GROMMETS ON A DRESS
I talked to my sister this morning and she was telling me some stories on my brother’s little girl, Allison. You have heard me tell other stories about her, my brother and sister-in-law are going to have their hands full for a LONG time. My mother has been taking her to Vacation Bible School this past week and just like a grandmother she was giving her some instructions on how to act. She is 6 years old and can be quite the handful. Lol! Anyway, my mother told her to be nice and act mature since she was the youngest child in the class. Her reply was, “Why are you trying to make me something that I am not?”
My mother has become quite the animal lover and will take in everything that she sees. She and Allison were in a parking lot while running some errands and my mom saw a small dog that looked like a Chihuahua. Mom told Allison that my dad would strangle her if she took it home. Later that night they got ready to leave to go to VBS and mom was backing out of the driveway. She saw one of her dogs running around and she told Allison not to worry that she wouldn’t hit the dog. Then my dad walked behind the vehicle and mom said she wouldn’t hit him either. Allison piped up and said, “on the bright side at least you could get that Chihuahua.” What are they going to do with her? Lol!!!
Little sisters can be good for some things. In this case, it would be giving me a dress that she bought for herself but didn’t like. I, on the other hand, love this dress. She bought it a ROSS but when she put it on she didn’t like the effect. She is shorter than I am and has a much larger chest. She told me that it looked like she was wearing a tent. Lol! Awwww, I hate that for her……not! Now, I get the dress. Hahaha! I like the material and how easy this dress is to wear. The straps are good and wide so I didn’t have to worry about my bra straps peeking out. The grommets around the neckline are the unique feature and it adds some dressiness to the dress. Lol! The brand of the dress is Expresso.
Do you know what my number one referrer page is? It is Pinterest! I truly appreciate every time you “pin” a picture. Heck, pin ALL the pictures if you want. Lol! Also, if you would like to share my posts on Facebook or Twitter, I would appreciate that. It helps get my blog out to more people, and I am sure you just want to spread the entertaining sayings I have. Lol! The comment section is at the end of the post, so keep scrolling. I look forward to reading all the comments, they make my day.

So cute on you!
I have the same dress in black. Also from Ross! Now I know what to wear with it. Love the shoes.
I have a Plunder Jewelry question that I thought you could help me with. I love your blog, I am always happy after I view your blog.
Hi! I am new to your blog and love it! You may have already mentioned this in previous posts….. do you use under eye concealer? If so, what do you use? I know that you are an advocate of R&F. Your complexion is beautiful! Do you have a favorite makeup foundation? Thank you so much!
Carla, I use the CC Cream by It Cosmetics and I use Urban Decay under eye concealer.
I love the dress, and I was just going to ask about grommets on a dress or shirt and how big should they go?? I found a dress that had large grommets around the collar, in a beautiful red, would that be tooo much??
Thanks for any advice you can give.
If you like the look, Jeanne, then it is up to you. The one dress I linked to had large grommets and I thought it looked fabulous.
Thank you, I guess it just depends on how it looks on. These fashions are changing so quick, you just never know.. Thanks
Love the dress, and your niece sounds adorable. On another note, I have tried to email a couple of times regarding Rodan & Fields and they keep not going thru. Not sure what I am doing wrong. My main question was, if I’m not interested in becoming a representative, does it still benefit you if I place an order thru you? My email is pamelabentz@gmail.com. Maybe if we try it with you emailing me it will work! 🙂 Anyway, love your blog. It always makes me smile.
Hi, Pam. I sent you an email, I don’t know what is the problem with my email. Yes, it will benefit me, thank you for asking.
“On the bright side, at least you could get the chihuahua…” LLLLLOOOOOLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!
I’d let my sister bequeath me a dress like that anytime!
love this on you but i’m not much of a dress person..
Love the dress!! I also love all your stories of your family, puts a smile on my face everyday!! Thanks!
Love this simple outfit . This is great outfit for a quick church look when your running late. That’s me most Sundays. I love the stories about your family.
You look adorable as always. I love the stories about your niece. I have a 6 yr old granddaughter that sounds like they are related. I have a funny story Im planning on sharing on Face Book. Kids this age are so funny!
The dress looks great on you…and the hair cut is very cute!!
In response to yesterday’s post. A bad day is not when your hairdresser calls and she is running late. A bad day is when you are told you have cancer! Be thankful count your blessings that you are able physically to go to the hairdresser and you can afford to pay for it!
I wouldn’t call myself a “frumpy” dresser by any means, but I’ve been feeling lately like my inner “fun and fancy free” has been squelched by life and all of its stresses for the past 5 or so years now… which oddly enough, has been reflected in my wardrobe! So after searching on Pinterest for “Styles for Women over 40” (as I’m closer to 47 – ha!), I started seeing your lovely pins…. which ended up in subscribing to your blog… which ended up in total inspiration to work on jazzing up that mediocre, drab wardrobe. I want my outside to match my God-given bubbly & fun inside! Thank you & God bless! <3
I was literally just looking yesterday at the blush Tommy Hilfiger dress you linked to at Macys! I love the grommet look and was thinking it would be nice for a wedding I may be attending later this summer. I love navy and this dress looks great on you.
Those kind of hand me downs are the best—they are still in style & are free!!! A lot to times when I go through my mom’s closet (the 70+ model on my blog–I’ll tell her that things look better on me, so she’ll give them to me–LOL!!

Great stories about your niece, what a fun kid!

Oh I completely understand your sisters comment about how some styles make you look when you are short with a big bust. Sometimes I feel like they look like maternity clothes. I have kept a journal of cute sayings that my grandchildren have said. Last weekend when I picked up my 3 year old granddaughter, she said, “Grammy, I got up way to old this morning so I am tired”. Love it!
So funny!!! These kids, where do they get it???
Hahaha! ? Your niece is a RIOT!! She’s not going to have any trouble taking care of herself, that’s for sure! She’s a smart one! Love the dress and it looks great on you!
Cute dress and sandals and everything! I have a granddaughter just like your niece. You never know what she is going to say next! Have a fabulous day!
I just bought that same dress. It is so comfortable and for the price you can’t beat it. Love it!
Your niece sounds like me. As a child I used to say what popped in my head. Needless to say mom used to cringe. lol. Thank goodness I learned control as I grew up. I love the navy on you! Such a classic.
My mom said that when we were all young she used to cringe too. I guess that is part of being a mom. LOL!
Love this dress and the whole outfit! Your story about your niece is classic! So funny! Blessings!
She is a 35-year-old trapped in a 6-year-old body. Lol!
I love the bag, I know its non branded but is it available anywhere? It looks perfect for my holiday!
Pamela, I have never seen the purse anywhere else and there was just the one when I bought it last year.
Thanks for letting me know, love this blog. It’s the one that ‘fits’ me best. Have a great day from Scotland!
I saw a bag very similar to it at Stein Mart just the other day. I am in Las Vegas.
Thanks, I’ll have a look online and see what they have.xx
