How Do You Dress on Saturdays?
I have had several readers ask me, “How do you dress on Saturdays”? I usually dress pretty casually on Saturday. I don’t go into to work on Saturday, so it is more a errand and catch-up day. I want to be dressed nice enough that I can run to the grocery store or answer the door should someone come see us.
I have on just a plain basic white t-shirt. This is a woman’s fitted shirt, so it fits closer to my body. I prefer a close-fitting shirt, as long as it is not tight, because it makes you look thinner. I used to think that a baggier shirt would hide my lumps and bumps and make me look smaller. But in reality, I just looked wider because of the shirt.
This bright aqua blue zip sweater hoodie is ages old. I bought it years ago in three different colors. I liked it that much. It is super soft like cashmere, but it’s not. I bought them from Old Navy, but I like this one from Eddie Bauer.
This is what I look like most days. If you come to the lumber company, you will see me sitting at my desk with a pair of reading glasses on. I am near-sighted, but I wear contacts to help me see in the distance. After I hit 43, I started noticing that I couldn’t see up close. The kicker is, if I take out my contacts, I can see great up-close. Of course, then I can’t see far off. Either way I end up having to wear a pair of glasses.
How do you like my footwear choice? This is one of about 4 different pair of house shoes I wear on a regular basis. This pair I bought last year at the craft fair I organize, and they are from Vera Bradley. They are soft, warm, and cute. A trifecta!
I think I am zipper challenged. I have my camera set on a timer to take my picture. It will take 5 shots at a time, then I go and set it again to take 5 more. Usually that is all I take, and then head off to work. Today it took me so long to zip the hoodie, I had several shots that looked like this. Haha I had to set it for another 5 shots. Lol!
Finally, mission accomplished! Don’t I look proud of myself. Haha No jewelry, very little makeup, and no purse, that’s how I roll on Saturday. The first thing I do when I come home in the afternoons is yank off my jewelry. Then I usually go and take off my bra, but I spared you that look. Was that TMI? So, this is me on Saturday, how do you dress?
You might have noticed a new design to the website. I hope you like the new look, and that you are able to navigate its features easily. The comment section is at the very end of the post, so keep scrolling. I look forward to reading all the comments, they make my day.

I think I have pinned every outfit I’ve seen you in!!! except for the dresses and skirts, you look so amazing in them but my legs are best left covered!! I’m a jeans kinda girl so I love how put together your outfits are with the jeans! I’ve saved almost everyone of them and now I find myself shopping on line and going to my fav resale shop looking for similar items!! I’m addicted!! Finally someone in my age group and similar body shape to inspire me!!! Thanks, I love your style and your hair!!!!!
Great seeing such a practical post. I’m so casual on a Saturday i daren’t IG it. I have same eyesight issues and gave up contacts for that reason. In contacts I have wear glasses in a restaurant to read a menu or see my food. At a function I can’t see people’s name tags.
Saturdays are comfy and casual; I wear leggings and long slouchy sweaters, I would never wear leggings in public tho! I even had to change into something “not awful” before taking my husband to the emergency room one Saturday!
Love you style, sense of humor and blog. One of the ladies that follows Fashion for women Hoover 40 shared it. Awesome and enjoyable.
I am so glad your friend shared. Now it is your time to share with someone. Lol! Word of mouth is the best compliment.?
I always ditch the bra first thing when I get in from the office in the evenings. Isn’t that what we’re supposed to do?!?!?!?
I just love your style! You rock it! Love it that the fashions are affordable and stylish. Also love your hair and your skin is so beautiful. You’ll have to share your beauty routine. Just curious, where did you get the white tee and jeans from your January 23rd photo?
Mariana thanks for all your kind words. My beauty and hair routine is pitiful. I thought about doing a video, but I figured it would be a huge disappointment. Maybe down the road. The t-shirt is old, but you can still purchase one (and on sale) from Old Navy http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1036154&vid=1&pid=810130242 and the jeans are from Old Navy also, I think these are the ones. (they are on sale also) http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=85732&vid=1&pid=141909002
So cute! I completely agree with you about the fitted shirts. In fact, I don’t quite understand why so many women our age wear large flowy things every single day. We still have curves! Honestly, I dress this way almost every day because I don’t work outside the home now.
Hi Tania. I stumbled upon your blog about a month ago and I really enjoy it so much. Your personality just shines through! I love how you keep it real are never pretentious. Lately some blogs seem to be getting very “Pinterest-y.”Like….everyone is all the same? You know? You seem like a very confident , independent person and I love that! I’m not quite 50 but its coming soon. Thanks for giving me a fun, informative site to visit each day!
Wow, Jodi, that is quite a compliment! Thank you so much:)
I’m right with you, Tania, on losing the jewelry and bra as soon as I get home! Your blog is so fun and you always look great! I agree about the Vera purses. I have a gifted tote and a mini crossbody that I use in the summer for errands and I may have to check out the house shoes. And in TX, it’s always a Coke, too, unless it’s a Dr Pepper!
You look darling! That’s my retired attire most days!! I’m in California this weekend visiting family… So its shopping, babysitting and movies, and wine!!
Shopping, babysitting, movies, and wine sounds fabulous!!! I still want to see Montana one day:)
Oh my gosh, the house shoes are just darling and lend a whimsical touch to your Saturday outfit! I just love it! Tell me, do you ever forget that you’re wearing house shoes and make a quick trip to the store? (hee hee)
That would be hilarious, Kimberly. Are you speaking from experience? Lol! 🙂
I found it very interesting that some gals call those “house shoes” and others call them “slippers.” So I guess depending on what part of the country you are from, there are different terms even for clothing. Just curious . . . do you call it soda, a soft drink or pop where you are from? It is bright, sunny and beautiful here today—almost like spring and it won’t be terribly cold this week so I can probably just wear ponchos or blazers instead of a coat. Too bad you are on that “financial diet.” I have found some incredible bargains at Talbots. The markdowns were 60-70% off. I can’t go out of the house even on Saturday without looking good. I ALWAYS run into someone I know especially former students or someone from Bible Study or church. Well, enjoy your snow. My grandkids are sooooooo disappointed they will not get any snow days!
Your killing me Sharon….60 – 70% off!!! I’m not even going to look. And BTW, it is just a Coke. You say “will you get me a Coke”, and they will say, “what do you want”. Then you tell them the brand. Hahaha
A casual Saturday look looks great on you! I love those Vera Bradley house shoes. Very pretty!! How much snow do you have? We have 6-12 inches in my neck of the woods depending on where we measure.
Debbie, we probably have around 6 inches. I am sure the areas surrounding me have more. Where I live usually get the least amount of snowfall. Stay warm, I am off to build a fire in the fireplace.????
Where is the SNOW????
Love your blog and your outfits! This is basically how I dress on Saturdays too (although I do dress up on Saturday evenings since my husband I have “date night.”) I finally learned that tip about buying t shirts that are more fitted rather than boxy-it really does make us look slimmer. You are looking so cute and chic!
A date night sounds awesome, Cindy!!!
You look as nice as always. Love your blog. Enjoy your Saturday 🙂
I’m so thrilled to find your blog. I ADORE every post! Finally, someone who shops similarly (i like what I like, whether from Nordstrom or Target…..or a garage sale. You’re outfits are so inspiring, and have given me re-newed excitement! Thanks for sharing your style!
A new fan,
Mary (have a great w/e)
That’s how I feel Mary. I don’t care where I buy something from, the mall, a yard sale, a thrift store, or Old Navy. If I like it, I will buy it. I am terrible it someone says they like my top, or whatever, to say, “Oh, thanks, I go this at a ___________”. He wonders why I can’t just say “thank you”. Lol!
Good Morning Tania! Looking very “put-together Saturday”! I totally agree about the fitting of the tee-shirt, although I am too tempted to wear a baggy one most times (at the cost of being not flattering whatsoever! ha!). – Your weight loss is showing, Gurl! You’re very motivating! – I’m having sun-snow showers this morning here in the midlands of SC, with a good skiff on the deck already. – (BTW,I too am a Mrs. Magoo)
Oh Tania- here I sit at 10:00 + in my PJ’s (coffee in hand) on a Saturday- I aspire to your jeans & T outfit by high noon!
Love how you keep it real though!! 🙂
Thanks Jules! There are days when I wish I was dressed by noon. Haha
You are looking really thin….you go girl!
Tania you crack me up. I can’t wait to get my bra off when I get home too! Darn those things…
I really have enjoy your site and getting an email has been fun. It’s nice seeing a “mature” lady be so fashionable;) just a shout out ” I love your style!!!!”
Blessing to ya;)
Skeeter crouch
You look cute and comfy! Thanks for the tip about the tees. I don’t like tight clothes but baggy makes me look baggy (and bigger).
Tania–I am a subscriber to your blog and always enjoy finding it in my inbox…..
I realize this might involve some repetition, but I would appreciate it if you could include the details of the jeans you are wearing in every post. Even the torn/destroyed ones.
Where you purchased them and the name of the style would be so helpful.
You always look adorable! Thank you so much!
I will try Mandy. I usually have had the jeans for such a long time, they are no longer on the websites. But, hopefully I will be able to find similar ones. Thanks for being a subscriber and leaving a comment. ????
Love your blog! It’s the first one I look for each day. Since you show Vera Bradley slippers, I was wondering if you have one of her purses? Or are they out of style? What do you think of them? I have a couple and I like the pockets in them, but I wonder if they are “old lady.”
I love the slippers, and I have a WONDERFUL throw that I use on the couch from Vera Bradley. My wallet I carry is also a Vera, because it can contain all my need items, and it has a long strap. When I go to flea markets, yard sales, etc., I can carry that instead of my large purse and everything I need is there. BUT, I don’t really like the purses. I never have, so go figure.
You could wear your Tiffany blue Hunter boots, grab a coat, hat, gloves and be ready to go out! Love it!
Actually this is one of my favorite looks on you. You look fresh and dare I say…sexy. Go casual girl!!
Wow! Thanks Marsha!!! I think the color of the hoodie is what is so appealing.????
I’m new to your blog. I found one of your post on Pinterest and I love your style! I have a question for you, which you may have covered in the past….and I haven’t had time to look at previous post…but thought I would ask. What products do you use in your hair or do you have pretty thick hair? I like the cut, but my hair has gotten thinner as I’ve aged and I’m not sure I could pull it off. Thanks!
Rhonda, I am so glad that you have found my blog, and I hope you come again. I don’t use any products in my hair, other than shampoo and conditioner. I have really thick hair, and my stylist usually has to thin it every time she gives me a cut. You can try root boosters or salt spray on the roots. Products like that help with the lift, without making your hair feel brittle and stiff. I hope to hear more from you in the future. ????
If the reading glasses annoy you, maybe you can try what I do. My contacts prescription is for one eye distant and one eye close up. Not everyone can get used to this but I like it better than having to put on glasses whenever I need to read or do close work. Always love your looks, thanks!
DeeDee, I have tried having one contact in and one out. I do that when one contact is bothering me and I don’t want to wear glasses. I usually end up looking pretty comical trying to hold something at just the right spot in order to see. Hahaha
Gosh, another thing we have in common. ..our vision issues. I see perfectly up close without the contacts. When I am not wearing my contacts, I wear my glasses, which are invisiline bifocals. Sometimes the bottom “reader” part of the lenses isn’t enough, so I will put on a pair of readers with my glasses…now don’t you know that’s a sight, a crazy woman wearing 2 pairs of glasses?
I tried bifocal contacts, but I didn’t like them. They let you see somewhat in the distance, and somewhat up close, but not really good either way.
Adorable as ever. Like that you show things from stores that most women can afford to shop at. Love your perky attitude and fun style. Living in Florida I wear alot more casual type clothing but that doesn’t mean you still can’t have fun and be stylish (no frumpy style here). Have a great day.
Thanks Michele. You might have to give ME pointers this summer on how to wear shorts. I am already dreading the coming months.
You look cute and comfortable. The house shoes are perfect!!
Please, tell me where you get your womens fitted t-shirt. I love your blog!! It’s so relatable and your clothes are affordable. Stay safe in the storm.
Ann, my t-shirt is from Old Navy and it is a size M. I only tell you the size because I normally choose a L or XL in clothing. They must run larger, so you would need to try on one. Mine is really old, in fact if you look close enough you can see a tiny little hole in the front. I guess it is time for me to make a trip to Old Navy. Haha
Love this house slippers. They are certainly a must this time of the year when floors are cold. Have a great Saturday… hope you are as socked in with snow as we are. LOL Just kidding, but it sure is lovely outside!
Love the look and the detail on where you got everything. The clothes that anyone can afford, I love Old Navy. Love the hair style and make up not to much.
You look cute & casual – love your hair!
