FIRST ATTEMPT IN LEARNING

I recently started reading another devotional by Mark Batterson called, Chase The Lion. When someone recommended this book to me I was intrigued but when I found out that it was by Mark Batterson I immediately downloaded it to my laptop. His books are so inspiring in a “get up off of your butt and do something” kind of way. So far this book has not disappointed me.
In the first couple of chapters, he talks about Orville and Wilbur Wright. Orville had become sick and was stuck in bed for a long period of time. Wilbur read to Orville while he was sick and the book he chose was the mechanism of bird flight. Wilbur had become interested in the how of flight and he was passing on this interest to Orville. I can not even begin to imagine how they even thought it was possible for a man to fly but I am glad they didn’t let the impossible get in the way of the possible.
They had a dream. A dream that most of us would have told them was silly and would never happen. They had a dream and in spite of no real knowledge or experience, they persevered. They were not afraid to fail which was a good thing because they failed a lot. The failed so many times I am sure they probably lost count. But one day in 1903, for all of 12 seconds, the little airplane took flight.
What if they hadn’t dreamed? What if they had been afraid to fail? The same holds true of Christopher Columbus, and many others who chased their dreams in spite of the failures that would come. I know the Lord has great things in store for you and me. I know He wants us to step outside of our comfort zones and try new things. I also know that we will have failures but the ones who learn from those failures are the ones who learn to fly.
Do you have a dream? Have you let fear or apathy keep you from achieving what you were created for?
Ephesians 2:10 says,
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
What has God prepared you for? Do not stop dreaming, do not stop trying, and do not stop failing. First Attempt In Learning.
Have A Blessed Day!
Thanks for this post. I, too, have not attempted some of my dreams because of the fear of failure. This message was one I needed to hear, and I love the F.A.I.L. acronym! I’ve also put Batterson’s book on my reading list.
Very inspiring. I enjoy and look forward each day to see not only what outfit you have on, but love reading your blog.
I do not even know how I came across your blog, but I am happy I have. Thanks for your real thoughts and the fact that you can laugh at yourself is so healthy and the fact that you are able to share your life and its challenges with your readers is great!
Thanks for being so real. I enjoy that the most!

Aww, thanks, Kim. I am a firm believer in not taking yourself too seriously. I laugh at myself before others have the chance to laugh at me. Lol!
This spoke to me on so many levels, thank you.

Hello! I do love to read your Sunday messages! I accidentally deleted what we had discussed the other day! I checked the spam section and accidentally deleted everything! I will learn how not to do that! But I didn’t see any of your posts so I don’t know what I did! I’ll have to find a kid to show me! Have a great day, Tania!
Tania, your message to us today is perfect timing. His timing is always perfect. I love the FAIL. I appreciate you and your blog. Look forward to it everyday.
And all His daughters said… “AMEN!!”
I feel like I live in fear of just about everything…This blog reminded me that God is in control! Ephesians 2:10, is exactly what I needed to see! Thank you, Tania!
