HOW DO YOU SHOW YOUR LOVE
Life is not like the Harlequin romance novels I remember my grandmother reading when I was a child. I have never had a bare-chested man on a horseback come and save me from someone who meant to do me harm. I have never had some fight a duel to the death over me and for that, I am actually thankful. And, Joe is not the type that will write a poem waning on about my flaxen hair or that my eyes are like deep pools of serene water.
I show my love in small ways also. I make sure that his coffee is set so that it is waiting on him when he gets up in the morning. I have a coffee cup already set out and waiting for him when he walks into the kitchen. I greet him with a kiss every morning and we talk about what we have planned for the day. At night when we go to bed, I try to have his side of the bed already warmed up by turning on the electric blanket earlier in the night. These are just small, very small ways of showing my love. There is nothing earth-shattering or even romantic about these small gestures of my love. These are nothing in comparison to what the Lord did to show His love for me and you.
God sacrificed His only SON for you and me. There is no greater love than laying down your life for another. The thoughts of sacrificing one of my children for someone else is inconceivable to me, especially when that someone else is not deserving of the sacrifice.
But that is not the only way that the Lord shows us his love. He shows his love in our creation. He made you. He took the time to put thought into your hair color, the way your smile would light up a room, and the special gifts He would bestow on you. He gave each one of us our own special gift, one that you may not even be aware that you possess. He has a plan and a purpose for each one of us because He loves us.
The Lord loves us enough to shine His grace upon us and give us the hope of salvation. When He takes us to His home we will experience His love and His light will shine upon our face.
This Valentine’s Day I will be showing my love to Joe in small gestures but I am going to take the time to thank the Lord for His LARGE gestures of love for me.
Have a Blessed Day!
True. Love comes in all shapes and sizes. It is sometimes romantic and sometimes messy. God is good…all the time.
Thought you would like to know that the Cleveland Plain Dealer reviewed Hope in the Holler today. They gave it a nice write up for Young Adults.
Happy Sunday. My husband and I don’t fall for the Valentines “money grab” as we call it. People made to feel that love is only shown by spending money on flowers, candy, jewelry etc. Like you we believe real love is shown in the small day to day care we give each other. Those mean more than flowers that die, candy that’s eaten & jewelry that gets forgotten. I’m thankful for that. And most thankful for God’s love for us because without that we can’t love others and have hope for our future.
I love your Sunday posts. You and Joe are a great couple. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!!
Tania…this’s is a beautiful post. So true and spot on. Remembering Gods love for us and focusing away from the commercialization of the day is something we should all do. Happy Valentine’s Day. God bless! Best… Kathy
Beautiful and so true.
I thank God every morning for all the gifts He has given me. His most precious gift of all is sacrificing His Son on the cross for my sins. What a gift of love!
Those small everyday ways we show love mean so much more than the big gestures. Joe is a lucky guy! God Bless and have a good week.
Happy Valentine’s Day.
Love this Tania! We love because He first loved us
Tania, such a sweet & inspiring post! Yes, i agree
It’s caring for and loving one another that’s more important than anything else. Anytime we do “things”
to help, in any capacity, we’re showing
real love. ? And, that’s what It’s all about !
