50 IS NOT OLD | CAN WOMEN IN THEIR FIFTIES WEAR A HALTER TOPI left work on a little early on Wednesday afternoon to go home and just relax. I opened the gate to walk onto the patio and I could hear squeals of laughter coming from that direction. I knew what that meant, my little stinker Emersyn must be swimming in the pool. I opened the gate and walked in and when she saw me she jumped out and came flying over. Come swim, NeeNee!!! This was just what I need to help me relax.50 IS NOT OLD | CAN WOMEN IN THEIR FIFTIES WEAR A HALTER TOPFirst, she had to have a sandwich fixed and she was very specific about what she wanted on it. It could only be ham and nothing else. Since I only had some turkey I tried to talk her into that but she flat out refused. So, I fixed her the sandwich with the turkey and handed it to her and said ok, here’s your sandwich. She ate every last bite and even munched down on some broccoli salad. If I had told her that it was turkey she probably would have spit it out. I think this falls into the “what you don’t know won’t hurt you” category. After she ate we went out and played and played. It is funny what you will do for the grandbabies. We had to go under the water and wave at each other. She had goggles on but I didn’t so my mascara started to run. Joe laughed and said he was going to take a picture for you gurls of me with raccoon eyes. Lol!50 IS NOT OLD | CAN WOMEN IN THEIR FIFTIES WEAR A HALTER TOPI bought this halter top while I was in Alaska. I love the color, I would almost call this butterscotch, and I love the hem line, however, this is not my favorite style of neckline. I still envision the movies back in the 70’s where all the women had on halter tops when I see this style. They say that halter tops are flattering for most body types but that those who are chesty might have more problems.

50 IS NOT OLD | CAN WOMEN IN THEIR FIFTIES WEAR A HALTER TOP I don’t think that I have ever worn this set on the blog before. It was actually one of those sets that I thought I would never wear. The picture on the website makes the necklace look tiny and it is huge and GORGEOUS!!! I can’t believe how different it looks in person. The earrings are called the Juliet. They are gray and creamy white stones and they have a 2″ drop. 50 IS NOT OLD | CAN WOMEN IN THEIR FIFTIES WEAR A HALTER TOP The matching Imogene necklace is soooo pretty. It has dark smokey looking stones, light gray stones, and topaz stones. I love the dangles that hang from the pendant. It is 33″ long with probably a 2″ adjustable chain. The chain on this necklace is a little more dainty than a lot of the Plunder jewelry. Go to www.plunderdesign.com/taniastephens to order and be sure to pick the party with my name in it. 50 IS NOT OLD | CAN WOMEN IN THEIR FIFTIES WEAR A HALTER TOP I thought my dark gray Aimee Kenstenberg satchel would look good with this outfit. The gold accents even matched my necklace. Aren’t I little Miss Matchy, Matchy. Lol! I really like this satchel but it is too small for me to carry on a regular basis so I only use it occasionally. I will say that the leather and quality are really nice on this purse though.

50 IS NOT OLD | CAN WOMEN IN THEIR FIFTIES WEAR A HALTER TOP The dark gray gladiator studded sandals by Sole Society match the purse perfectly. I know you are not supposed to match a purse to your shoes but who cares. I like the look and I think it looks nice together. I will never be on the cutting edge of fashion but I will always look “nice.” I know a lot of bloggers go out of their way to wear outfits that make you scratch your head and if that makes them happy then that is fine by me. However, I am just going to stay in the range of “that looks nice” and I hope that is fine by them. Lol!

50 IS NOT OLD | CAN WOMEN IN THEIR FIFTIES WEAR A HALTER TOPI love my trellis pane ankle pants. These are the lightest gray or silver and I think it looks fabulous with the yellow. I love the color combination! I also wear these pants with navy, (here) which really makes the silver stand out. I normally wear a solid color when I wear a printed item, I am not the best at that whole pattern matching trend. Lol! Remember, is just a matter of personal preference. You wear what you like. Just don’t wear pajamas to Wal-Mart! Hahaha!

50 IS NOT OLD | CAN WOMEN IN THEIR FIFTIES WEAR A HALTER TOPThis has been a great month for my Rodan + Fields team. We have been making plans to attend a convention in October in Charleston, SC and I am so excited to see everyone again. I personally have been lucky to have gotten several emails from customers telling me how much they like the products which NEVER gets old. I had two ladies cancel their PC accounts but only because they decided to become consultants themselves!!! WooHoo! How exciting that they will be able to buy their products at a huge discount and then hopefully make some spending cash for the extras in life, like new shoes and clothing. Lo! On a completely different note, some of you saw me post my “naked” picture without makeup. Rodan + Fields gave $561,000.00 in contributions to programs to Prescription For A Change. This company really is awesome.

Do you know what my number one referrer page is? It is Pinterest! I truly appreciate every time you “pin” a picture. Heck, pin ALL the pictures if you want. Lol! Also, if you would like to share my posts on Facebook or Twitter, I would appreciate that. It helps get my blog out to more people, and I am sure you just want to spread the entertaining sayings I have. Lol! The comment section is at the end of the post, so keep scrolling. I look forward to reading all the comments, they make my day.

  1. Love this halter, great color great fit. I am a 36 DD and wear a halter bra vs a strapless it’s so much more comfortable. I feel I look more confident if I’m not adjusting and tugging at my outfit.

  2. Exited to start following your blog. I need to start feeling good about myself, my clothes, my hair. It looks like you are just. What I need. Thank you.

  5. Absolutely as long as it’s in good taste. You look fabulous; the top is cute and I like the color combination. The story about Emersyn is cute as well.

Um, I’d say, no we can’t. We had our day once upon a time!

I like the toon but have never worn a halter top! I north of 60 and you might say my bra is like social security, I didn’t always need one, but can’t imagine life without it-at least outside of my house! So, my question is do you have a good recommendation for a foundation garment that would be suitable, comfortable, and supportive? Otherwise, I think a lot of us mature ladies will just leave these tops on the hanger. Thanks, Tania, love reading your blog.

  8. I say yes to a halter top if it’s tastefully worn. No, if you have back fat. lol. I wear a small in tops & I’m currently hitting the gym & working on toning my arms. I’m starting to see some definition in my arms. I think a sleeveless or halter top looks much better if your arms are toned.

  9. Tania, you are a breath of fresh air. I follow about 3 bloggers like you and you stand out to me. Keep teaching and inspiring us.
