50 IS NOT OLD | BLACK ON BLACK STYLE | FASHION OVER 40Gurls, I am going on the road again. This time, I am going to be going to San Francisco California, and I have never been there before. I had a lot of friends on FaceBook leave me some “must do” things to do since I will only be there for a few days. I have never been one to travel before; I figured that it was expensive and I could “see” all of the sights on the internet. Plus, the biggest obstacle for me when it comes to traveling has been my fear of flying. I have let an unreasonable fear keep me for going and enjoying different cities and places. I would choose to spend 12 hours in a car driving to Florida instead of hopping on a plane that can get me there in about 1.5 hours. (Insert shaking head here.)50 IS NOT OLD | BLACK ON BLACK STYLE | FASHION OVER 40This trip isn’t costing me much since I am being flown out there, put up in a lovely hotel, treated to a wonderful reception with heavy appetizers and drinks, a tour of the R+F headquarters, and some training by some of their staff. Wow! Someone needs to drive to my house and pinch me because I am still in a daze. I decided to stay an extra day so that I could do some sightseeing so this coming Saturday I will be jamming as much into my day as I possibly can. I can’t wait to share my adventure with all of you, and if it is half as nice as I have heard, I will probably be making another trip with Joe later. Be sure to shout out your favorite thing to do there since I can only choose a couple of activities.
50 IS NOT OLD | BLACK ON BLACK STYLE | FASHION OVER 40I love the texture and the zig-zag pattern of this sweater. This is by a fairly new brand called 1.State that was only launched in 2014. They try to bring clean architectural details to a feminine, modern look. I like what they have created, and I have another sweater from them that I will be showing you tomorrow. This fits true to size, and it is hand washable. It features a drop sleeve look and a crew neck which almost looks like a turtleneck on me. This sweater is very cozy, and it will become one of your favorites fast. Here is the link for women’s regular, and here is the link for women’s plus. 50 IS NOT OLD | BLACK ON BLACK STYLE | FASHION OVER 40I know that these red pumps were the first thing that you noticed in this picture. I am falling in love with this shoe designer even though I originally only bought his purses. The brand is Michael Kors, and I now have four or five pairs of his shoes, and everyone is so easy to wear. I took advantage of the Half Yearly sale from Nordstrom and bought this pair and another pair that will be a pair that I will wear in the spring and summer. Here are a few that I think are very similar. Believe me when I say that a pair of red pumps will change your outlook.

50 IS NOT OLD | BLACK ON BLACK STYLE | FASHION OVER 40I don’t have a clue what has me so tickled. My daughter was playing photographer today for me, so I am sure that she was making fun of me in some way. I thought that adding my wide leg black pants that I bought at Cato Fashions would keep this outfit looking dressy and classic. I don’t wear black a lot, but I do like the effect that you get from wearing black on black. I was trying to think the other day what one word would describe my style. The best that I could come up with was “colorful”, and then here I am wearing strictly black and white. I am glad that I decided to add the bright red pop of color so that I could still be considered colorful. What one word would you use to describe your style? Do not use pitiful, clueless, drab, or sad. You are reading my blog, so I would like to think that I have helped you change so that those words don’t apply. Lol!

I love San Francisco! I haven’t been there for a long time but there’s so much to see and eat! I love your outfit. Sadly I don’t do well in heels anymore.

  2. I just returned from a week in San Fransisco and Napa. It was wonderful! We spent time at the Warf, took a boat cruise around the bay and under theGolden Gate bridge, and walked the bridge. If you have a chance to drive south on hiway 1, DO IT! It is the most amazing drive every. Such a great place to visit. I will be back!

  3. I started reading your sunday blogs exclusively, loving your encouragement with spiritual faith. Eventually i started looking at your daily blogs and now experimenting with some of the looks you suggest. I’ve found you to be very refreshing amd very helpful with your suggestions. Keep up the good work. And BTW i love the red shoes.

  4. You look great from head-to-toe!! Love the pops of red!! Have a great time in SF!! Can’t wait to see your photos.

  5. enjoy your trip! You look both classy and comfortable and the red is a great pop, cobalt blue would work as well for another great look. I would have to say my look is office casual, sometimes more office than casual and sometime more boho. I love to mix up my look and it has been so much easier since reading your blog=Thank You

  6. The trip sounds very exciting! I’ve never been so can’t recommend anything but look forward to hearing about it! Love the red shoes with black. Wish I could wear those heels!

When I traveled to San Francisco by myself years ago, I only had one free afternoon so I took one of those city bus tours. It lasted 3-4 hours and I got to see a lot of highlights that I couldn’t have seen if I had tried to do it on my own. On another business trip I had my husband with me and we took a trolley to Fisherman’s Wharf on our free afternoon. Enjoy your trip!

  9. Black on black is my daily choice. When I wear a color, people think I am crazy!???. I just love the look of black clothing, shoes, boots, purses, etc. You look great in black!?

Have fun on your trip. I have never been to California, but my husband travels out there every couple of months.

    1. Gina, you and my sister would look like twins. It is so funny when we shop since her entire cart is black, gray, or navy and I have all these wild prints and colors. Lol!

I think you look gorgeous in black – you should wear it more often

    1. Aww, thanks, Julie! I don’t mind black if it is not right up against my face. I like a brighter color against my face to brighten my look.
