party is held in a barn which has been decorated. They served hot cocoa, coffee, and hot apple cider to drink and they had hot dogs and chili to eat. In an effort to help everyone keep warm, they built a huge bonfire and had several outdoor heaters set up. That is where you would find everyone, huddled around a heater or the fire talking. I ended up going as Mary Poppins and as my sweet mother pointed out to me, I was living up to my name. I was popping the buttons on the shirt it was so tight. Lol! Leave it to your mother to tell you the simple truths in life.
This long black duster was something that I picked up the other day at the overstock store in town. The tag was missing so I can’t tell you the brand name. It was really soft and I thought it might have been cashmere when I first felt it but alas it wasn’t. I still bought it because I love a long duster and I thought I could splurge since it was $12.00. Lol! The way this hangs it really helps to hide my imperfections. Because it only shows a small part of my stomach area it creates the illusion that I am really that small. Just ask my mom, she will tell you this is all an illusion. Lol!!!
I wanted to wear my skeleton earrings before Halloween was over. Actually, they are a pair of my daughter’s earrings that she left when she moved to Alaska so I guess I inherited them. They are cute and move as you walk. My skull infinity scarf is one I bought for my daughter but she said she didn’t like scarves so I just kept it. I like having festive accessories but not being all head-to-toe decked out. It still gets the point across by having a simple scarf instead of flashing neon lights.
Here is my “Practically Perfect In Every Way,” variation on Mary Poppins. I had my hair pulled back so that the blonde didn’t show but the hairband broke and I couldn’t get it to stay back after that.
My son and his family always have the cutest costumes. Stephanie is so talented and she will piece together things from Goodwill that makes them look so authentic. Little Jett (aka ET), Huttson (aka Elliott), and Matti B (aka Gertie) did a great job along with the astronauts (aka Matthan and Stephanie)
Because I know I confuse people with the way I wear infinity scarves I thought I would show you the “normal” version. I don’t wear them like this because I don’t like a lot of material bunched up around my neck.
The Active Hydration Bright Eye Complex giveaway is still going and I will announce the winner on Halloween. Today is the last day if you have not yet entered then go (HERE) to see how to enter.

Tania – LOVE your Mary Poppins costume!! So cute!
Well, the illusion sure works on today’s outfit, because my first thought was that you have dropped weight!
I am a master at illusion. Lol!!!
scarves can be worn any way you want them, I usually end up making a skirt out of my infinity scarves
Thanks, Mary, for the heads up about making it a skirt. That would be cute as a bathing suit coverup.
Love your outfit (both) and the family pics are so good.
Your Mary Poppins costume was perfect ! I must pick me up a Halloween scarf! Have you tried twisting the scarf twice before you wrap it around? It will make the scarf alot less bulky. It’s still very unseasonably warm here for fall, no complaints! Lol
I’ll try twisting it before I put it on and see if I like that look. Thanks!
Love all your costumes very clever ? and I like your idea of a nod to Halloween with your scarf I have a khaki green scarf with skeletons so I might rob that idea ?looking “practically perfect” as always Tania
Such an adorable post Tania – loving that halloween scarf of yours!

I love your Mary Poppins costume. I always admire costumes that are put together from things around the house and Goodwill. I never had the knack. Hope you were able to stay warm at the birthday party. I have a royal blue scull scarf that I am going to wear hanging long. In fact I am going to copy your entire outfit, but with a shorter sweater! Thanks for the inspiration!
What a perfect Mary Poppins!! Love the mom story. Happy Halloween. Enjoy your blog!
Tania, you look beautiful! I don’t think you have many imperfections. I look forward to getting emails to read and get ideas how to dress and look good. You have given me many ideas, thank you. I love your bubbly personality. Blessing, Pamela
