The Best Summer Pajamas for Women Who Want to Stay Cool and Comfortable
I recently did a poll on the blog, and was SHOCKED that pajamas were the item least purchased. The reason I was so shocked is that pajamas are one of my most purchased products! I love my cozy flannel sets in the winter, and come summer, it’s all about lightweight, breathable pieces that still feel cute and put-together. I don’t care if you’re lounging with your morning coffee, winding down after a long day, or packing for a summer trip, having comfy PJs that don’t leave you in a sweat makes all the difference. I’ve rounded up a few summer sleepwear pajamas that check all the boxes: soft, flattering, and just the right amount of cool.
Best Pajama Tips for Hot Summer Nights
What’s the best material for summer pajamas?
Look for breathable fabrics like 100% cotton, bamboo, modal, or lightweight rayon blends. These materials help wick away sweat and allow your skin to breathe, even when the AC’s working overtime.
Are short sets or nightgowns better for summer?
That depends on your personal preference! Shorts and tanks are great for lounging or travel, while nightgowns can feel breezy and feminine. I prefer shorts in the summer, or short-sleeve tops with long pants.
Can summer pajamas still be flattering?
Absolutely. Just because it’s sleepwear doesn’t mean you have to feel sloppy! Look for little details like V-necks, gathered waists, or flowy fabrics that drape nicely. You want to feel relaxed and cute… even if only your dog is seeing you!
Should I size up for extra comfort?
If you like a roomier fit like I do, then I suggest sizing up in sleepwear, especially during hot months when clingy fabric can feel uncomfortable. Just make sure the top doesn’t slip off your shoulders or the shorts ride up too much.
The Best Summer Pajamas for Women
Satin Button Down Pajama Set
I ordered these silky pajamas last month, and I feel a little spoiled every time I put them on. The satin has that soft, silky feel but isn’t too heavy or clingy, which makes it nice even on warmer nights. It’s oversized in the best way, roomy and comfy without looking like you’re swimming in it. They come in lots of fun prints (seriously, like 40 different ones!), but I went with this gorgeous floral print!
2PCS Monkey Beach Shorts Set

If I’m not wearing the silky pajamas above, then I’m in this Monkey Beach Shorts Set. I ordered them both at the same time, and I take time about wearing them. These pajamas are similar to Roller Rabbit Monkey Polo Pajamas, except they are over $100 cheaper.
Pajama Top With Capri Pajama Pants
If you prefer a little more coverage than shorts, this set is such a comfy option. The capri-length pants are lightweight and loose without being frumpy, and the short-sleeved top has a classic O-neck style that’s easy to wear. Bonus: it has pockets! Perfect for lounging in the evening or sipping your morning coffee on the porch.
Bamboo Short Sleeve Pajama Set
Made from viscose derived from bamboo, this pajama set feels silky-smooth on the skin and has a cooling effect that’s wonderful on hot nights. The V-neck adds a flattering touch, and the fabric has a gentle stretch that makes it feel like your favorite worn-in tee. Soft, breathable, and elegant without trying too hard.
Button Down Shirt and Shorts Pajama Set
A classic button-down set is always a win! This one has the cutest tropical print. The fabric has a nice drape, and the collar gives it a slightly elevated look, perfect if you like feeling a little more put together at bedtime. Great for sleeping, lounging, or even tossing in your suitcase for summer travel.
This Cooling Pajama Sleepwear Set feels like a dream! The bamboo fabric is ultra-soft and breathable, and the jogger-style pants have just enough shape without clinging. If you like pajamas that double as loungewear, you can wear around the house without changing first thing in the morning, this set is a go-to.
Cool Nights Printed Pajama Shorts
Cool Nights fabric is known for being, well, cool, literally! These shorts are lightweight, breathable, and great for warmer weather. They come in fun prints and can be paired with the matching tank or with any comfy tee or tank in your pajama drawer!
Best Nightgowns for Summer for Women Over 50
Long Sleeveless Night Gown
The fabric of this nightgown is lightweight and breathable, and I love the way it gently flows away from the body. It’s comfy enough for bedtime but still cute if you’re padding around the house in the morning or drinking your coffee on the porch.
Cool Nights Short Sleeve Sleepshirt
If you deal with night sweats or just tend to sleep hot, this sleep shirt is a must. The Cool Nights fabric is cool to the touch, and it really does help keep you from overheating. This is cute enough that you could wear it in the evenings when you’re cooking dinner or watching your favorite show! Plus, it comes in SOOOO many great colors and prints.
Sleeveless Cotton Nightgown House Dress
This house dress is sleeveless, soft, and easy to throw on, and yes, it has pockets! The cotton is breathable and light, and it’s one of those pieces you’ll find yourself wearing long after you’ve poured your morning coffee. If you like sleepwear that doesn’t scream “pajamas,” this is a great pick.
Robes for Summer
Women’s Seersucker Bathrobe
If you like to have a lightweight robe handy for tossing on in the morning, or when guests are around, this one’s a great pick. The seersucker fabric feels crisp and cool, and it’s 100% cotton, so it breathes well on hot days. It has pockets (always a plus!) and a relaxed fit that’s easy to move in. This is one of those robes that feels polished without being fussy. Perfect for summer!
Lightweight Jersey Bamboo Viscose Short Bath Robe
This robe is perfect for summer travel or everyday use when you want something light and easy. The material is buttery soft and has a nice bit of stretch, so it feels great right out of the shower or layered over pajamas. It’s thin without being too sheer, dries quickly, and doesn’t take up much space in your suitcase. If you’re heading on a trip or just want something breathable for warm mornings, this one’s a keeper!

Romans 8:28 (NIV)

🙂 These are cute! I wear Cool Nights short strappy and tank gowns all year. Love them!
Purple jar never tried
🙂 I think the reason I don’t pay as much attention to pajama posts is that my budget is tight. I don’t spend money on cute pjs. I have cheap, oversized tshirts and save the money for work clothing. Also, I like to read your blogs on my computer rather than my phone, so I read them from work when I have some slow time. Monday I usually read the weekend posts.
🙂
😊 Cute pj’s. I prefer cotton or rayon blend in the summer
I love your silky pj’s! I am a pajama lover too and being a plus size— I buy all mine from Lane Bryant. They have hands down the best quality and best fitting pajamas for larger women. And they have sales periodically (plus semi-annual sales twice a year)— that’s when I buy several pairs for each season.
