Burgundy Outfit Ideas for Women Over 50 in Fall 2025
Burgundy is one of the “it colors” this fall, and I’m not sad about it. It’s rich, flattering, and one of those shades that looks good on just about everyone. I’ve seen it showing up in sweaters, handbags, and even outerwear, and it’s such an easy way to freshen up your wardrobe for the season. Today, I’m sharing burgundy outfit ideas for women over 50 that work for the office, church, date night, and everything in between!

Burgundy Outfit Ideas for Women Over 50
Outfit 1: Burgundy Pants + Neutral Sweater

These brushed corduroy pants are such a statement piece, and I love how they give the whole outfit a rich fall feel! When you’re working with a bold bottom like these, pairing it with a neutral top keeps things from looking too busy. This outfit formula is one of my favorites because it’s simple, but looks put-together every time.

This floral sweater is the perfect partner for the pants. The lighter background softens the look, while the small print adds just enough interest without competing with the bold color. You could swap this out for any neutral sweater. Cream, beige, or even gray would all work beautifully with burgundy.

To finish things off, I added a tan bag that matches my shoes. Coordinating your accessories is a little styling trick that makes your outfit feel intentional and pulled together. It also lets the burgundy really shine as the focus of the look.
Outfit 2: Monochromatic

You gurls know I love a monochromatic look. It’s the easiest way to look pulled together without stressing over what matches. I paired these same Burgundy Pants with a burgundy cardigan, and the matching tones create such a long, lean line. This is a simple and easy outfit formula to follow for fall. Just pick a rich color you love and wear it head to toe.

This cardigan is cozy yet polished, and the button detail makes it feel a little dressier. Wearing a sweater in the same shade as your pants keeps the look cohesive, but you could also layer a tank or tee underneath if you like a peek of contrast.

Instead of playing it safe with a neutral shoe, I added a pair of leopard print boots. Animal print acts as a neutral in my book, and it gives the outfit a little personality without clashing with the burgundy.

This camel tote is a workhorse bag, and it’s big enough to carry to the office or even use when you’re traveling. I love how the warm shade ties back to the leopard shoes, which helps ground all the burgundy and keeps the look from feeling too matchy-matchy.
Outfit #3: Burgundy Dress

A burgundy dress is such an easy one-and-done option for fall. I love how this one has a flattering V-neckline and a tiered skirt that gives it great movement. If you want a simple way to add burgundy to your wardrobe, a dress like this makes it effortless!

Instead of adding a bag or statement shoes, I kept things simple with dainty jewelry. A delicate Pendant Necklace, small Double Hoops, and a Bracelet were all I needed to finish the look. Sometimes the best accessory is one that doesn’t compete with your outfit but quietly pulls everything together. This kind of jewelry works for everyday, and it’s just enough to make a dress like this feel polished.
Outfit 4: Burgundy Jacket with Black Denim

If you’re not ready to dive into burgundy pants or a dress, a jacket is the perfect place to start. I threw this one on over a blouse and added black wide-leg jeans. This is something I would totally wear to lunch with friends or on a casual date night with my hubby!
The jacket is limited in size, so here are a few others you might like.

I wanted to give you gurls a better look at this blouse because it is gorgeous! The smocked neckline and the subtle print make it feel really special, but it’s still easy to wear with jeans or dress pants.

Verse Of The Day
Revelation 7:9-10 (NIV)
9 After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. 10 And they cried out in a loud voice:
“Salvation belongs to our God,
who sits on the throne,
and to the Lamb.”

:)Found it! Burgundy is not my favorite color, but it looks very nice on you!

😊love learning about the “it”colors for each season and the ways you style each outfit. I usually have something from a past season- like the leopard boots that I can bring to this season never would have thought to put leopard and burgundy together. I enjoy your posts.
Leopard goes with everything…it is considered a neutral.
