CHANGE IS HARD

I have been in the middle of a computer hardware and software change at work. You have all heard me whine, complain, fuss, and stress about the changes. Is this age related? Is it because I am set in my ways? Why is this so hard?

I think most of us consider change to be a bad thing. We have to learn or re-learn something new and that is not always easy. You know that older people get a bad rap for being “set in their ways.” If it isn’t broke then why change it?

I don’t limit my aversion of change to work issues. I am one that never rearranges furniture. My poor house is in bad need of an update but I just keep putting it off. I have had the same table in my kitchen for over twenty-seven years.I guess that is why I have had Joe for so long, I don’t like change! Lol!

Change can be good or even great! I truly am learning to embrace change and just roll with it. How many of you run out to get the newest release of an iPhone? I sure don’t mind changing phones. Don’t we celebrate when a new baby is born? We don’t mind that change either. I know that when we get the “bugs” worked out of our new system that everything will run much smoother and easier.

So, I guess it is not “change” that I don’t like, it is the type of “change” that I don’t like. I don’t like death, I don’t like health issues, I don’t like children leaving home, I don’t like uncertainty. There is only one thing left to do and that is to just tell the Lord. He already knows how I feel but I need to tell Him. When I am frustrated, scared, sad, lonely, hurting, etc., I need to reach out to Him. I need His guidance and I need His strength.

There is nothing we can do about change, it is going to come. I am learning to celebrate the changes I love, to be thankful for the lessons I learned when the changes are hard, and to cry out to Him when the changes seem unbearable.

Have A Blessed Sunday!

Wow. I love this song, I have never heard of Shannon before. I, too, am one that doesn’t like a lot of change, if I feel, I need to, I will in due time.. 🙂 But change is needed, these days of such strife, so much change is needed, to make sure the future of our kids and grand-kids, is bright and peaceful, and full of life. If not there will be strife and unpeaceful days, uncertainty and pain, and no one is going to know the Lord/God the way we do. I guess the change has to come from us first, and then we can help others.
I guess we all are a work in process. Thank you for a sharing so a great message.

  3. Our brains are lazy and the best thing we can do for them is to teach it something new! People that are constantly learning something new (nothing profound or rocket science) seem to live longer without cognitive problems. Indeed, that doesn’t mean we like it but we knew deep down is good for us…way deep down! LOL! Blessing to you and have a good week ahead!
