FLORALS AND PALE PINK
I feel like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz this morning, “There’s no place like home!” I now need a vacation to rest up from being away from home but I know that my work is going to be piled high on my desk. Ugggh! I don’t even want to think about how far behind I am going to be. I will be sharing a lot of pictures on the blog this week that were taken in San Diego. The settings are gorgeous but we were so rushed for time that most of my pictures were taken after we had been in sessions all day and my hair looks like crap and my makeup might not still look its best. I am giving you the heads up now so that you don’t look at my pictures and think, “What in the world has happened to Tania?” Lol!
Let me just get something off my chest right now. Somebody go get me a soapbox! Age discrimination is alive and well these days!!! I was attending a social media conference while I was in San Diego. I know that most people consider “social media” a younger person’s arena but that doesn’t mean that just because I am over 50 that I don’t have insights or value. You could sit and watch how people would gravitate to the younger, prettier people. They would engage them in conversations and completely ignore me. I started to get amused as I watched how all this unfolded. I was sitting at a blogger table and there was only 3 of us at the table at that time. The one lady got up and moved her chair to sit beside the younger girl and started up a conversation. They talked for about 10 minutes never once asking me anything. The one girl didn’t even have a blog, she was just interested in starting one up. The lady that moved her chair wanted to work with bloggers, she wanted to represent them for campaigns. FINALLY, after almost 15 minutes was up, the lady looked at me and said, “would you like to join in the conversation?” Sweetly I talked with them for a few minutes. Soon they came to the realization that I had a blog, I knew what I was doing, and that they could learn from me. By that time I was not having any of that! It might have been mean, and I was probably supposed to turn the other cheek, but instead I simply got up and left the table. The sad thing is that they probably didn’t learn a lesson from that at all.
This was our first night in San Diego and we went to Cardiff by the Sea to eat. I wanted to wear something nice but still look casual and beachy. I love this off the shoulder top for this type occasion. I am not a huge fan of the off the shoulder look only because every time I raise my arms the top goes back up onto the shoulder. I feel like I spend all day pulling it back down and adjusting. I know I could wear it up on the shoulders but it isn’t near as cute that way and after all, we do want to be cute. Haha! Florals are almost always a look for spring. The variety of pinks in the flowers really pop off the dark navy of the top. The lace inserts and the high/low sleeve design are two more unique features that make this top a winner.
I have a pink large rhinestone jewelry set on from Plunder. Once again I held off ordering this set because I was just sure that I wouldn’t like it. I thought the stones were too big and that it would be gaudy. Nope!!! I really like it. I am just going to have to quit even trying to pick out things I like and instead start throwing darts to see what I order. The Sherry Renea necklace is adjustable and I am wearing it at the longest setting. I would also look fabulous worn shorter. The matching earrings are not showing up in the catalog right now. That might mean they are out of stock or it might mean that they are retiring, I don’t know yet. The Mary Alice bracelet is still in stock, though. I also wore a couple of smaller magnetic rhinestone bracelets on my other hand. The Broedrick is the opaque pink one and the Flynn is the iridescent one in purples. This is the last week to take advantage of a15% off discount check from me for every over $50.00 (excluding tax and shipping). New party ALERT!!! I closed my last party and opened a new one. I bet you can guess what the name is….www.plunderdesign.com/party/tania5
I thought you might like to see a picture of my sister and me. As you can tell the sun was right in our eyes. When we would try to move so the sun wasn’t blinding us our faces were in the shadows. I was smart and shielded my eyes, sis just squinted. Lol! It looks like we coordinated our outfits but it was just a coincidence. Lol! I had to make her put on a necklace, I am the jewelry person, not her.
While I was trying not to fall in the sand my sister was busily taking my pictures with her new iPhone 7. The quality of the pictures is crazy. All my pictures this week were taken with her phone. My pants are the palest pink. These are a pair of pixie pants from Old Navy. This pair is the chino cotton style so I bought my normal size. When I buy the stretchy knit version I will size up because they fit so tight.
My navy Tommy Hilfiger sandals were perfect for walking along the beach. These ended up being the shoes I wore most of the week. You have to realize that outfits and jewelry I wear while I am away might not look the same as I would wear if I was at home. You are limited to home many shoes, purses, etc., that you can pack. In other words, you just have to make do with what you brought. Lol!
They might have dismissed me for being older when it came to social media but they paid attention when it came to eyelashes. I had about three women interrupt the conversation to ask me about my eyelashes. Lol!!! It is crazy that they are noticed that much. I was riding down the elevator with a younger woman who had on fake lashes, you can spot them a mile off, and she was very impressed that my lashes were real. If you want to be accosted by complete strangers (and who doesn’t) then order Lash Boost. Lol! Message me for details.

Tania, I’m sorry they treated you so rudely, there is no excuse for that! I went back to college at 54! I’ve graduated now, but I’ve never felt so invisible, yet, like I stood out, at the same time! Once my classmates got to know me, though, it was great! Love, love, love your outfits!
Sorry, just saw the response about where you purchased the top. That will teach me to not read all the responses…LOL..
Love that top. Where did you get it? I want to tell you that I started using the Lash boost on February 18th and I am noticing a difference. My lashes are getting thicker, longer and darker. I now dont feel so self conscious without mascara. I just give them a curl and theyre good to go when I’m just running around. Thank you so much for introducing me to Lash Boost. The pic of you and Sis is great.
What an adorable outfit on such a rockin’ young looking, smart, saavy girl! But I KNOW the feeling of being passed by because you aren’t 20 something! Still, you got them all back w/your style & your L O N G eyelashes!
Your outfit stayll is my faivoret you are soooo cuit and elegant and giveing me always a verey good ideas .
Gigi, I am thrilled to hear that you are finding inspiration from my blog!!! That is my goal, to help others to be able to find items in their own closet and see different ways to wear them.
I often feel invisible around younger folks. Not sure why they don’t value us, but it’s their loss! I always try to engage the younger folks, but most simply ignore me. Odd. When I was younger, I always wanted to hear what my elders thought, their experiences, etc. Those inattentive ones are the worse for it, for sure!
It’s a shame you were treated so rudely! Hopefully, when these young women are in a situation like that again they won’t make the same mistake again. Changing the subject your photos and outfit are fabulous! Navy and pink is one of my favorite color combinations and I just love that top. It’s too bad you purchased it at a local boutique and it’s sold out or else I’d be snapping it up immediately.
You look awesome I had a similar outfit for my 52 bday and yes it’s a pain that the blouse sleeve goes up when I raise my arm makes me nuts! Now those two ladies deserve what they got I do believe a lesson was learned . DO NOT JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER! You are a lovely book cover okay! And you have tons of new info on blogging because you are so new at it , and successful too,Hopefully next time these ignorant woman are in a conference they will be more open minded it was there lost not yours!?
I’ve seen lots of others ask the same question but haven’t seen your answer. Maybe I missed it but where did you get the beautiful floral top?
The floral top is by Tassels N Lace. I bought it at a local boutique but they don’t have anymore, that is why I linked to similar ones.
Thank you!!
Love your top. Where did it come from????
Elaine, it was from a local boutique but they are sold out, that is why I linked to similar ones.
Thank you. I was in a Macies yesterday. They didn’t have any off the shoulder tops and only one or two cold shoulder. Guess it’s too cold here in Minnesota.
Have a great day.
Had to skip past the other comments before my tablet goes dead. Girl you are rocking that pink outfit it is you, you, you. Your sister is the cat’s meow in her top as well. Know what you mean about being noticed at our age oh well their loss, Their day will come ha ha… Any how glad you had a good trip and some fun to boot glad your sister was with you. Bet Joe and the little ones are glad to have you home. Gotta run for now will be looking for more pics of San Diego….
I love that you can wear an off the shoulder top but would not feel comfortable in one myself. You do look great! But I could wear a top like your sister is wearing. Any details on it? Am getting closer to trying the Lash Boost and the other skin care items. Just not sure I can afford to at this point. Drat!
I think her top was from Ann Taylor. I seem to remember her doing a little shopping before we left.
You and Lisa look great!! Twins????
Oh my gosh! You are hilarious. Seriously, just because we have crossed over to 50 doesn’t mean we don’t get it….or, are only on Facebook (which is for “old people” now, in case you hadn’t heard…LOL). On the flip side, I get very frustrated with my peers at work who won’t embrace technology b/c they think they’re too old, close to retirement, etc.
I love, love, love this pink & floral outfit. I think you look amazing. Don’t you just love San Diego? I have a cousin who is a professor there.
Tania, both you and your sister look Great! Boy can you tell the resemblance. Nice and refreshing to see you both at the beach with the wind blowing in your hair. Makes one feel alive.
Unfortunately, the other two women displayed very poor manners and were rude via exclusion. Their loss, and you know your worth as we do!! ? just love your blog, so keep up the good work and fashion.
Really pretty outfit! Where is the top from? I live in California and can attest that we are not *all* like those you experienced on your trip. I am sorry that happened. I would probably handle it the same way. I would even say there is a difference between Nor Cal and So Cal “behavior ” or mindset. Nonetheless, age discrimination is every where in this country. We just all need to do our best to disqualify it ! Keep on keepin’ on girl!
Lynn, there are always going to be people like that, I just happened to find two at the same table. Lol!
Love that top and those pink pants. I use double-sided fashion tape to keep my off the shoulder tops in place. Works like a charm!
Hi there, This video sloved my problem with off the shoulder tops riding up!

Great outfit on you and your sister, And you could tell, she was your sister, straight away. Looks beautiful at that beach, but I am going to take a mountain break instead.
I can’t wait and I already have my plunder jewelry ready to go with several outfits… LOL Have a great day!!
Love this top! As everyone is asking, where did you get it? I work with a group of young ones too. It is hard sometimes when they get all of the attention. But I am learning when anyone wants to know an important question, they ask the older ones.
I’m sorry those women were mean/rude to you! I don’t blame you for getting up and walking away. Age discrimination is definitely alive! So sad too!
You look beautiful in these pictures, and the you got to put your toes in the sand! I love the beach!!
I’m so glad to hear you confirm floral for spring/summer. I just heard a stylist the other day saying that we won’t be seeing floral around this year, and I was deeply disappointed. So, thanks for making my day.
Tania I just love your blog. I am a 66 year old grandmother who still enjoys life and likes to be fashionable. Your pictures inspire me on new ideas working from my closet. I have also purchased some of the fun clothing you model! Thank you for your positive roll model to “stay young” and active! Love, love, love your blog!
Ilove the outfits on you and your sister, love the pink pants, that must be the in colour Jennifer from A Well Styled Life is wearing similar.
Please send me info on the lash boost. I have admired your eyelashes since I started reading your blog!
Great looking outfit. Always love your Plunder jewelry.
I just have to ask…what kind of bra are you wearing? I can’t find one that still “holds” things up and in place for this type of shirt. And I do like them so much. I am just a normal size, 36C. Any brands that are recommended? Thanks so much!
I’m glad you blew those two people off! Good for you. Loving this outfit
Love your outfit and the wind blowing in your hair. Looks like you and your sister had fun!
Love the blouse all the outfit you both look great!
Cute outfit! I have experienced what I call “invisibility.” It can make you feel like a second class citizen. You know your worth and WE know your worth, so just gotta let it go!
I would love to know where the adorable top came from… you both look amazing!
I love your outfit! I agree that age discrimination is alive and well but you are a beautiful woman and had lots of helpful info they could have heard… their loss! I love your blog as I am a fashion fiend also! Lol keep up the good work!
I have read your post twice and still can not find where you purchased the cute floral top! Do tell!
Tania, would love to hear more about your “Lash Boost” that you are using…..So glad you got a compliment on your nice look. The ‘age discrimination thing’: Yes, it’s alive and well, for certain, and a sad byproduct of our “youth worship’ culture in the USA. I must share with you that this is not the same in the UK or on the continent in Europe…Lovely women are deemed interesting at any age, but….Not here in America….Well, hopefully things can change, but it will take time. Thank you very much for info. on your successful Lash Boost, and yes: I can spot the (expensive) ‘applied lashes’ that my nieces wear, and ….Well, they look so ‘fake’ and are very expensive. Best from Suzanne
Love the outfit – you look great!
You look SOOOO cute! I love this outfit!
Age discrimination isn’t just in the blogging world. In the corporate world they want the young up and comers because they think they offer fresh ideas – but they have no experience whatsoever so their ideas can’t go anywhere because they don’t know how to present them, etc. It’s so aggravating. I have nothing against the younger generation – we need them – just like they need us. But I will just never understand why people can’t figure out that if we work TOGETHER – my what we can accomplish! Okay … now I’m off my soap box. LOL.
I hope you get a little rest – don’t overdo it. 😉
Blessings …
Love the outfit! Its been years since I was in San Diego and would love to go back 🙂 I feel your pain about the age part…I am currently unemployed and it seems alot harder to get a position being over 50…they all want the younger people but where does experience come into play?? I probably would have done the same thing you did once they were interested in what you had say, but I probably would have torn a strip off them before I got up and left!
Love the outfit, Very fitting for the beach!! As for the younger Women, I would have done the same thing LOL.. Hope you came home with alot of info for your blogging!!
Love the outfit and the pic with your sister…y’all sure look alike!
I love your blouse! I saw where you listed similar ones available but not where you purchased yours. Can you tell us where where you got it. Love the look!
Hi Tania –
You always look great! I love reading your blog everyday, it helps me shop my closet and always try to look my best. I certainly know what you mean about folks discounting a person of our age.
I am interested in the lash boost. Can you tell me how to order, please.
Thank you,
Sandy
Love this outfit. I adore the pixie pants on you but…..they fit me but having larger thigh are not flattering. You are blessed with a cute figure. ??
I just love your spirit Tania! Be yourself and trust yourself are always good words to live by…we all need to be our own advocate in life and stop feeling bad about it! Love the blouse and the navy shoes! I am on a mission to find me some cute navy sandals today…<3!
Beautiful girls you two!!! Learning so much from you!
Dear Tania,
I am a new follower of yours, and maybe, just maybe, these young women you mentioned havent been brought up well, i was taught to be curteous and respectful to someone older than myself. I sometimes am appalled by the lack of respect this younger generation has for older people, I will be 74 in April and still feel 50. Love your style and attitude!
I love your outfit, I’m crazy for that pale pink color! Your comments about hair and makeup made me laugh, because isn’t that just California in a nutshell? 😉
What a gorgeous setting for these photos….natural beauty, just like you. I was nodding in agreement as I read your comments about your experiences with “age discrimination”. I had a similar experience last week at our annual Institute where at times I felt like an invisible woman in a room with a lot of very young, inexperienced girls in miniskirts / mini dresses. I just continued to “put myself out there” and be the one making the effort to get involved. However, they did end up gravitating to me when they needed assistance or advice. I also found out that they were shocked to discover that I was as old as I am (I tell them I am “pushing 70″….it is my next major milestone…and I refuse to dress or act like it!). Glad you made it home safe and sound!
That’s very disappointing that age discrimination is around. I guess I don’t see it much because I hang out with older women—ha ha! But especially at a blogger event—there should be the realization that us boomers do blog!!
That’s craziness!!
I just got my first off the shoulder shirt and wore it on the blog yesterday. I can’t get my mom or step mom interested yet in this new trend. Any suggestions on how to get them wanting to wear them??

Pretty outfit. Sorry you got the brush off, their loss. I see it happen all the time. Fact of life. But hard to take at times.
I see the tops from Macy’s that you suggest. I like the top you are wearing. Is it from Macy’s, too?
I think you look great in this! Yes, age discrimination is alive and well! I guess some of that is to be expected. My approach is to teach people we all have something to offer and that we won’t be dismissed. I live in Canada where a third of our population are baby boomers, in fact, we have the third oldest population in the world. Guess who has the power?!
From one over 50 year old to another, you go girl! Great looking outfit and scenery.
Love the look Tania, off the shoulder blouses drive me crazy too and you sisters looked gorgeous. I could go on for a while about discrimination and how anyone over 40 is ancient until they are sitting across from you trying to get a job! Have a great day!
I think you look GREAT- hair included! That’s called beach hair back my way (MA/ Cape Cod).
I have a great book for you for that invisible feeling-“Calling Invisible Women”. Loved it!
Keep doing what you’re doing. I find it a ray of sunshine each day!
Adorable pic with your sister Tania!!! Your floral top is beautiful with the pale pink pixie pants. I just bought a blush color pair of ankle pants. There are many styling options to mix them with for spring and summer. Those ladies do not realize the wisdom they can learn from us experienced women ?. ~Lisa~
Love this outfit and the beach photos. Thank you for being an inspiration for us “over 50” women who still want to dress fashionably.
My boyfriend and I run our own business, a language school for adults in Austria, where I’ve been living for the last 17 years (after spending most of my life in Texas). We work with a team of teachers who are in their 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and even 60’s. I have a lot of experience in this business and can honestly say that I appreciate having such an age range amongst our staff – no age discrimination here!
Gorgeous outfit Tania that shade of pink really suits you and the background of the beach and blue sky makes me long for my holidays ??
You both look gorgeous! I would take either one of your outfits!
Hi Tania,
You look so feminin, and so does your sister. I love just showed your blog to my friend/work colleague, she was very interested in your blog and your fashion sense. I think you have another follower. I also really liked your blue
lace dress from yesterday, I had a lovely time looking at the Chadwick’s of Boston fashion.
Your blog is great, the other ladies, missed out on learning from you! Cheers, Tracey
Wow Tania such a beautiful setting. Love your top and your sister looks just like you. When I first saw the photo I thought it was two of you – hahaha.
I’ve posted another Milan Fashion Week post today – always good to be aware of the coming trends for the next season;-) You might like it – smile! http://funkyforty.com/10-best-from-kristina-ti-milan-fashion-week-fall-2017/
LOL Yvonne
Your outfit is so cute and perfect for the beach. As far as the women snubbing you, it was definitely their loss. I love the picture of you and your sister. You gurls are so darn cute!
Hi looking fab as usual – I have a similar top so will be bringing it out of the wardrobe – I love the colour of
Lipstick you are wearing can I ask
The make and colour – thanks Cathy from
Scotland x
You’ve embrace the California vibe quite well. The photos are great (I’m dying to get a 7 just for the camera). So sad about the brush offs you got but that seems to be par the course these days with the younger set. I’m looking forward to reading more on the details of the conference.

What a cute beachy outfit you are wearing. The floral top is so cute ~ what brand is it and where did you purcahse?
Macy’s?? Pic of you and your sister is adorable and glad to see her finally! Happy home-coming :))
