FIRST ATTEMPT IN LEARNING
I recently started reading another devotional by Mark Batterson called, Chase The Lion. When someone recommended this book to me I was intrigued but when I found out that it was by Mark Batterson I immediately downloaded it to my laptop. His books are so inspiring in a “get up off of your butt and do something” kind of way. So far this book has not disappointed me.
In the first couple of chapters, he talks about Orville and Wilbur Wright. Orville had become sick and was stuck in bed for a long period of time. Wilbur read to Orville while he was sick and the book he chose was the mechanism of bird flight. Wilbur had become interested in the how of flight and he was passing on this interest to Orville. I can not even begin to imagine how they even thought it was possible for a man to fly but I am glad they didn’t let the impossible get in the way of the possible.
They had a dream. A dream that most of us would have told them was silly and would never happen. They had a dream and in spite of no real knowledge or experience, they persevered. They were not afraid to fail which was a good thing because they failed a lot. The failed so many times I am sure they probably lost count. But one day in 1903, for all of 12 seconds, the little airplane took flight.
What if they hadn’t dreamed? What if they had been afraid to fail? The same holds true of Christopher Columbus, and many others who chased their dreams in spite of the failures that would come. I know the Lord has great things in store for you and me. I know He wants us to step outside of our comfort zones and try new things. I also know that we will have failures but the ones who learn from those failures are the ones who learn to fly.
Do you have a dream? Have you let fear or apathy keep you from achieving what you were created for?
Ephesians 2:10 says,
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
What has God prepared you for? Do not stop dreaming, do not stop trying, and do not stop failing. First Attempt In Learning.
Have A Blessed Day!
Thank you again Tania for your inspirationa Sunday messages ✝❤️✝
I so agree with Carol C about we fear … Fear because we do t have enough faith in God .
I hope you have a blessed week Tania & we can help ourselves and others as we share what our ” fears ” are & how to strengthen our faith.

Thank you for your inspiration today Tania! I can’t wait to read this book. We all need to be reminded to follow our dreams? Enjoy your Sunday and God Bless
I echo everyone’s comments – this is my favourite Sunday blog posting so far. As if you were speaking directly to me. Thank you I’m now going to download that book!?
Tania, I just have to tell you that you are just so good at this! Your Sunday messages are the very, very best. Thank you for your hard work!!! It really means something to me and to a lot of others.
Perfect timing for me with this post, Tania. I’m stepping very far out of my comfort zone on two fronts. I’m venturing into new territory in my retirement. I’ve felt confident, mostly, but yesterday I had doubts. I know with God’s help I can, I will, succeed. Thank you for this timely message.
Great message-love, love your blog. Never miss reading it. Thankful you had the courage to start writing it. Have blessed Sunday!
Yes…I say WOW too!! Great message to start my day and the week off on the right foot!! I’m starting something new and will keep this in the forefront of my mind. I feel God’s love and support in your writing. Thank you for this timely message. Blessings. ??❤️
I love your blog during the week with all your cute outfits-which has given me a lot of inspiration for dressing more fun-but your Sunday ones speak to my heart.
Thanks for your posts relative to fear. I believe that fear is a lack of faith in the Good Lord, and has a basis in our pride. Fear has come up many times in my senior ladies Sunday School class; fear of flying, fear of needles, fear of snakes, mice and so forth. I have never been a fearful person, (my husband would tell you that there’s not much that I wouldn’t attempt.). and I’m headed toward the big 70 mark. If I believe that I am a child of God and I am. If I believe that the Bible is the true word of God, and I do – then why would i fear anything. He plainly tells me that he will be with me, and will take care of me, no matter what. Just my thought this morning as I head out to worship!!!!
Amen!
WOW!!! Thank you for this much needed reminder not to give up on your dreams. This book sounds very encouraging. Have a fabulous Sunday!!! ~Lisa~
