50 IS NOT OLD | HOPE IN THE HOLLERHow many of you know what a “holler” is? If you are a southern gurl then you might have raised your hand. For the rest of you, I will give you a brief description. First off, you are traveling down the main road, usually a paved nice road, and you turn off of that road to a smaller, winding road that snakes its way between two mountains. There will be lots of houses on the sides of the mountains and there can even be more offshoots or hollers from that road. Welcome to the Appalachians and the way of living in these mountains.50 IS NOT OLD | HOPE IN THE HOLLERThe reason I am telling you about hollers is because my talented sister has her new book about to be published this coming January. It is titled, Hope In The Holler and it takes place in Kentucky. This is a sweet story about Wavie and how she finds her way after losing her mother and being thrown into a situation of finding out she has an “Aunt” that is anything but caring. This book is really good and even though it is written for Middle Grade, you will love it. The first reviews just started coming in and it received a “star” review from Kirkus, go here to read the review. Kirkus doesn’t ring a bell for me but if you are an author then you know that they are one of the powerhouses when it comes to reviews. My sister was doing a happy dance when she called me. Lol!!! Go here to get yours on pre-order. 50 IS NOT OLD | HOPE IN THE HOLLERHave I been in a yellow/gold/mustard kind of mindset lately? Maybe it is not me but that this color is really popular this fall. I like this darker more dull color of yellow but I am not a big fan of the bright yellow color. I don’t like the way the bright yellow looks next to my skin. This was a top that I bought at a local boutique months ago (means no longer in stock there) and I really liked the tie waist. I wasn’t sure how I was going to like this trend but I find it to be really flattering and that is good enough for me. Lol!

50 IS NOT OLD | HOPE IN THE HOLLERYou can really see the sheen on the Dakota earrings I am wearing today. These are so lightweight that you can’t even feel them on. These are made of leather and would be perfect to have a monogram put on them. The Davina necklace (short one) and the Bella Rose necklace (long one) are perfect to wear with the golden tones of the top. I really prefer gold jewelry but I like it all. Lol! The bracelets are from Alex and Ani and I have a whole collection of them. I know you can’t see the other bracelets on my left arm very well in this picture but they are the Ashlyn and the Celine. I also have a gold bangle from Kate Spade on.  50 IS NOT OLD | HOPE IN THE HOLLER I am still loving my leopard/cheetah print purse from a blog reader, Annie! I thought the color in the purse and the color of my Isaac Mizrahi suede ankle boots matched perfectly. I know it is not “cool” or “hip” to match your purse to your shoes but I think you will forgive me. Lol! I love the animal print and I think it makes the look more youthful.

I needed a little extra warmth today so I added the open front duster by Lisa Rinna. I bought this cardigan in Navy first and I loved the look and feel of it so much that I went back and bought the bronze color. I can’t really describe what it is that I like about it so much, but I do. lol! Evidently, I must not be the only one who liked this cardigan because the sizes are very limited on some of the colors. 50 IS NOT OLD | HOPE IN THE HOLLERWhat a wonderful month this has been! I love November and December because they bring families together. I love being able to spend time with my parents, siblings, grandbabies, grandfather, aunts and uncles, and my nieces and nephews. It really does make you reconsider what is important in life.

I also have had a wonderful month in my R+F business. I love sharing my love of R+F with all of you. I have SEVERAL samples that I would love to share with anyone who has never tried the products but is curious. Comment and I will give out the samples until I run out.

I am really trying to gain readership and subscribers. When I hit 10,000 subscribers then I am going to have a huge celebration with lots of giveaways. I would love a sample of R&F. I’ve heard about the creams that reverse sun damage and interested in that. Thanks for your blog. Love the outfit ideas!

    1. Denise, I’ll email you with some information on R+F.

I love your style! What’s the correct way to wear ankle boots with jeans folded up? Where should the ankle boots actually come to on your leg? I have several pair of short boots but none actually stop at my ankle.

I’ve heard many good things about R & F, especially the lash boost. Would the last boost help eye brows? Mine are thinning horribly.

    Many thanks, Cindy

    1. Cindy, thanks so much for following my blog. There is a rule of thumb that says roll up your jeans once for flats and twice for ankle boots. You want to create a small amount of space between the jeans and the shoe. You can even have LARGE cuffs, they look really cute too. You just need to stand in front of the mirror and try the looks.

Yes, lash boost will help with eyebrows. If you have a viable hair follicle (one that has not died) then it should help you. I know several people who use the serum that is on the brush on their lashes and then swipe the leftover serum on the side of the wand on their eyebrows.

  3. Absolutely love your blog. Never heard the tern holler but then I an an Irish Canadian Snowbird wintering in Phoenix!! I need and would love a sample of R + F.

  4. Hello Tania. I am new to your blog as well and I just feel so blessed to have found you. I live in West TN so I do understand the hollers. I love your style and just the great lady you are. I feel like I know you with all you share… and we are very much alike in our age and even hairstyle. I am not familiar at all with R + F and would love a sample. Thank you for being a bright light in this dark world. Thanks Tania!!
