BETWEEN THE LINES FEATURING 50 IS NOT OLD
I am just one of those people. who always wants to read between the lines. What did they really mean, or what are they trying not to tell you. In this case the answer is easy. I am participating in a new series by Katherine of Katherine’s Corner. She asked bloggers who are in the over 50 age group, of all genre, to join her in this ten week series. This is series 2, go here for the first series, and I will be joined today by six other bloggers. Each one of us will answer a couple questions from Katherine, and on the last day of the series, we get to ask Katherine a few questions.
Katherine asked us each to talk about why we blog, and the obstacles we face being in a certain age range. I think she was politely saying we might be in a computer challenged age bracket. Lol! She was correct in that assumption. The poor thing had to change the set-up at least twice because this is something new for a lot of us. I was just thrilled that I was not going to be featured till way up in May. WRONG!!! Someone asked to be switched, and being so sweet of course, I agreed. As long as I wasn’t in the first group, I was fine. I hate the feeling of inadequacy. I will work my but off, if I know what I am doing, but I can’t stand that phase where you are afraid your going to be the only one who doesn’t understand. Fortunately, Katherine has done these type series before, maybe not with quite this many participants, but she took it all in stride.
This is one of the reasons I love blogging. It is just another way to get me out of my comfort zone. It is also a way to make myself accountable. It is waaay to easy to just throw on the first thing you come to, pull your hair back out of your face, not put on any makeup, and head out the door. Not anymore! Now I make sure I look “presentable” every time I leave the house. Shoot, I even try to look decent when I am staying home. You never know who is going to come to the door. Now that people in town know about the blog, I feel a little extra pressure to look nice. This is a good thing. I don’t mind having my feet held to the fire.
The funny thing is, several younger people have actually talked to me about them starting their own blog. What!!! That is about the highest compliment you will ever get from someone younger than you. Especially when it comes to computers, technology, or fashion. Haha I sure wish I had someone to talk to that already knew the ins and outs. I am sure there are a lot of things I need to be doing, but I have no idea what they are, or where to even look to find them. My goal at this time is to just continue to grow as a blogger, continue to grow my readers, and continue to grow my writing skills. Hopefully by my first anniversary, some of these goals will have been met.
My outfit today is black & white. I thought you could use a change, from my normal colorful outfits. I am doing a little pattern mixing today. The top is one I bought from Old Navy years ago. I had at first thought I would wear it with a solid pant, but when I pulled it out today, I changed my mind. Here is a black top with white print, and here is a color block top in the same color scheme.
You might have noticed a little change in today’s post. No, not the munchkin, my shoes. I have styled three different pair of shoes. Go ahead and scroll back through the pictures, I’ll wait on you. Dum, dum, dum, dee, dum. Okay, I see your back. I got all three at the QVC outlet stores in town. Yes, that is plural. We have three, since a brand new one just opened last week. Haha The black (similar) and the gray (similar) pair are by Sole Society, and the red (similar) pair is by G.I.L.I. Did you notice how the change in shoe changes the whole look? The pants are a small check pixie pant by Old Navy. Here is a similar pair.
Little Miss Emersyn is styling a gray satchel by Aimee Kestenberg. Notice how it goes with everything, even ice cream pajamas and hot pink tennis shoes. Don’t you just love that blonde hair?
I hope you have enjoyed today’s post. Be sure to check out all the other lovely ladies who are joining me today. And a special thanks to Katherine for wrangling all the cats together for this series.
The comment section is at the end of the post, so keep scrolling. I look forward to reading all the comments, they make my day.
This is also something I WANT and NEED: I have added a subscription button to the blog, right under the recent posts tab. I would appreciate it if you would take the time to sign up. You will then be notified by email when a new post is made.
Be sure to follow me on Pinterest, Bloglovin, Instagram, and Facebook.

I want a QVC outlet store near me! Love this outfit, especially with the black sandals. Little miss E is such a cutie pie. Love your blog!!
If your comments had a “like” button I would agree with them. I love your style, your wit and your faith. Most days your blog is up when I get up at 5am and I read it first with my coffee. You are an inspiration to take more pride in ourselves which is something that has fallen by the wayside. Your links are great and I love you use affordable styles many from stores we can visit and try on. I do not like return charges when things do not work. I envy your QVC stores. I am happy for your success. I check out your DIL ‘s blog. She is cute and I like her style also. Thank you for all your hard work. You are great.
Hi Karen
Love your style!!! I think this series was a lot of fun and how nice to meet fellow bloggers over 50. I never knew there were so many of us. I am very pleased!!! Now that we know who we are we should try to support teach other.
I hope we will.
Where is a qvc outlet? I used to go to the one in Mebane, NC but I live in VA and would love to find another. The one in NC closed.
Karen, these are not “official” outlet stores. They are stores that buy over stock and return QVC merchandise. I am in Grundy Virginia, it is extreme Southwestern Virginia.
It’s so nice to meet new faces through “Between the Lines” Series.
Your outfit is fabulous!

As always, I enjoy your blog and look forward to reading it daily, as well as pinning your outfits to my Pinterest board. I think you are a very good writer; I like your wit and how your personality comes through in your writing. Love little Miss Emersyn styling the purse, she has your pose down pat.
Well for someone second at the gate, you did good! I was one of the lucky ones to be first up at the gate – thank goodness I’ve had a few series events under my belt or I would have panicked. Dang, I wish I would have thought to add my social buttons at the bottom of my post, like you did! It’s great meeting other “seasoned” bloggers in this series and I look forward to following you, Tania. Oh and I love the name of your blog!
This is one of the cutest outfits yet! I love it! Pattern mixing doesn’t usually appeal to me, but this is perfect! Can I just say that I am jealous of your 3 QVC stores?! You are a lucky duck!
My dad is 84 today and my mom turned 80 in February. They married in April after she turned 21. (To put it in perspective.) 98% of the days she gets up, brushes her teeth, and gets completely read for the day before she does anything else. Her reasoning is two-fold. She said she always looked her best when they were dating and she sees no reason to change that just because they’re married. (She worked until her 60s.) The second reason is because she never knows when the phone is going to ring and one of us (my brother (who lives close with two boys) or me (2.5 hours away)) will need her. She wants to be able to come right then instead of having to waste time getting ready. This has been a powerful lesson for me through the years. She still wants Dad to think she’s pretty. She still thinks he’s worth it after 59 years. Is my mom a fashion plate or vain, no. She just wants to look her best for those she cares about. Your comment of “looking decent” even when your staying at home reminded me of Mom. When I am dressed and ready for the day I feel better. It takes just as long to put on cute clothes as it does ugly clothes! Thanks for blogging. I know it takes a lot of time and I appreciate it. I sure wish I had a QVC outlet….
Hi Tania, I saw you on the Between the Lines Blogger Series. I’m so happy to see so many bloggers “our age.” Your granddaughter is adorable! I look forward to meeting you!
