HIT OR MISS – COLOR BLOCK STRIPES
Yay! My favorite time of the week is here!!! It is Wednesday, so that means that the week is half over, and the weekend will soon be here. AND, it also means that it is time for my Hit or Miss post. I am showing an outfit each Wednesday and asking for your input. Is the outfit a HIT, or is it a MISS? Plus, would you wear the outfit or parts of the outfit?
I have a love/hate relationship with color-block clothing. The design is beautiful to look at, but I can sometimes struggle in figuring out how to wear it in my everyday life. A lot of my issue comes from the color combinations. If the colors are easily matched with existing items in my wardrobe, then I can easily create an outfit. However, if the colors are unique, I either need to buy a coordinating item to wear with it or pick a color that will harmonize with the look.
Because of these reasons, I am putting a color-block striped shirt on the Hit or Miss post.
The great thing about this color-block striped shirt is that the colors are easy to wear. White, blue, and yellow are primary colors, so finding something to wear with this shirt will be easy. The stripe pattern is playful, and I love how the sleeves, collar, and pocket add color and interest to the shirt. The color change adds interest and a unique detail to what was an ordinary blue striped shirt.
I’m wearing a medium that fits like it is supposed to, oversized. I wanted a slightly more fitted look, so I tied the shirt at the waist. From this photo, you can see the length of the shirt in the back.
Adding this Navy Doubled Breasted Trench to the outfit gave it contrast and grounded the look. A third piece or a completer piece adds dimension and makes your outfit look finished, put together, and polished. This trench is also practical and is perfect for adding warmth to any spring outfit. I’m wearing a size 10, and the fit is perfect.
The Ivory Coach Shoulder Bag is a great neutral. It is a smaller handbag than what I usually like, so I ordered this Pebbled Leather Shoulder Bag instead to try. I can’t wait to get the Pebbled Leather one in, its looks like a great size that will hold all of my stuff. The smaller bag will hold my essentials, but not a lot more.
These bootcut raw hem jeans, however, are too big for me. I’m struggling to order the size I need since I’ve lost weight. I’ve always erred on something fitting too big as too small. I can still style an item that is too big, but if something is too little, it is hard to take a photo of it, especially if it won’t even go over my hips, which has happened before. Lol!
I loved the soft denim, and the color is perfect for spring and summer. The raw hem is something that I like, so this is another draw for me. Because I like these jeans so much, and because they are now on sale for 25% off, I ordered myself a size down, and these are going back. I’m wearing a 10 in these photos, and I have an 8 on order.
I’m wearing a pair of Vince Camuto Platform Sandals with this look since the jeans have a 33″ inseam. Bootcut and flare jeans tend to be longer, so a heel is called for. These beige leather sandals are on-trend, and you can wear them with a lot of your spring and summer outfits. The platform is 1.5″ tall, and they have a 3.5″ block heel.
Last week’s Hit or Miss was this gorgeous maxi dress. I know many of you loved the dress, but it was all sold out. It is now back in stock in all sizes. The wrap helps to camouflage the stomach area, which is where I hold most of my weight. Plus, the way the dress drapes and ties to one side helps create curves that I desperately need since I’m built like a ruler. I also ordered the gray version since I love this one so much and since it is under $40! I’m wearing a size large.
Here is how you order:
Now, it is time for your input…Hit or Miss? What do you like about the outfit, and what would you change?

I’m not a fan of color block. I do like blue and yellow, but not together. A full blue or full yellow shirt is more to my liking. I do like the outfit as a whole though. Love the shoes. 💗
Love the color block shirt.
You are darling in anything, but if I were to tweak the outfit, I might try the sleeves rolled up with cute bangles. Though wide leg jeans are having a moment, I might like skinny or straight leg jeans with a loafer.
Again, your adorable! And I’m loving your blog. ♥️
I usually do not like color blocked items, as they are too”blocked”. I love this shirt as the blocking is subtle, This outfit is a hit, though I’d prefer jeans with finished hems.
I have always loved stripes! I love the shirt and the pants. Would not wear the jacket. Purse and shoes look great too
I would wear the shirt in a heartbeat!
Tania pretty sure you could wear a rag and look great but this isn’t my favorite look, maybe it’s because the shirt with the long sleeves and breast pocket look a little overwhelming on you, with the third piece it looks better to my eye. I’m also just not a fan of flared jeans and platform shoes that thick. Maybe it’s the light wash of the jeans throwing things off too. So while not a complete miss, not a total hit either.
I am not a fan of the color block with patterns, but I like the pants and shoes.
Complete miss for me. Colors in the shirt are too light for my taste; also dislike a pocket over my breast. I dislike frayed pants and despise long pants that drag or cover shoes which yours tend to do frequently.
I think the whole outfit looks great on you. The pastel colors look great on you, but I need more vivid colors as a winter. I have purchased a few of the flare jeans and think we will all adjust in time. I also like the platform sandals. It’s a hit for you, 2/3 of a hit for me😊
