50 IS NOT OLD | CHOOSING ACCESSORIES FOR A DRAMATIC EFFECTHow many times in your life have you been told, “Do as I say, not as I do?” I hated when my mother would tell me that along with, “Because I said so.” Ugh! I am afraid that I am as guilty of this as the next person. If you read my Sunday blog post then you know that I am all sunshine and unicorns and full of positive attitude. 50 IS NOT OLD | CHOOSING ACCESSORIES FOR A DRAMATIC EFFECTThe problem is that I am also rain clouds, ostriches, and a negative Nelly. I woke up on Saturday morning to a couple of events that had me whining. I wasn’t looking on the bright side, I wasn’t thinking anything was happening for a good reason, I was just bummed and pitiful. As I wrote my Sunday’s post I kept reminding myself to have a change in attitude and to think positive thoughts. Later on in the day, I got to talk to a wonderful lady in Maryland that improved my spirits. She was sweet and fun and I got off the phone thinking that my life is indeed #rigged in my favor. I promise I am going to start doing as I say! What sayings did your Mom say to you that you hated but find yourself saying? Lol!50 IS NOT OLD | CHOOSING ACCESSORIES FOR A DRAMATIC EFFECTCan you believe how much black and gray that I have been wearing here lately? I know, I am shocked also!!! The other day a nice lady messaged me that I had helped her so much in her wardrobe. She said that in the past all she did was wear jeans and a t-shirt. I responded back to her and told her that jeans and a t-shirt were fine to wear as long as there was some unique details or accessories that could spruce the outfit up. So, today that is exactly what I did. There are so many cute accessories to this look that I am not sure where to even start but I think I’ll start with the jacket/blazer. I bought this jacket a couple years ago at a thrift store. It was brand new with the tags still attached. Here the fun part, it is by Izod and it is velvet. Velvet just happens to be a HUGE trend this year so that worked out really really well. The rich look of the black velvet against the stark white of the t-shirt is a classic look that everyone can replicate.

50 IS NOT OLD | CHOOSING ACCESSORIES FOR A DRAMATIC EFFECTAn outfit needs icing just like a cake. In this case, the icing is my jewelry. I felt like going with some “fringe” and I just happened to know where I could find some. I am starting with my Sookie necklace. This just laid on the v-neck of my t-shirt perfectly. I love that it has a “rocker” vibe to it. Here is the deal though, it is showing that it has low stock. When this happens they may or may not get more in stock since the new items will be coming out in April or May. If they don’t intend to keep the item in the next catalog they might just not re-stock the item. If this is something you like then you better get your order in now. The matching Lois bracelet looks to have plenty of stock. It is adjustable and I love the movement when you walk, talk, and gesture with your hands. There is a matching pair of earrings called the Aubrey but I chose the Mason to wear today instead. I love the Mason earrings and they are only $10.00 so be sure to add them when you are placing an order.  50 IS NOT OLD | CHOOSING ACCESSORIES FOR A DRAMATIC EFFECT I ordered 500.00 in Plunder jewelry the other day! I am stocking up for giveaway items for everyone who is buying 75.00 in products excluding shipping and taxes. Order at least 75.00 and get an additional piece of jewelry from me. January is the month to make your purchase!!! Go to plunderdesign.com/taniastephens to place an order and be sure to pick a party with my name on it.  50 IS NOT OLD | CHOOSING ACCESSORIES FOR A DRAMATIC EFFECT I went with my Marc Fisher black leather ankle boots today because I thought they matched the rocker vibe of the jewelry. This pair has a block heel, very much in style at this time, and silver accent buckles on the side. I like all of the shoes that I have gotten so far from Marc Fisher. They are great quality and they have all been very comfortable. I hate when I wear something and I am dying to take them off halfway through the day. I have been known to walk around barefooted at work when something bothers me. Lol! I am not sure WHY that picture never hits the blog. Hahaha!

50 IS NOT OLD | CHOOSING ACCESSORIES FOR A DRAMATIC EFFECTThese jeans are high-rise Rockstars in tall from Old Navy. Because they are tall I had to fold the cuff several times. Lol! These are nice jeans at an affordable price. One of my favorite accessories to change the look of an outfit is a scarf. Affordable and dramatic is what makes the scarf a go-to favorite of mine. Today’s addition is in the snow leopard pattern. This one is very lightweight and I will be able to wear it even in the summer months.

50 IS NOT OLD | CHOOSING ACCESSORIES FOR A DRAMATIC EFFECTSeveral of you took me up on my Hydration special offer this past Saturday and Sunday and I will get your multi-function eye cream in the mail before I head off on Thursday to my Spa trip in Georgia with my Energizer Bunny Friend. Many of you might be wondering why you even need “hydration” or a good “moisturizer” anyway. Blame it on Mother Nature and Menopause. Our bodies are a wonderful creation and we were made to ramp up production for the child-bearing age but to decline after those years are over. Most of you reading this are either entering this age, already in the midst of this age, or you can see that age in the rearview mirror. When Menopause, pre, and post, hits our bodies it brings a lot of change to our skin. The skin is our largest organ and it is really impacted. Over the next few days, I am going to talk about what happens during this time frame and hopefully give you some tips on how to combat the changes that you prefer not to have. Estrogen starts to decline as we enter menopause. When Estrogen is not around to help keep Testosterone in check, we start to notice changes like adult acne or facial hair. What??? No thanks! Also, you might notice a decrease in collagen and elastin in our skin. That translates into sagging and wrinkling of the skin. YUCK!!! Also, the blood flow through the small capillaries starts to decrease and our skin starts to thin. You might notice that you cut or tear easier. Hydration is affected as well as the melanin levels in our skin which protects us from sunburns. Today, I am attacking the hydration and moisture levels in our skin. I don’t want that sagging look if I can help it. Finding a “good” moisturizer will help and finding a “great” moisturizer is even better. I bet you have already figured out that I can help you with that. Lol! Rodan + Fields clinically test their products to make sure they are safe AND that they work. Unless you have extremely oily skin then I recommend you use BOTH their Active Hydration Serum and their moisturizers. For a limited time, R+F has a 20% off special for a regimen/active hydration serum. This is the best price available especially when you make the purchase as a Preferred Customer and receive an extra 10% off plus FREE shipping. 8. wow, I love this look so much, and I noticed your necklace before anything. so you can guess that I ordered one before I finished reading! Have a great day, You look amazing!

    1. Mary, that necklace is pretty special and it is not real heavy which is something that I like.

  9. My mom always said, “a place for everything and everything in its place”. Now I drive my own hubby and kids crazy saying it when either a) they don’t put things back where they belong or b) they can’t find something because it’s not in its place. haha

    1. Emersyn was over last night and I was making her put all of her things back up. She doesn’t even complain because she is used to me saying that.
