EVEN THE BEST OF FRIENDS FIGHT
I know right about now, Sandy and Bertha are reading this and thinking, “aw, crap.” Lol! You would think after you reach a certain age, and I am well passed that age, that you would not fight with your best friends. WRONG! I have found out that even the best of friends fight.
Sandy, Bertha, and I all work together, travel together, and play together. We are often referred to as the three musketeers in some of our woman’s club circuits. And, like the sisters that we are, we squabble often, sometimes daily. We have had some of our regular customers (we are a small town and we all know each other), laugh when start squabbling and ask, “are you going to have words before you fight?” We make-up just as fast as we fight though.
Remember the yard sale I said our woman’s club was having on Saturday to raise money for Hope For The Hungry? We all showed up and had a good time, despite the heat AND the humidity, and raised over 400.00 for the event. I got busy folding clothes and waiting on customers, and when I looked up, Sandy and Bertha were no longer there. I thought they had walked next door to another yard sale, so I went over to check out the sale. I passed by Bertha’s car, but Sandy’s was nowhere to be found. Figuring out that they were gone, I texted and called both of them. No answer, so 30 minutes later I tried again. Once they answered, they said they had gone down the road to see more yard sales, etc. WHAT!!! They went “shopping” without me. If they had gone to get food, or to find a bathroom, I would not have gotten mad. BUT, going shopping without me is just wrong!
Summer is now in full force here in Southwestern Virginia, and it is finally sleeveless weather. Even if it is 90 degrees outside, I will keep a sweater or light jacket in my car just in case I get cold. I bought this cute little embroidered top a couple years ago at Lucky. I love red and white together, I think it is a classic combination.

I can’t believe that I used to never wear white pants or shorts. I probably only really started wearing white pants about 5 – 7 years ago. I know, that is hard to believe! To me, white just screams SUMMER, and I can’t imagine not wearing it now. Haha These ankle pants came from Van Heusen a year or so ago. If you don’t currently have white in your wardrobe, go buy a pair now.
My wedge shoes are Aerosoles, that I bought this year at TJ Maxx. I like that they zip, it makes putting them on so much easier. The Aerosole brand is extremely comfortable, and they have a lot of padding. A wedge style is one of the easier high heels to wear.

I love this outfit!!! I really enjoy your blog as well. Friends are everything in life. I have a question, do you think 50+ is to old to wear anything tie dye? Do you own anything tie dye that you would wear in public? It is such a trend this summer but I am thinking I am too old for it.
You are NOT too old!!! I have been looking for something tie-dyed, but I just haven’t found the right item.
I don’t have any sisters or even first cousins, but what I do have are 8 very close friends (Friends Since Birth) whom I love dearly and cannot imagine my life without them. We are all between 68 and 70 years old and grew up together (our mothers were friends before they married our dads!). We all live in Texas in different parts of the state; however, we have “slumber parties” once or twice per year to decompress from our daily lives and catch up with what’s been going on. Love these gurls!

My BFF and I don’t argue. She’ll tell you it’s because I avoid confrontation. The closest we came was at the beach years ago. We shared a room and a fan. I wanted the fan on all night and she didn’t. We made a rule that whoever was awake controlled the fan. When I got up, I would turn it on. Then when she woke up, she would turn it off. That’s how it went all week.

What a fabulous top. Love the color and style. I too only started wearing white a few years ago (I found out about oxyclean!). It’s sleeveless and shorter pants here in Florida too (sitting outside with dog and coffee and the temp is already 84). I know you realize how truly blessed you are to not only have a birth sister but besty sisters. Funny story though. Love the shoes. Every summer I try to find white ones but they seem to always look wierd on my feet. Thank for your faithfulness to writing this, I appreciate the work involved, and so look forward to reading it. You are so lucky to have best friends that have continued their friendship through the years. I have a bestie at work and we try to get together when we can. But to be perfectly honest my sister Janet is my best friend. We share daily talks and encouragement all through life’s ups and down. Her faith is tremendous when mine wavers. She lives so far away that I see her maybe twice a year. So no time for fights. Love her dearly as you must love these friends like a sisters. I am best friends with my sister also. We talk daily, at least once. She lives in Georgia, so I don’t see her but 3 or 4 times a year. Yes I use a self-tanner. Read this post for all the info.
